Soph ♡ | 130 comments I've got Stiff The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach lined up for this prompt. Strangely looking forward to reading it!

Those both sound pretty 'micro' to me, especially the second one if you're not comfortable counting the first one.

This is the definition I've been working from: "Microhistory is the intensive historical investigation of a well-defined smaller unit of research (most often a single event, the community of a village, or an individual)."

I think both of them count as microhistories. It's not just about narrowness of time period (in fact that doesn't really have to be a factor at all) so much as a narrowness of historical topic. I think you're good to go.

Jackie | 734 comments Yeah, true crime is kind of a subset of microhistory.

I'm pleasantly surprised that they both sound "micro", but I will certainly accept two votes! Sounds like it was just research-induced tunnel vision making them sound "broad" to me. Thank you!
