Chapters 1-4 (view spoiler)[I am curious about Kit. I don't think that he would have been in the prologue unless he was important somehow. He seems lonely though.

I really like Emma. I think that I may like her more than Clary and Tessa. She is more badass than they were. I adore Clary and Tessa, but they are softer than Emma.

Emma seems totally engrossed in finding her parents murderer and having revenge. She needs closure, poor thing.

The romantic/sexual tension between Emma and Jules is intense. Jules is clearly smitten with Emma and he feels so guilty about it since they are parabatai. Emma knows deep down but I don't think that she has realized it yet. Gah, I adore them so much! Damn the Clave and their rules.

I like Cristina. And Diana is really mysterious. I am not sure what to make of Diana.

The way that Jules and Emma have their secret silent language of writing words on each other's skin makes my heart melt.

Poor Uncle Arthur is clearly not all there upstairs.

Julian's description of what true love is was pretty heavy.

Chapters 5-9 (view spoiler)[Wow, so Mark is back. I wonder if the arrangement that they are making with the Faeries will backfire on them somehow. It seems odd all of a sudden.

Mark doesn't seem to be adjusting well. Cristina seems to be doing a good job of taking care of him though.

It was good to see Magnus. Though I wonder why he whispered to Emma instead of just speaking out loud...

There is something about a group of kids solving murders with no adult supervision whatsoever that unnerves me a bit. I love the Blackthorns, but it is just odd.

Emma was so enraged when Dru told her that her great-aunt told her she was fat. And with good reason. Who tells that to a child?

I liked the scene with Emma and Mark riding the motorcycle. They seemed to bond. They were able to find the convergence but they had to fight demons. Good thing Cristina and Julian showed up though. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 10-14 (view spoiler)[I don't think they are giving Ty enough credit. He may be different but that doesn't mean that he can't be a Shadowhunter. I think that he is stronger than they realize.

So Mark and Cristina? I wonder how that is going to work out.

I am trying to piece together all the clues that they are finding. I wonder who shot Julian with the arrow. And I am curious how Emma healed him all of a sudden when it wasn't working at first.

I giggled so hard during the diner scene. Syphilis. =D

It seemed like Mark and Cristina were going to have a romantic moment and then Kieran showed up and stopped it. He seemed angry and then after Cristina went inside he and Mark were kissing. So I guess Faerieland wasn't all that bad?

So Mark wants Cristina. But she only doesn't want a booty call. She told him that she doesn't want someone without a heart.

The incident at Rook's place was strange. I wonder why Ty thought it would be a good idea to sneak along and then attack someone. And there is Kit again.

Wow. The Emma almost drowning scene was not what I was expecting. I don't even know how Julian found her. And the lovemaking scene was kind of abrupt. They literally just crashed into each other after never admitting that they even care about each other in that way. It probably wasn't a good idea to sleep together naked on a beach where anyone could find them. I wonder who saw them. And I can't believe that Emma told Cristina about it. She must really trust her. Chapters 19-23 (view spoiler)[Well, we get to meet Perfect Diego. He doesn't seem all that bad. Maybe a little full of himself though.

The Guardians attacked the Institute to get Sterling. They left with his hands. How creepy.

So Julian tells Mark and Emma that he is the one that has been running the Institute since he was 12 because their uncle has gone mad. I kind of thought as much.

I wonder what Diana's secrets are.

Well, now we know why Cristina left Mexico.

Aww, cute little Tavvy cracking the case with a children's book. =)

The whipping scene was so emotional! I can't even. First Julian takes his brother's place to protect him and then Emma puts Jules to sleep and takes the rest of the beating for both of them. It was heartwrenching. And knowing that Mark was furious at Kieran even though Kieran only wanted Mark back with the Wild Hunt because he loves him. So much emotion! (hide spoiler)]

Finished! (view spoiler)[Wow, I didn't expect Malcolm to be the Guardian but it was very well put together. I loved the plot. I am glad that Emma was the one to kill him to avenge her parents' deaths.

So now we know. Jem tells Emma about the forbidden parabatai knowledge. If two people are parabatai and are in love then they can create powerful runes akin to magic. That the power drives them mad until they become monsters and destroy their families. That death would surround them until they died themselves. So Emma vows to save Julian from this fate by rejecting him and asking Mark to date her. She thinks that she can make him not want to love her. Somehow I don't think it will end well. Love isn't that simple. You don't stop loving someone because they are with someone else or because the other person treats you badly.

So Kit is the Lost Herondale. Who knew? I kind of like him. I hope he sticks around. (hide spoiler)]

oh my god, i'm sorry. i ended up finishing it entirely this evening, i couldn't put it down.

the ending: (view spoiler)[oh my god. i have no words! i have NO idea that it'd be malcolm that was involved. i did not see that coming at all but i had a feeling kit would become involved because of the prologue.

i am just devastated by the ending. i knew emma and julian's relationship would have something like this happened but ahhh, it's so frustrating. why the heck did she just not tell him?? then they could have done something together about it. it's just going to ruin it. :(( (hide spoiler)]
