Chapter 23 - (view spoiler)[ That scene at Adam's house during the search warrant was brutal. Adam is now charged with assaulting a police officer. The whole thing could have been avoided if Kent had spoken to Adam first. He has nothing to do with Adam, refuses to talk to him, has had no interest in the house for years, and all of a sudden he hands over the keys to the police without first consulting with Adam? How would he feel if the situation was reversed? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 26 - (view spoiler)[ I have decided that I don't like Kent. Both brothers have issues, but I think Kent's are the worst. Adam doesn't deny that he's screwed up. Kent is in complete denial. He's convinced himself that he's forgiven his sister's killer and moved on, and he resents Adam for not moving forward.

Kent is extremely judgmental. When he met with Chelsea to arrange bail for Adam, he was consumed with his outrage, blaming her for distracting Adam from taking care of Marie when they were 17. The list of people he hasn't forgiven is growing - Adam, their father, and Chelsea.

So, it's confirmed that the killer is focused on Kent. He was challenged by his claims that he had forgiven Gideon. And he chose Rachel as his first victim because Kent used her as an example.

In the Bible, Gideon was a prophet as well as a military leader and judge. There's a lot of judgement being meted out in this book. I'm wondering if there's going to be any redemption and if the brothers will be reunited. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 28 - (view spoiler)[ Adam met Jason Bond (Rachel's) father in the prison. He promised him that he would kill the man who murdered Rachel. He's told at least 3 people that he intends to do this. Not wise. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 30 - (view spoiler)[ Clayton Sypes is chilling. I can't imagine the fear that Kent was feeling during and after that confrontation. (hide spoiler)]

Ok well, maybe Adam should kill this Sipes dude---SUCH A CREEP!! I would have been terrified for my family. Kent held it together better than I would have.

But Adam, STOP RUNNING YOUR MOUTH!!!!

I agree that both brothers have issues, Kent has his better under wraps but is definitely still struggling. Not surprising really. How do you 'get over' something like that? Neither parent got over it either... Both brothers are reacting as their characters allow.

Clayton is challenging both brothers, drawing them out. For me, his cold, calculating actions are pure evil.
