A car alarm has been going off down the street for hours. I'm hoping someone puts a rock through the window soon.

I hate chuffing car alarms. How long does a car battery last ffsake? Hope it stopped and you got some sleep Patti.Morning all.

Morning all, gloomy out, neighbour is away so cat sitting, going to a doggy park with a friend and housework. Cooking sweet and sour tonight.Sorry your evening didn't end in a pleasant way MT, I hate car alarms Patti
Morning, it’s not good it’s thick fog here. Sod’s law I woke at 5.30 and I haven’t got to child mind today. I never do weekends. Got to go to a neighbours funeral today. I don’t know if it will cheer you up MT but mine always managed it in the car on the way. At least you can clean a floor better than picking it out of car seats. Plus it’s static, the odour in a car travels with you until it’s absolutely gone. Thank god for biological sprays but they weren’t available then.

Wow, they are lovely, especially the cat one

Oh, and good morning all.Got eight adults and two children at tea tonight. And they want me to tune the little lad's ukulele and give him some tips. People who don't realise that a ukulele isn't just a tiny guitar! I can google how to tune it (so could they) but I'm damned if I can play it for him!
I need your help, darlings. We're doing a dinner tomorrow. Im going to roast a big gammon joint and I'm going to serve new potatoes and runner beans with it.
I'm thinking it'll be a rather dry meal.
Any ideas of a dairy and gluten free sauce/gravy I could do with it?
It's the dairy that got me, otherwise I would have suggested a simple butter sauce. This should work or is worth a try at least: I think soya flour and sunflower oil might make the start of a roux. You could use coconut, soya or almond milk for opacity at the start and stock or juices from veggies and the joint for flavour. I did a little experiment with soya flour as our mate wanted to make a wheat free bechamel sauce (I don't eat wheat now and have lost about 20kg since November on a wheat free low carb regime). Soya flour behaves in a similar way to wheat flour. Incidentally the brandy sauce for our Christmas dinner was made with 100% cocoa powder which will also make a roux type sauce but probably not what you want with gammon :D.
I'm not sure. It will be if made with corn or maize rather than wheat. Arrowroot is gluten free if you have that. You could make a sauce with meat and veg juice and thicken with arrowroot before serving.
Yeah, corn flour is corn.Made me laugh, seeing overpriced popcorn in the 'gluten free' aisle in Tesco.
Dave is allergic to dairy, so can't use cream nor yogurt.
Think I'm sorted. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks!
Had a lovely time with my friend, got home to decide it was too nice to do housework, so sat outside with kindle and cats, unfortunately Lucy wasn't happy about Sooty joining us. Wondering if increasing meds to help my foot is affecting my eye, so going to reduce them and think my ingrowing toenail is infected
Aaargh car vomit! Desley yuk!Jim, shirt sleeves here too.
Everyone, the blog is back again. You may all enjoy this one!
Cheers

Not gonna be much visible flesh back home today.https://www.google.org/publicalerts/a...
Yes, I'm awake at stupid o'clock again.
Hoping I can read myself back to sleep.
looks fab out there, good day for fitting out the beach hut I reckon. My talk went well yesterday, there were about 40 folk and the voice held out, more or less! Sadly their projector had a strange yellow cast to it which made all my slides look a bit jaundiced. Was nice to be driven there and back though, I don't often get to be a passenger
Morning all, didn't want to get up. Currently cool and overcast, am hoping it will turn nice. Housework and charity admin
Good morning. Sunny here but the forecast isn't hopeful. After last night's little birthday meal for our friend, we realised what gentle, quiet and elderly lives we lead. With six extra adults and two excited under-fives, it was all we could do to hear each other on occasions. They left at around 8:30 to get the little ones to bed (Oh, dear. What a shame. Never mind.) and we tackled the washing up and collapsed into bed at 9:30 for a quiet read! Fogeys!
Enjoying a gentle hour or two at my computer before a bit of cooking and knitting. Oh, and reading!
Sounds wonderful, even if exhausting. But you forget how much work those little bundles of energy take.
Yeah, lately we time our dinners for work nights. Still get all the gossip but get the sensible bed time as well.
Afternoon all - sunny this morning and then the rain started. Hubby got a new shed in the garden and has fitted it out like a little office. So, that meant me helping him to hump furniture up and down the stairs, having emptied all the contents of drawers, shelves etc. The study in the house looks like it's been ransacked, with piles of paper and stuff, loads of stuff, everywhere!!
Meanwhile, the shed office looks neat, tidy and colour co-ordinated. I've decamped to the kitchen as it's tidier than the study.
Well, the slight blue sky didn't develop into anything and we've had rain. Still working through the washing up, I made tea and dessert, had some mixed berry jelly crystals, they are a very interesting shade of blue! Decided against a bath due to my sore toenail. Sounds fun Kath. Good luck getting the study sorted Kelly
Took a fellow choir member home in the van, with her bicycle - it's pouring cats and dogs.Saw a beautiful dogwood tree on the way home; the tree had split in two, and one half was dragging in the mud, and will have to be cut off and discarded - but all of the tree was in bloom. It looked like a lady's gown with a train.

Morning everyone. I can see some scraps of blue sky between the clouds - hopefully that's a good sign.
Morning all, wet out, so much for the nice weather! Meeting first thing then admin. What an unusual sight Alicia
Looks nice out there, hope it stays dry for washday. My car played up on the way home from the funeral on Saturday so it may be the battery. Apparently if it needs a new one it has to be a special type, even OH who knows about stuff like that didn’t know either. Of course it’s more expensive - who would have thought that, enhanced price as well as technology.
Feeling a bit meh. Holiday is over. McOther officially lacks the time to plan my 50th so I have to do it in a month while I'm busy going to everyone else's.
My car had a shit-fit at the busiest (only) roundabout in Hwest. He’s coming home on the bus having managed to get it into the garage. :(Treat yourself to something really nice Mary, spa treat, or whatever you fancy. Sod ‘em!
Horrendously busy weekend... but good I hope.Got a decent video of some story telling made (The Legend of the wizard of Alderley Edge) and...
i seem to have sold the house again. It's hard to get excited.
Urgh, thought my foot was getting better, walking barefoot is less painful and showering wasn’t too painful, but got a cramp like sensation in it by the time I got to work and struggled to get in a comfy position. Anti-inflams finally seem to be working. The only consolation to that MT is you get to plan what you want. Hope the car doesn't cost too much Lynne.
We have people scheduled to pick up furniture this morning, so it's pouring water thick enough for dolphins out there. I hope I can postpone it - or there's going to be a lot of muck tracked in.
Just surfaced. Had a product submission today - got it in before the deadline with 3 minutes to spare (phew!) Now the nail biting wait to see if it gets accepted . . . .
The rain slowed - and the furniture-movers arrived with a covered truck (I was worried about an open pickup truck (lorry)).I don't know what I'm thinking lately! Stuff I've had for so long, but I don't even remember to take a picture. It's just gone - with whatever tiny trace is left in my failing memory.
Just want it out of here now. Glad someone else can use it.
