Movie was rubbish, if you haven't read the books then you stand no chance of knowing what is going on. Very poor conversion to movie. Books are great though. Bane is my fav character.

I hated both tbh. The books are just the most shameless rip off parade I've ever came across, with one of the worst Mary Sue protagonists I've ever read. I actually think the only character I liked was Simon.The movie, also bad but hilarious. I laughed so hard watching it.
I always try to read the book before seeing the movie, I haven't seen vampire academy yet as I haven't read the book.About the only time I have done the movie first was fight club, luckily both book and movie were brilliant.
I haven't seen the movies or finished the series but I liked the books I have read so far. I liked the prequel series A LOT because it is set in older times, but it's also a lot darker... It is sort of my guilty pleasure reading because of the *ahem* romance in it.
The bane chronicles, there are 10 of them, I have read 6 or 7 of them, the first book is pretty awful but after that they pick up and are quite good fun, I think you need to read the main series first as this does answer quite a lot of questions.

Those are the ones I prefer, so far. Idk but they really grabbed me.
Ah, in that case there are lots of prequels. I haven't read the infernal devices yet.
