You can set the story in any (family friendly) genre and any time period. The required scene must involve:
Daniel Windtalker is known for championing the downtrodden everywhere. He is found, dead, in a locked room by his host for the evening, Nigolo N’anwarrow. Present are Nigolo’s wife and mother. His host is known for collecting antique weapons, but since there are no marks on the body, that might be a red herring. The wife is an avid gardener and has bred an entirely new sub-species of flowers in the greenhouse. Also a red herring? Perhaps. As to the mother… no one knows much about her.
