As unenthusiastic as I was about our last vote (or maybe I just really wanted to read Tender is the Night), I'm getting increasingly interested in this book after having discovered that there's a dedicated Norton critical edition containing, as all their books, an incredible amount of contextual and critical information, including Hardy's letters, Hardy’s map of Wessex and even "Simplified Map of the Country of Far from the Madding Crowd". I'm almost ready to proclaim mea culpa.
