I don't know about you, but I've seen some really great engineers become really poor managers in my career. Amongst other factors of course, I believe a major reason for this is that they get so engulfed by their new position, they forget what it was like to be the engineer.
Realising that I might one day find myself in this position, I decided to write a short book on what I, as an engineer, expect from a great manager. So, if that day comes, I'll have a good guide to follow.
