I giggle to myself. I roll my eyes and smile. "If there is anything I learned from having 2 sisters, its that they'll cool down and move on eventually." I say, smiling as I watch Maj walk away.

I Scream from the top of my lungs in pain. these people may be able to save me but it wasn't going to be painless. they cleaned by wound then put a burning fiery ointment that stung and caused another wave of screams and agony. then they sewed my wound which was by far the worst experience of my life. the needle piercing my skin in and out, in and out...
some time later mae, maj and ruby walked in to check on me. my fever had broken my wound stitched...the wound would leave an eternal scar and the poison would have consciousness side effects meaning sometime the venom would react go my blood and i would faint...as if i hadn't been doing enough of that but apart from that you could say i was fine...
in a few hours i would be back on my feet without me having to suck the life out of Mae

The King mumbles something I don't quite catch as I walk back to my room to check on Zaynah.
"Thank the gods your alive! I thought you would leave me alone here!" I exclaim, throwing my hands up in exaggeration. I glance at Ruby and Maj. "With the exception of you guys. Of course." I feel her forehead, checking for a temperature. "I swear, these starts you people are giving me will be the death of Mae Fantasy as we know her." I gaze at the stitching. "Are you sure you are feeling alright? They look like they put a pin cousin inside of you then yanked it out."
"woah there...i missed you too." i looked at maj and ruby "and you guys. and yh im fine. this" i point to the jagged brigh scar on my stomach, "this will scar for life but i'm fine...really" i say to her unconivnced looks. "watch" i brace myself then throw my legs over the bed and try TOo stan unsuccecfully. i wobble then fall back. "well i may need a few minutes"
a few minutes later i was standing and kind of walking with the help of mae and ruby with maj laughing at my struggle..."cut it out maj" i say between gritted teeth "it...aint,..funny!"

I flashed an evil look to Maj and she stopped. "Maybe you need some fresh air. You'd be surprised what strength it can give you." I say, leading Zaynah towards the door. "We need to talk, anyways."
"Fine! It's not like I haven't got any other work to do!" I yell after them. When they're gone I yell for Sarah. "Sarah? Can you find me some trousers? I'm going to pick a fight. And I don't want to mess up this dress."**
10 minutes later I'm wearing tight fitting trousers and shirt. The guards had been reluctant at my request to train with me, but eventually they agreed but only if I used dummy weapons.
It's a good training. They're advancing on me 3 or 4 at the time, and since their weapons are sharp I have to block, strike and dodge. Sometimes in the same move, with nothing but my rubber knifes.
"Ma'am, permission to speak freely." A guard asks as I parry his attack.
"Granted." I grunt, stabbing another guard in the guts.
"Ma'am, why are you here?"
I stop, and straighten myself. "I'm here because I need to train. And since my usual crew is in sickbay because of your King. I use his." I look at the guard. "Take five!" I yell at the rest. I look back at the guard. "Walk with me?" I ask. He agrees.
we walk in the beautiful rose bed meadows of the garden. the air really does help. all i need now is a shower and ill be fine. and of course a change of clothes. i look down at my bloodstained tattered t shit and knee length short and grimace. "what is it mae...you look stressed?"
"What's your name?" I ask the guard. Might as well know who I'm spending private time with."Ciaran." he answers.
"Ciaran?" I ask. "As in prince Ciaran?"
"Yes. That one." Ciaran says smiling.
I stop for a moment, and then start walking even faster. "You're prince Ciaran? But then why were are you wearing a guards uniform?"
"Milady, have I offended you by pretending to be a guard?"
I shrug.
"I heard from a courtier that the Lady was fighting with guards, and I wanted to see for myself. When I saw your fightstyle, I changed into a guard's uniform to join."
We had stopped in front of my room. "I'll be right back." I tell him as I go inside to change back into a blood red dress, with a slit in the skirt that shows the black underskirts.
"Whereto, my dear?" Ciaran asks as I come back outside.
My dear? Is he serious?
"Lets just walk. And talk. And piss off your daddy." I say laughing.
"You seem to get to him in a way that even I can't."
"Yeah, well if you grow up in a house with 9 kids, you learn all the way to get underneath someone's skin."

We walk and talk for what feels like hours. Ciaran tells me about his family, and I talk about mine. And Kat. Somehow we started talking about Kat."So you have one biological sister, at least 6 other brothers and sisters, two daughters, and somehow you're still unhappy?"
I laugh. "When you say it like that it sounds horrible!"
"But this Kat. She sounds like a sweet girl."
"She was. Is. She's lost." I say.
"Lost?" Ciaran asks.
"Taken from me by someone who told me to find the Lost Snake."
"The Lost Snake?" Ciaran pulls me between two pillars. "Please tell me you're joking. Tell me you're not looking for Medusa's Lost Snake." When he sees my eyes his tone changes. "You've lost your mind! No-one in his right mind would go looking for-"
"You know it." I cut in. "You know where to find the Lost Snake. You have to help me. Please? I- I would do anything to save Kat. To get her back."
"No. I can't just- I mean... I don't know what you're talking about." He walks away, without another word. I slide down to the floor, and start to cry.
Zaynah and I stroll through the royal gardens, breathing sweet flowered air. We find a white marble bench and we sit. After a few seconds of silence, I speak. "I... I think I figured your multiple claimings out." I say, trying not to meet her eyes. "But to make it definite... I'm going to need to run some tests."

I go outside again and come across maj rocking on the floor her eyes bright red. I could tells she was crying. Anger rages through me. " why are you crying." She doesnt answer me. "Goddamnit maj. Why are you crying " i touch her arm and see the conversation she had with a young gaurd. I see the way he left the words he said to her cold and bitter. Majs kneed bucklin beneath her and her teara begining to spill. I ball my hands into fists and stand. " zaynah you Arent in any for state to start picking a fight with him. I mean have you seen yourself latelt" " yes maj i have but i also saw daniel back in the maze. Im not sitting around anymore. He needs me. He needs us. Kat needs us. Im not leaving them. Any of them. And like that I stand and go after the guard. I see him standing in the corridor Sharpening his blade. I call out to him.

I grab m dagger out of my back pocket But he was very fast he grabbed my hand and twisted around my back. My blade fell from my hand and clattered to the he floor. I elbowed him in the stomach adn he grouned from the round house kick that hot his stomach. He drew his fist back and punced missing ny face my inches. " Your mommy never told you not to hit girl" he laughed my momy died when i was a kid. "Well that describes you lack of focus and girly attention" he smirked and i kicked. He geabbed my foot and twisted. My knees hit the floor amd i winced. My fist came up and hit his mouth. "Ouch" he said. His next blow not so lucky. He hit my stomach half hitting the wound. I screamed and clutched at my stomach. He froze mid swing And moaned. "Oh my god. Im so sorry" "dude. Why would you hit if you were just going to apolagize. " "ok you delirious" he put jis ajmd to my stomach but i pulled away "dont its fine. Just listen to me ok. Your name again. Ciaran right. Ok ciaran. Peopel have been taken. Lives have been lost. We need you to help us. This... This thing thats taken kat. Thats taken my friend dAniel. It isnt just taking our loved ones. Others as well have been taken. This thing could flurry out our existence. It needs the snake ad you know where it is. Please help me. Help us. Help the world you live in. You could prvent evil from taking over. It could get so powerful it could..." I close my eyes and tears pour down my face. He places a hand on my back. " ciaran. I cant loose daniel. Maj cant loose kat. So please... Help the gods. Help kat and daniel. Help us." I open my eyes and ciaran stamda then helps me to my feet. Alright. But were were goin youll need arnour. Weapons and a whole lo of courage." I see Zayna come back with Ciaran. "Back to apologize? Because if you are, I don't want to know.""I wasn't." Ciaran says. "I just wanted to let you know that I can't tell you to go to the west tower. And that I also can't tell you to start climbing between 10 and 10.30 pm. Or that you only will succeed if the King doesn't know you're involved. But then again, how can you be involved in all the things I just didn't tell you? You spent the entire evening with me. And I would never tell you to kill that which hides in the tower." He holds out his hand.
I stare at it. "Are you serious?" I ask, suddenly realising I'm still on the floor, and that my eyes are red and puffy.
"Yes." Zaynah elbows him "And I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I couldn't say anything."
"Fine." I grab his hand and let him pull me up. "Pick me up at 8."

Ten minutes later we're at the foot of the stairs. I have throwing knifes strapped to my legs, and my Stygian Iron sword is hanging from my waist. The pearls are still embroided to my bodice, and the garrotte is hidden in the seem under it. "Well, here goes nothing." I say gloomily.
Ten min later im standing in black jeans and a black body top. I have a light shalve on that protecta my wound. My hair is up in a togh ponytail. There a weapons bealt strpped to mu thigh. A rope atound my waiste and my bow and full quiver is slung against my back. I smile at maj mae and ruby. Lets go then.
"Yep. This will be... uh... interesting." I say. I had some jean shorts on the went just barely above my knees. In my pocket I had 2 dog tags, well hidden from sight, a inch long root I kept for emergency healing, and a forgotten sliver of red fabric. Strapped around my waist was my favorite silver dagger, shining blade glistening in the rays of sun. A basic T-Shirt with flowers and leaves painted on. My hair was braided down to my shoulder blades, morning dew forming on its delicate hairs. "Zaynah, about those tests... they aren't the kind of doctor blood and needles tests. They are like experiments, trying to prove my theory. If I am correct, you might just have 1 godly parent after all!"

"You'll find her at the end of this stairwell. It's the only room in this tower, and this is the only way up." Ciaran explains."So, are you guys comming?" I say from the third step
"Yep. Why not? Lets go save Kat and Daniel!" I shout enthusiastic sounding, but my heart wasn't in it 'And who ever else is there.' I thought to myself.
After what feels like a thousand steps, we reach a wooden door. It's locked but with the help of a stiletto knife and a hairpin I pry the lock open."Ready?" I whisper. Why am I whispering?
I push the door open, and step inside. It's a big circular room, with a bed, a bath, and a woman on a leash.
"May I introduce Asiru, the Lost Snake." Ciaran says.
I observe the lady, a little shocked. "See. I told you it might've been a person, not a literal snake." I step forward, towards the lady. She looks up and stares at me. She had snake eyes, slits with yellow surrounding. I tried not to wince at the sight. "Do you speak English?" I ask the Snake Woman. She replies in a series of hisses with a few fork tongued flickers.
"I don't speak your foul language, you filthy demi-god." she said in a raspy snake-language voice.
"I can speak your language, Ma'am. My friends and I would like to speak to you, if thats alright. We mean no harm, as you do to us." I replied, also in snake.

"Ask how she is. If they are treating her OK. Be interested. You want to know what she feels." I notice her shocked look "What? I went to this seminar on hostage negotiating once."
"I'll try." I whisper back before turning back to the lady. "How are you on this fine day? Are you treated properly here?" I ask, trying to sound like I wanted to know. She glared at me, anger flashing in her eyes.

"Next one goes in your ear. And don't think it'll kill you. These are specially designed for me. They take a bit of your, how to put it, life fuel. So, I'll ask again. You know where the mortals are?"
I can see the change in Mae's eyes as she translates for me.
"Uh..." I mumble. "She... she says that she knows where they are. But so do we." I explain to Maj in a shaky voice. "What do you mean?" I ask the snake woman.
"You want to know more? Take a step closer." she hisses, an evil smile spreading across her face. "With each step, you get more knowledge. Agreed?" I think about the offer. "One more thing. Only one of you can stay and ask. The rest will leave, or they'll never with draw from this room." she explains. I decided to not translate to Maj and the others.
"She wants a deal. You guys have to leave, or we will never get to. I'll stay, and I'll come out with the information as soon as possible." I whisper to the others.
"You want to know more? Take a step closer." she hisses, an evil smile spreading across her face. "With each step, you get more knowledge. Agreed?" I think about the offer. "One more thing. "Nope, but stabbing her might." I say as I lift one of my knifes to throw.
"Well she won't be any good stabbed, will she? We need her information, and if she if impaled, we won't ever see Kat or Daniel ever again! Now go!!"

Their one each of these arrows too. Im sure lethal venom poison and the blow of an arrows will make her thrive" the snake girls face tightened. " mae no arguements"
