Justbefree | 9 comments Help! What do I do in this situation? The original author's name was translated in Greek, as you can see in the cover, but it doesn't match the author's Greek profile. What do I do? Should the Greek profile be corrected to reflect the cover? Or should the cover be ignored? Here are all the relevant links:

Author's name in Greek
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Two book covers where the name is not spelled the same:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

Many thanks!

lethe | 16364 comments I don't know where the Ντε in the author profile comes from, but you can change the profile name to how it is written on the covers (and then add the name in Greek to the second book).

Please check if the accents are added correctly in the profile, it looks like they take up an extra space?

ΜΙΓΚΈΛ ΝΤΕ ΘΕΡΒΆΝΤΕΣ

(I'll reply to your other question later :) )

Justbefree | 9 comments Thank you so much for the quick reply.

I think the problem stems that in different Greek editions, the name has been spelled differently in Greek. On some covers it's also spelled in English just to add to the confusion.

Empress (the_empress) Are you able to check if this is an adaptation or abridgement? https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

message 5: by Justbefree (new)

Justbefree | 9 comments I believe it's an adaptation, after closer inspection, as it says on the cover 'Διασκευή Κώστα Βάρναλη' = 'Kostas Varnalis' Adaptation'.

Empress (the_empress) Thanks for checking.

In that case the adapter needs to be primary author and the edition separated from the main work.

I would also advise you to add "Adaptation" in the edition field to prevent re-combining. A librarian note is even better.

Adaptation does not belong in the edition field.

It could be noted in the description, and a Note is always a good idea with something like this.

Empress (the_empress) I usually leave a note only. Tanks rivka.

Went ahead and separated the edition.

Justbefree | 9 comments I googled and this one is an abridged edition:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

according to this website:

http://bookrest.in/a/3174889.html

and also a note by a librarian.
Is a note enough for that?

Abridgements are combined with the originals, unlike adaptations.

Please remove the name of the librarian from your comment, we are not supposed to name names :)

Justbefree | 9 comments Sorry about that. :-( Thank you for the clarification.
