Hey Everyone! My friend Doppelganger and I were thinking of doing a monthly classics read-a-long. I know a lot of us want to read classics but have a hard time finding motivation, so if we do it as a group we might have more success! Each month we would choose a new classic to tackle, and we would like to start with DRACULA! Would anyone be interested in joining us?

If you check out the #ayearathon on youtube or here on goodreads you might be able to find some people to join you too. That read-a-thon's theme is classics and is currently running from July 7th to 14th. I know there are a few reading Dracula but there may be others that want to continue the classics reading beyond the week.
Classics are not at the top of my tbr at the moment but I'll keep an eye on this for when the get up there :D
I would be interested in reading more classics. but is Dracula set in stone though?
I think that would be an awesome idea for October!
I will definitely be interested in joining in on a classics monthly read-along! I've been meaning to read some classics and I think this would be a really fun way to get it done :D
I was just thinking about Halloween!Even if we read Dracula, there is always more Gothic horror to go on ^_^
Frankenstein, The Picture of Dorian Grey, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde come to mind.
Or we can go Lovecraftian Horror.
Just to list some alternatives. I don't think things are set in stone atm (? - not sure though XD)
This sounds like a great idea! I've read a few classics but got so many I've never got round to (mostly on my kindle cos they tend to be free haha)! Really wanna read Dracula too! :)

True Dat. I have actually been wanting to read Dracula for a while, mainly just to be able to say "yeah, i've read Dracula"
but i think those are all good ideas for halloween too!
im excited :D
Yes! I've literally been trying to read a book like Dracula for ages. But, I can't find it anywhere... Is they only place you can get them on ebooks or in stores...??
Well it is available online for free on Project Gutenberghttp://www.gutenberg.org/files/345/34...
And online stores like the book depository and amazon should sell copies ???
Well, I'm currently finishing up War and Peace, so I don't think I want to read any more classics for a little while :DBut I hope you guys do this and maybe I'll join you in a month or two :)

Respect. I doubt I will ever manage to read that one.
To anyone that wants to read Dracula, I have always wanted to read it so I bought it and read it at the beginning of the year. I hated it, I thought I was gonna love it bc I love vampires but it is so boring and disappointing! Just so you know. :/
I would love to do this. I really want to read more classics, and I think it would definitely help to have other people to read and discuss with. Count me in! :)
I'd definitely join in with classics read-a-long months, my classics always tend to get pushed aside in favour of newer releases. I think I'll skip the first month though. I read Dracula when I was 12/13 and I really liked it, but I'm not in the mood to reread. :)
Ok let's do it people! I'm really excited some of you are going to jump on board and knock out some classics with us! Since we have the Booktube-a-thon happening next week, everyone ok with this read-a-long starting August 1st?

I would like a classic read a long :) I've just bought some because I wanted to start reading (more) classics. August sounds fine! :)
I'm in!! I just have to buy it now haha. This will give me a reason to buy some of the beautiful penguin classic cloth bound books *drool
And I'm getting a bit ahead but do know have any ideas from the next few reads? Then I can make shipping worth it
I have a stack of classics that I own but haven't gotten around to reading yet, I think this would be a perfect opportunity for me to get into those, I'm in.
wait does the read-along go for the whole month starting from August 1st, or is it like a week long thing??!!
Lily wrote: "wait does the read-along go for the whole month starting from August 1st, or is it like a week long thing??!!"Yes it'll be for the whole month, that way nobody feels rushed :)
Justine wrote: "And I'm getting a bit ahead but do know have any ideas from the next few reads? Great!! Thanks so much :)
August sounds good! Think I might have Dracula on my kindle already actually, will need to check! Oooh yay would be great if wuthering heights was one if the future books - read it and absolutely adored it, it's probably my favourite book and I've been wanting to re-read it for ages! :)

I agree
Thanks I for sure will pick it up! I will be doing a lot of reading in August seeing as I will be having surgery!

On my own I would probably avoid reading Wuthering Hights - but with a group its easier to tackle it.
