Suddenly I fly back as a wisp of smoke and materialize in front of Zaynah. "She's alright, she is just talking with someone. I am going to go back to her, and you guys stay here." I disappeard again.
"RUBY,.....LOOK FOR DANIEL...PLEASE"
I walk over, and sit next to her. "Hey, Kitty Kat."Kat laughs. "You know I hate it when you call me that." she says, but I can hear the glee in her voice.
"Where are we?" I say, knowing that what I see, and gigantic field filled with people, doesn't have to be what she sees.
"The park, dummy. Where we used to go after school on hot days, to sit near the pond?"
"I knew that." I say, feeling relieved she sees something that's connected to a happy memory.
"Kat, I'm sorry I didn't come for you. I..." I didn't know what to say.
"It's OK, Maj. You're here now. We'll never be apart again."
"Yeah." I swallow. "I'm going to find mom. I'll be back in a minute." I lie. Not making this harder than it already is. Tears are falling down my cheeks, but I turn so as Kat won't see.
I walk back to where I left Ruby. She sees my tears, but doesn't say anything. She just pulls me into a tight hug, that I weirdly enough really needed.
After hugging Maj I looked her over. I could tell she was in no shape to shadow travel so I turned us both into smoke and we raced back to where Zaynah and Mae waited. I transformed us back and sat down next to Maj on the steps. "Would you like to talk about it? Explain?"
"No." I say softly to her "We... We have to find Daniel. For Zaynah." I dry my face the best I can. "C'mon."
I stare at Maj for a moment, but shake my head and say, "Alright, but you guys need to figure out at some point you can't keep secrets forever." I get up then sit back down again. "Sooo, where do we have to go again?"
"Hawaii. Mauna Loa Volcano. I can get us there, and on the way, you people will sleep. Ruby, you look like you just pulled a huge train coast to coast. Zaynah, you look like you just recovered from cancer or something. Maj... you just look like you need to sleep it off. I've got this, trust me. I'll fix up some beds for you guys. Be right back." I trot away from the group and look for a large stick. When I find one, I pick it up and whack it against a tree. It makes a rumbling bang, and immediately I hear foot-steps. George pops into view and smiles at me.
"We need to get to Hawaii. Is the carriage still in condition to go? I need an additional 3 beds and some extra passenger seats. Maximum: 4. Is that alright?"
"Yes, Miss. I'll go get the animals ready. Be back in a jiffy!" with that, George walked off. I turned and jogged back to the group.
"George is on it. What'd I miss?"
"We need to get to Hawaii. Is the carriage still in condition to go? I need an additional 3 beds and some extra passenger seats. Maximum: 4. Is that alright?"
"Yes, Miss. I'll go get the animals ready. Be back in a jiffy!" with that, George walked off. I turned and jogged back to the group.
"George is on it. What'd I miss?"
"cancer...shoot...i look the bad huh? you guys, we need to stick together now. we need each other...maj we need you like you need us. to get back kat, daniel... and mae, ruby we'll figure it out and get whats been taken from you too..." i close my eyes then open them slowly..."i know that things are gonna get worse from here, that they'll try to bring fueds between us...but we have got to stay strong...ok...god i just siad that....i hate being emotional..." i grimace. "well, by my calculations we have 2 nights and 3 days left...lets move!"
"Mae! Its ready!" I hear George shout from the distance.
"Lets go!" I shout. I start walking towards the sound of his voice. We finally find my bird nest carriage, but its a bit different. Its bigger, with a few more flower chairs, plus 3 cotton beds. A driver's seat in the front, reins connected to the harnesses of many different animals. "Ok. Ruby, Zaynah, Maj, beds." I order. They drag their feet over to the beds and flop on them simultaneously. I climb onto the driver's seat and sit down. "Nice work, George. I hope to see you soon. Be sure to take care of Sadie and Daisy!" I say, just before I flick the reins and the animals stomp off. We went about 100 miles per hour, the wind whipping in my ears. I heard snoring behind me, which meant they were fast asleep.
"Lets go!" I shout. I start walking towards the sound of his voice. We finally find my bird nest carriage, but its a bit different. Its bigger, with a few more flower chairs, plus 3 cotton beds. Be sure to take care of Sadie and Daisy!" I say, just before I flick the reins and the animals stomp off. We went about 100 miles per hour, the wind whipping in my ears. I heard snoring behind me, which meant they were fast asleep.
Sleep sounds amazing. And it's also a way to keep Ruby from asking about Kat. I wasn't ready to let go. Not yet. Even though I said my goodbyes.But sleep didn't come undisturbed. I had dreams about my mother, and Kat. About our life before Debbie. And I had dreams about the what ifs. What if mom hadn't died. What if Nico hadn't taken me back to Debbie. What if... What if...
I whistled in amazement. It was about dawn, and the beautiful colors of morning were painting the sky. Our mountain animals had been replaced by a school of fish and dolphins, several small sharks, and a pod of hump-back whales. Sea mist blew in the air, damping my hair. I heard rustling behind me that meant someone was awake. "Good morning! We're here. Beautiful, isn't it?" I said to however had awoken.
it is beautiful...mae...do we have weapons...we need armour weapons, and clothes....and a shower"
"I can get us that armour." I say as I exit the makeshift bedroom. "And some new clothes. But that shower is going to be a bit more trickier."I look at George. "Can I borrow a phone?" He hands me one and I start dialing a number that seems to be too long to be actually working.
"I thought your Dad didn't take your calls?" Zaynah says as I switch to speaker phone.
"Oh, He isn't. But I wasn't planning to call him." I say as a voice on the other end starts to say: "DOA Recording Studio's. How may I direct your call?"
"Charon. Stop messing about. I called to tell you I absolutely loved that last outfit you send me, and was wondering if you can send me another."
"Or four? With armour?" He adds without skipping a beat. "Look under the carriage. Have a nice day." And the connection was lost.
Yawning, I came out of the body of the carraige to sit next to Zaynah, Maj and Mae in the drivers bench. "So, what's for breakfast? Or do I have to make some?" My fingers were poised and ready in the air.
i pointed to the small kitchen...its all your ruby....do some magic
I retrieve a parcel from underneath the carriage. 4 sets of armour, boots, and clothes are in it. I walk back. "Did somebody say breakfast? Because I'm starving."
Yup Ruby's making breakfast. Aren't you ruby. Ummmm maj what you got there" I say pointing to 4 bulging parcels in her arms.
I disappear into the small makeshift kitchen and look around skeptically. "There's nothing here." I think to myself. With a quick look over my shoulder, I tap my fingers against the counter and a huge feast appears. With a grin I step out, holding plates covered in eggs, sausages, toast, and bacon. Waffles and pancakes along with syrup and butter had their own three huge platters. "Who's hungry?" I ask.
"Charon just delivered these." I say as I hand her the one that says Zaynah.I give one to Ruby, and one to Mae. I look down at the one I'm still holding. Princess
"Seriously?" I mutter
I set down the platters on a huge dining room table inside the carraige, and stepped back out to open my package. I grin. "At least mine doesn't say PRINCESS on the front." I collapsed in a fit of giggles, but stopped when I caught sight of Maj glowering at me. I cleared my throat and turned back to my package. I grinned again and held up an outfit that consisted of a gray and black striped t-shirt, jeans and a very familar ring, which I immediately slipped onto my finger.
"You guys dig in. Freshen up. I've got to speak with the animals to see how we are going to land this thing. Go on." I say, waving my hands dismissively. I walk away towards the group of ocean creatures.
"well looks like charon taken a liking to his princess..."i say in a mock mimication of charon deep voice. we all laugh at maj's smug grimace. "im going to get changed then eat...
10 minutes later after splashing myself with icy water i cam out wearing raven black fighting gear. Tight fitting black jeans and a V-Necked body top. a gear vest covers my upper body. zipped pockets that contain remedies and medicines for burns and scars. my thigh strap criss crosses over my upper leg and has 4 different blades in it. knifes sharpened to the point. a new ebony steel bow is slung over my back and a mahogany quiver of staled arrows within it. my hair in its usual high pony tail. i'd trimmed my hair a little shorter so now it swung high over my back edging my neck. a silver chain swings from my neck and came to my chest. there was a gold flask that swung from it...its had venom remedy. my gun is in my back pocket loaded.
i walk out to mae, maj and ruby all dressed in their own armour...maj a dark blue, ruby a dark grey and mae a very dark red... i smile at them then see that they already started eating. i scowl at them..."well, generous much...gimme that." i grab the last plate and load it one...with eggs, toast and sausages...and another with fresh fruits on waffles and syrups on pancakses with a dressing of caramel...my stomach grumbles...."what the,...i never ate this much...maybe the venom had sucked more energy out of me then i'd thought..." "maj raises an eyebrow at me

After Zaynah came out of her room, we were all dressed and ready. I noticed she looked at me and raised an eyebrow. I looked down at my self then looked back up, grinning. "Nope, no daggers, knives, guns or anything. I don't really need 'em." I held up my hands. "I got these." "I know but," she threw me a small dagger. "At least have something, I feel nervous with you totally unarmed." I roll my eyes, but clip the dagger to my belt. "Fine."
I walk away from the animals and back towards the humans. "Remind me never to work with sea life again." I mumble to myself as I get closer. "Yeah... soooo, guys? We have a situation. I haven't known these animals long enough that they'd do this service for free. They want payment. And to do it quickly I'm gonna need some help. The whales want the barnacles scrapped off, the sharks want their teeth pulled, and the dolphins want to be played with. I think we need to divide up and take on the jobs by our selves. Can you guys help? Please?"
"Mae...trust you to get us the most rudiculous situations....okay i want to work with the dolphin but shraks should be fun....i'm doing sharks...anyone else wanna pull out shark claws"
I turned from Zaynah and nodded. "I think I'm the only one who can do the whales without taking years, I have my magic, so I can do that."
"Oooh. Thats another thing. Sea animals are more sensitive to magic than any others. If its done to close to them, they will have a raging fit. So you have to do it by hand. So maybe I should do the barnacles."
I sat, gaping at her. "You-you're not serious??? NO magic? How am I supposed to do anything?"
"You'll manage. You can play with the dolphins! Its not that hard. Just get a sea sponge, play fetch, and be done! Nothing too difficult. Plus, it will only be for a few magic-less minutes. It will be over before you know it!"
I nodded slowly. "Fine, but are you sure they will notice even the slightest-"
"Are you sure you got the right package?" I ask Ruby
I turned around, surprised. "What do you mean?" I asked.
"Come on, guys! Not much time! They threatened to through this thing over board if its not soon."
"Yeah, yeah, one second, what do you mean, Maj?"
"You're acting like a real princess. So I was wondering...." I laugh
I giggle a little at the joke. "Maj, while we are working on the repayment, I need you to make sure the fish don't escape. They are hyper little things." I tell her. "Come on, guys, lets get to work." I say to the others, waving them to follow me.
i laqugh at maj's joke...".the prissy princess...how about it ruby" i call out to her "shut up zaynah" "nah i say....shes more like the fierce...." her glare cuts me off and i giggle with mae.
I glower at Maj, Zaynah and Mae, and stomp off to take care of the animals. I go off to amuse the dolphins. "Here, dolphins! You wanna play?" I shout. Four curious dolphins swim over and look at me, waiting. I cast around for something to throw, and I found a sponge in the kitchen. I ran back out and yelled, "Fetch!" I threw the sponge, but the dolphins just watched it fall into the water with a splash, then look back at me silently. I groan. This was going to be a long playtime.
"sharks....yikes...hopefully they'll be small cute shark no great whi-" i cut off mid sentence....they were great white sharks, fully grown enormous sharks their teeth bared..."hell yes" i say laughing "lets do this." the water is shallow but it comes to my chin. i jump onto the back of the first shark i see and its throws me off. i jump on the back on and grab on for dear life. mae throws me a rope and i tie its mouth close twice. then i grab a giant plucker and pulls its giant canine out. its goes still...i expected for it to react and fling me off again but it went still and moaned which i swore was a laugh!
I set to my revolting work on the humpback whales. After what seemed like forever the work was done. I look around to see my friends were finishing up too.
I joined Mae in the carraige body. She looked just as exhausted as I felt. "I have been throwing sponge after sponge after sponge into the water, and nobody seemed to understand, so I had to jump in the icy cold water, and show them how to do it. I had to swim back and forth, and back and forth. Finally, one of them got it and began fetching, then they all joined in, but to tell you the truth, I think they rather preferred watching me freeze to death fetching. And for a whole two hours." I groaned.
"my hands feel like some one has slapped then a million times." I groan.
I nodded, rubbing my sore shoulders. "Can I use magic now? I need to heal my muscles, fast, and I'm sure I could help your hands..."
"Sure. But no need to heal me. I am just fine. Just. Fine."
I sighed in thanks and soon tiny, green sparks were climbing up and down my back, repairing torn muscles and cuts and scrapes on the skin. A fuzzy blanket appeared in the air in front of me and I grabbed it and wrapped it around me. Slowly my teeth stopped chattering as my body warmed up. I glanced at Mae, standing there, and tried to offer her a blue blanket.
"No, no. I'm fine. You poof that back to where ever that came from and save your magic."
I shrugged and it disappeared. After about fifteen minutes, I got rid of my blanket and walked up to Mae, who was steering the ship. "How much longer?" I asked.
"Uh... About 15 minutes. Not too long."
I sighed and slouched down on the bench. "Good, I'm not very good at waiting... Hey! You wanna play cards?" Mae looked around, "But there are no cards on this carraige." I grinned slyly and held up my hand. "I have a deck."
