What’s the name of this book?

So a number of years ago I remember reading a book (perhaps a series??) about a young girl and her finding out she was fae or had far blood? Unfortunately, I can’t recall much else from the story but for one scene. The girl comes back from the fae realms/other world and notices how nasty and polluted to air is. She also comes through at a gas station on the side of a highway. I remember there being a boy with her but not much else. I know it’s not much but this scene really stuck with me and if anyone has a vague idea of what book it could be from I’d really appreciate it!
