Getting that first chapter right to hook the audience in is really important. Unfortunately I feel my books opening is the weakest part despite my attempts to redraft it. Hey Cillian!
I agree--opening chapters are tough! I've just written a prologue for my novel, and I'm hoping to get feedback about how much it grabs the interest and how 'relevant' it feels, since prologues are notorious for being a little unnecessary.

What is your story about?
I would love to swap first chapters.
My project is historical fiction, taking place in the Soviet Union in the 1920s.
