☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments The Glauser award is lacking "some" books (quite a lot in all categories/nominees) https://www.goodreads.com/award/show/...
There are 3 categories
- Kriminalroman http://www.das-syndikat.com/krimiprei... (they do call it Kriminalroman on their 2017 info page and on the overall only Roman - as it is a prize for crime novels Kriminalroman would be the correct term)
- Debütroman http://www.das-syndikat.com/krimiprei...

and Kurzkrimi (crime short story) http://www.das-syndikat.com/krimiprei...

under the larger presented winners are always the nominees listed.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Could you make separate posts for different awards? Everything munged together is harder to work with.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments Debutroman:
2017 http://www.das-syndikat.com/krimiprei...
previously: http://www.das-syndikat.com/krimiprei...
(I have entered 2016+ 2015 already and 2014 )

and while typing.. did you mean just posts or real different threads per category -as it has so many years on each...?

Elizabeth (Alaska) Sorry, LG. I wasn't very clear. The Glauser award is fine - there are some missing years and I'll look through them. But then you mention a children's award - is that a different award? Your post makes me think so.

We were posting at the same time.

Thanks for the separate links for the Glauser. If you could start a new thread for the children's award, as that looks to be a different award, please?

Elizabeth (Alaska) I'd like to do these right the first time, so what is the difference between

Debütroman

Debüt – Bester Erstlingsroman

Debüt

I think these should be consistent.

Sometimes authors like to say "Best" (Bester?) when only sometimes the award is for Roman (or whatever, just not prefaced with Best). It seems preferable that the Glauser awards are:

Kriminalroman
Debütroman
Kurzkrimi

but I'm flexible. Which do you think readers of these book expect/prefer?

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments Yes the children's one is a different award - although given from the same organization (I didn't look if the name of it has perhaps something to do with something children related) and I only did put it in because I didn't expect he isn't at GR (was more to prevent questions like "and what does that mention?" for non german speaking people)
Was pretty surprised the award isn't there at all - and yes an own thread for it would be definetly appropriate.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments Erstlingsroman just means the same as Debütroman. Erstling is just the more german word for the originally french Debüt, but on the award page it's always called Debüt(roman) and that's perfectly understandable and I would not go with Erstlingsroman.
Debütroman is debut novel in english I assume?
Erstlingsroman could be paraphrased with "first novel of someone" and I wouldn't except that as an award category except that's explicitly named like that.
And "Bester Erstlingsroman - Debüt" is just nonsense because it's just doubled for no reason, you would use either Erstlingsroman or Debüt(roman) not both because it's the same.

I personally prefer Debütroman over just Debüt because for me it just reads not so nice when it says "Friedrich-Glauser-Preis for Debüt" I like the "novel" (which is "Roman") behind it to make it kind of ...nicer.

And for the crime novel category. They call it just "Roman" on the previously awarded page but "Kriminalroman" on the actual year page - I do like Kriminalroman more because we do use "Roman" quite often just for romances.

Kurzkrimi is ok (Krimi is just the short form of Kriminalroman aka crime novel)
Yes I think the "best(er)" is redundant as the Glauser is only awarded to one book and there is no 2nd or 3rd place - just one which is automatically the best.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Thanks, LG. Time to go standardize what's already there, and then I can get started filling in the blanks.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments If you need help with adding potential missing records (found one in the ones I added already) just mention, I can add that then.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Lachgas wrote: "If you need help with adding potential missing records (found one in the ones I added already) just mention, I can add that then."

Do you mean you note that some books are not on GR?

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments yes :)
Came across some on the nominees (and the first Kriminalroman winner) and added some already

Elizabeth (Alaska) Lachgas wrote: "yes :)

Ok, thanks. I just added a Kindle edition to a book already here. I've been checking because some of those imported with English as the language.

Are you adding the award, or just getting the titles in so that I can do them? (I want to make sure I refresh the award page if you are, but no problem if you are not.)

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments I added the award to the ones I added (worked from old to new and stopped with the 89 Kriminalroman) but as it's late I'll go to bed now :)

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments So, I'm done with the Debüt books now - nominees and winner are all entered.

If you need help with the Kriminalroman part then just say something - I think I'd be more confident doing them then the shorts ;)

If you would like to work on them, I can start looking at the shorts.

2000 winner is added and was next to work on the nominees, working backward as we discussed. But isn't it very very late for you (or early, depending ... )?

Elizabeth (Alaska) Did you do any of the shorts other than that one that brought all of this attention?

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments Yes it's late/early. I just wanted to finish the Debüts and forgot the clock (but got more tired) and am on the way to bed now.

No, didn't do any other shorts - wasn't sure if that was correct the way I did and didn't want to mess up several entries only because I think I'm correct ;) so stayed away there.

Will look at the Kriminalromane later :)

Elizabeth (Alaska) Lachgas wrote: "No, didn't do any other shorts - wasn't sure if that was correct the way I did and didn't want to mess up several entries only because I think I'm correct ;) so stayed away there."

It looks right to me. I will not be using für before the story name and hope all you Germans will forgive me.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments uff from this 90s kriminalromanen are quite a few missing ...
and two where I didn't find any other info at all besides name and author on the nominee list
but am now in 1994 - working upwards
and these early 90s books from Grafit do often have the wrong cover on amazon - often a way later one ... the corporate design of the publisher just wasn't the one on these covers.
early 2000s https://www.amazon.de/Tod-auf-Rezept-...
early 90s https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
(they had these kind of structured looking covers on all books)
but abebooks sometimes has it - although there are sellers with the later one which comes as a stockphoto and the quality of the older often isn't that good.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Lachgas wrote: "uff from this 90s kriminalromanen are quite a few missing ..."

I have been having to add almost every one of the anthologies for the Kurzkrimi. Mostly I found more recently published ones, rather than the first editions. I finally posted in the feedback thread complaining that apparently they aren't doing imports from amazon.de. So Moloch piped up and said they aren't importing from amazon.it either. It's a pain in the ...

Thanks for working on these. Let me know how it goes. I'm glad to continue with the Kurzkrimi, but, as you know, I'm going to have very little time for GR the next few days.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments Did you do all the nominees of "Kriminalroman"?
I'm done with winners and nominees from start to 1999 so could fill in some nominees if some are missing.
If we're done here I could look through the anthologies and add them if they are missing in the database

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments added the missing 2000 nominees, 2001 were all already there, caught a typo in the 2002 nominee (in the award, merged it)
*sigh* german books are really often missing covers and info :/

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments oh and corrected (don't think you entered that - might be one of these already there) a 2010 nominee - Jutta Profjit was Glauser nominee only for Morgue Drawer 4 - not a collection of books 1-3 of the series

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments looked through all, Kriminalroman done :)

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments while looking if some of the anthologies have to be added got distracted by taking care of the 2017 nominee author (combining, adding contributors ...) and saw https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
which is the short story she got the Glauser nomination for - should we give the award to that book instead of the anthology?

Elizabeth (Alaska) Lachgas wrote: "while looking if some of the anthologies have to be added got distracted by taking care of the 2017 nominee author (combining, adding contributors ...) and saw https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3..."

Yes. Thanks.

I was doing winners and nominees as I was going.

Elizabeth (Alaska) LG, did you get everything done or is there something that needs doing - now that I can get back to it.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments the anthologies aren't all done yet - but currently the website is under maintenance (not mentioning how log only that several parts may not work - which is the case for the award pages just now)

Elizabeth (Alaska) Ok, I'll keep an eye on all of that. How far did you get? Were you just adding the anthologies or adding the awards as you went along? (Either is OK, of course, just getting a picture of how to proceed.)

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments I addded some with the awards to it until 2002 from the bottom (winners and nominees)

Elizabeth (Alaska) Thanks. Will proceed accordingly.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments in case you haven't already seen it - the page is working again :)

Elizabeth (Alaska) ☕ Lachgas ♿ wrote: "in case you haven't already seen it - the page is working again :)"

I think that has something to do with page turns. As I added some winners, the nominees would get pushed down, so not caught up in that page turn bug. But thanks!

(And nice new avatar!)

Elizabeth (Alaska) I finished the Kurzkrimi as far as I could. I was unable to identify some of the anthologies.

Do I understand you got the others and this means we got them all?

so If you're done with the Kurzkrimis we're done yeah :)
or are there some anthologies I shall try to look at on the weekend?

(The avatar should just be a placeholder but I'm struggeling the sunflower photo I really wanted so the marble cake is a pretty good placeholder :D)

The anthologies I couldn't find were not found with a Google search even. A magazine was one. I'm sorry, I didn't save which ones.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments ah yeah this Schwarze Bände.... had searched for one them too and forgot to post here ... but as they were magazines I wasn't sure if they would be valid even if we could've find them..

I'm not too concerned since these are for short stories and many many story awards are among the missing. Should an author/reader need it added, perhaps that person could provide the anthology and we could easily (and happily) add it at that time.
