Thank you Thelma!
I am excited about the options for the December book :)

I have had my nose stuck in this book most of the day. You are right it is fantastic!

I have been reading Blindsighted today. I am really into it! I am puzzled by the whole Belladonna tea angle. I really like the characters and the setting of small town Georgia. I live on the Tennessee Georgia state line in a small town on the Georgia side. We have a diner in town that is so much like the one described in the book. I can so relate to the setting and the characters. Loving it so far!

Belinda (belindaf) Isabel, that's where I bowed out too. No worries. Not every book is for everyone. Descent seems to have consistently mixed reviews. I'm still finishing Night Film. Better late than never.

TR | 42 comments I was looking at my holds today and Blindsighted is on it. Must have gotten the recommendation from this group and added it to my list.

Andrew✌️ (andrew619) I've finished Descent today. Not a bad story, maybe different from what looks in the beginning. The first chapter is a punch in the stomach, with the disappearance of the girl, but for the next fifty chapters is all a view of the family's life and the consequences of the loss of the girl. A style not easy and too many reflections made difficult the reading. Fortunately, from the chapter 51 there is a change of pace, more thrilling, that it my interest.
I liked it, though it was not as I expected from the plot.

Thelma Fountain | 136 comments I agree Andrew. Your review stated exactly what I thought but did not word as well as you did. I did like the twist that Billy was a good guy in the end. He came thru when it counted.

Yes, Billy is a strange character for the most part of the book, maybe evil, but in a some way sad. I've been happy to see him make the right thing.

Ariel | 2 comments I just finished the book. It seemed like it was going to be more exciting than it was. I found the part I cared most about, Caitlyn in the mountain was the smallest part of the book. The majority of the book was unlikeable people making bad choices. It was hard to keep straight who was who. Why did the author have to keep calling Sean the boy? I thought the general story was good but I didn't care for the author's writing style. In the end a lot less exciting than I expected it to be.

Carmen Foster (carmenfoster) | 4 comments It’s taken me so long but I just finished it!

I really liked the idea of it, but it was just too slow and the writing was confusing at times, by the comments I’ve read most of us agree on that! Hopefully next month’s book will be better. 😊

Asheley T. (intothehallofbooks) I told myself to make it to page 50, then I told myself to push to page 100. Now that I'm here, I just don't want to read this one anymore. I think there's a super interesting story there buried underneath all of the extra words and characters and I want to know what happened, but not enough to keep on at this point. Maybe one day I'll pick this one back up.

That was how I was feeling near the middle; I was so over all the "fluff" and I just felt like trying to find a synopsis somewhere online so I knew how it ended but didn't have to read anymore. I did end up finishing it but skimmed through the middle. I heard his other work is totally different so I am curious about that.

That was how I felt too!! I felt like the story could have been so much more than what it actually ended up being.

Mary (abookwormwithwine) I’m on page 133 and I’m actually really liking this book. It’s not fast paced by any means, and some of the characters that seem to pop in without warning can be a little confusing, but I’m figuring it out. I’m honestly up past 12:30 AM because I don’t want to put it down. This is the exact opposite of what happened for me with Night Film and everyone else. 😂

Mary (abookwormwithwine) Ok so I just finished the book and I gave it 4 stars lol. Again, I was in the minority for some reason. I can't believe there were so many people that hated this book! It sucked me in for whatever reason, and wouldn't let me go. I actually stayed up late (like after midnight late) more than once because I didn't want to put the book down. I think most people didn't like this one because they were expecting something other than what happens. I tried to go into this one with a completely open mind, and apparently that worked for me.

This was my first book from Tim Johnston and I would definitely be willing to read more from him seeing as I happened to like this book so much. I just really felt immersed in the story, and it probably helped me that I actually live in the mountains of Colorado. It is always exciting to me when I read something about where I am living or have lived in the past.

I know this book got more than a little confusing though (trust me I was also confused lol). Angela apparently hearing her dead sisters voice in her head, all of the moving pieces to this story and a variety of characters.

The changes were sometimes difficult to understand, and many characters don't get introduced into the story properly (in my opinion anyway) so you have to kind of flesh out for yourself who is who and why they are there as you go along. There were also some random perspective switches that got a little confusing. The style of writing was at times a little hard for me to follow as well.

For some reason though, this book completely sucked me in and I had a hard time putting it down. It wasn't a fast paced read per say, which is usually my preference, but for some reason it worked for me with this book. I thought you really got inside these character's heads. You don't so much as get "whys" as you are seeing how the characters react in certain situations. The family is very lost after the disappearance of Caitlin, not that I can blame them. And not like they started as a close knit family since Grant was apparently a drunk.

There are also some scenes in this book that may have seemed a little unnecessary. The point of this novel of course is to follow the character's journeys (and let's face it, the family's unraveling) after Caitlin goes missing, but some things just seemed like they weren't important to the story. Also, some pieces were just downright sad. The story of King the dog for instance was an incredibly tragic part of this book, and I wish I wouldn't have had to read it. I can see why it is in the story, but it was just really depressing.

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) | 22 comments I realize I’m late to the party, but I did end up getting a copy and reading this and enjoyed it. I had no problem with the amount of characters or the way they were introduced or anything... Ha! Wonder what that says about me!?! 😁

It literally set my heart racing as I stayed up late one night reading it. I typically don’t much enjoy that much suspense in my reading, but this One definitely worked for me and O would gladly read another written by him.

That Caitlin. What guts!!
