Shelly Heskett | 175 comments Thanks for responding. I agree, the stories are getting better. Having two stories going at the same time is new to me . I think after I finish the super hero I'll go back to my sequel.

Shelly Heskett | 175 comments Patricia, I meant to tell you . . .Your lead in paragraph on the Thanksgiving story was beautiful, "Fall waving goodby," great!

Sandy Carlson (sandycarl) | 88 comments Just curious... what is this superhero story about?

Patricia Lovett | 342 comments Oh wow, Shelly. Thanks.

Christene Britton-Jones | 188 comments Shelly Steve discussed some tips in October postings that I have been putting into place...mostly of me putting these three dots in my stories...trying to improve my writing all the time so appreciate all the tips I get. Those 7steps to writing from Shae are great aren't they?

Patricia Lovett | 342 comments Dittio Christine. I've picked up a lot of great writing help from this group.I'm confused about to use or not to use ellipsis in story writing. Thanks.

Shae Hamrick | 283 comments Sandy, the Superhero story references are to the anthology listed here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Check it out. It's a great opportunity to publish a story that is new. I like the limitation of not being fan fiction but a unique new superhero. I haven't had a chance to really ponder and create on this though, as much as I would like to do so, and haven't come up with a true Super. but can't wait to see what everyone creates.

And thanks everyone for the kind words and the participation here. It is all of you that make this a great group to be apart of.

Sandy Carlson (sandycarl) | 88 comments Shae, thank you. I looked up the superhero link, and (hiding head in bag) I’d even commented on it. Guess those “lots of things going on” blocked even my memory of it. So...um...thanks again.

Shae Hamrick | 283 comments yw, been there ... done that... survived to not tell the tale.

Shae Hamrick | 283 comments speaking of too busy. my computer updated and rebooted while I was helping mother and I lost half the pages I had opened to work on maps when I finished nanowrimo and everything reverted... oh happy days.

guess I need a new system of keeping up with where I'm at when I pause.

Elaine Faber (elainefabergoodreadscom) | 142 comments Shae - How and where does one find the December story thread? I'm afraid this system is NOT notifying me of comments or information ????? Even though I've checked the boxes below. Please write to me at Elaine.Faber@mindcandymysteries.com with info/suggestions.

Sandy Carlson (sandycarl) | 88 comments Elaine, December’s topic is under Embracing Life’s Challenges.

Shelly Heskett | 175 comments On using the three dots, I was taught to put a space between the dots . . . not to use them much.

Patricia Lovett | 342 comments Thanks, Shelly.

Shae Hamrick | 283 comments Dots are now all together most of the time and are used sparingly to indicate that a speaker interrupted themselves... or paused. Usually, you find another way to create a pause, such as redirecting the reader's attention for a moment.

But, I digress. They are really all just guidelines for making your work more readable.

Try looking up emdashes vs ellipsis. It's a very fascinating read and wildly varies.

Patricia Lovett | 342 comments I follow the rule outlined by Shae and I agree that they're guidelines.

Thanks.
