Mell, don't worry about purchasing any property, it's not at all necessary at this stage. If you want to purchase property later on, you can, if there's any availability.

Usually, properties go pretty quickly at the beginning of the year but then people get busy with things & will give back their property to be sold so there may be opportunities later on :)

But seriously, if you don't want to be bothered by the responsibility of owning a property, it's okay not to buy any. I didn't own any last year either.
