Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I've done so much knitting over the years that, unless it's aran or fair isle, I can read at the same time.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Kath,

I think that is brilliant.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Aww, that is brilliant Kath, I remember being impressed the other week when you posted about them. Good luck with the internet Will

Just started hailstoning!! Glad I'm in an office.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments In the middle of dense fog - not very usual in NJ. In fact, I can't remember the last time we were immersed in the white stuff.

In the back yard, along the fence, the brilliant yellow forsythia has burst into flower. Reminds me of the first time I saw forsythia, back in Maryland in 1978. Went to bed one night at the apartment complex and woke up next morning to an entire hillside that had bloomed en masse overnight. Quite a spectacle.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Well that's a lovely thing Kath, really inspiring.

Today has been such filthy weather - cold, really windy and sleety - that I haven't actually been outside at all, which is very rare for me. Even though I really wanted to see if there were any reduced Easter eggs in the shops!

Are you being thrifty and saving them for next year? ; )

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Certainly not, I fully intend to consume them. With greed aforethought!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Nifty thing, Kath.

Exhausting day yesterday and didn't sleep well. Looking forward to getting back to our flat today.

Jim | 21809 comments hope it went well

message 3911: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Thanks Jim. It went as well as these things do.
Very proud of Dave. He held it together during the eulogy.

Making small talk with a room full of strangers afterward was the hardest bit. I need some alone time today.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, pain was so bad last night I had to take extra tablets at midnight, struggled to wake up. My neighbour is convinced the fact the pain isn't getting better means it's arthritis, but I doubt it would cause this level of swelling and discolouration. Second part of my one to one today, hairdresser after work. Dry but there is frost on the car

Glad it went as well as these things can Patti, hope you get some alone time

Glad you were there for Dave and his family. Support is hard.

message 3914: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, all. Brighter and drier today.

Glad to hear it went okay, Patti.

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments That is brilliant, Kath. What a lovely idea. I can't knit so am super-impressed by anyone who can.

Glad it went as well as these things can, Patti. Dave is lucky to have you by his side.

Been off this week to do final nit-picky edits. Yaaawwwwwnnnnnnnnn.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I ducked out of the last family funeral, husband’s last auntie died in February. He went on his own. Sadly one of our neighbours died at the weekend so I’ll have to go next week but I’d rather go to the dentists. I dread them unreasonably.
Little great nephew is very poorly he was taken in to hospital with suspected meningitis as his rash was similar but he’s got a rare immune disease which attacks his platelets.

message 3917: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Burrows | 2 comments Lovely and sunny today - should I play golf or do the lawn...?

message 3918: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments You know what you have to do... ;)
I never understood golf, but mowing lawns is soul-
destroying!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Poor nephew, fingers crossed for him Lynne.

message 3920: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Poor wee mite, Lynne. I hope things get easier for him.

We're back in our flat. I'm gonna crash for a bit, once I get this load of washing hung.

Got Burger King for lunch on the way home and it's sitting like a brick in my tummy. Remind me to never do that again.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Good morning

Shopping, packing, cleaning.

Usual end of holiday stuff.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, still got the headache I went to sleep with. 2 meetings today, joy. Might do food shopping after work

message 3923: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, all. Already waiting on the weekend.
Hope your nephew's okay, Lynne.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, baby came home last night but he’s got more tests to go. It’s an auto immune problem in the blood so I’m not sure what’s next.
I’m glad it’s Friday it’s been a long week. Pup is one today so we can have cake and fizz.

Does the pup get some too? ; )

Glad your nephew's home at least - here's hoping he'll be fine.

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Morning everyone.

Dank here. Looking forward to our trip to South Wales soon. The Scion of the House has been bribed to stay here and look after the plants while we're away as it may turn into an extended tour. Just hoping himself's health holds up.

message 3927: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments It's dank in South Wales too, Elizabeth.

When are you coming?

message 3928: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (last edited Apr 06, 2018 03:05AM) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Yes Billy will get cake. You’ve perhaps never had the ‘pleasure’ of seeing a Doberman eat cake. He’ll get all of it if I leave it accessible:o)
Yes I second that. It’s damp and grey but yesterday was lovely. The weather changes with the tide if you’re on the coast so it’s quite unpredictable.

message 3929: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning each. Sister took me shopping this morning while husband waited fro a ohone call from the garage which has our car in for daignistic testing! They've had it two days and appear to be guessing. I could do that!
The kitchen tap needs replacing, the shower tray leaks so we need a new shower, we've got the third mouse this winter in the living room and now the kitchen sink drain is overflowing. He's not a happy bunny!

However, I'm happy. I'm easily amused. Chatting to a friend, I got an idea for another story last night - Lord knows when I'll get the chance to write it.

Happy Friday, all.

We should be there a week tomorrow, so time hopefully for the weather to clear up a bit and the temperature to go up a couple of notches. Living in optimism - that's me!

Yesterday was so lovely i spent it re roofing an outbuilding with box profile. Nearly got a tan.

My retriever is so fast at hoovering up cakes and crisps that she's changed her name from Magic Molly to Shovel-mouth Molly

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments We left clear blue skies in b'wade yesterday, only to return to grey and overcast here.
I don't recall ever seeing a completely cloudless sky here.

message 3933: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Morning (or afternoon, I've been on night shift so I'm a little confused!) I'm on holiday!! Got just over a week off so I'm going home tomorrow morning. Narla's off the the cattery this afternoon, then I'm off to a manager's leaving do and for a climb before coming home to finish the packing and tidy up a bit before I go. In a couple of days I'll be in warmer weather!!
It's amazing how much difference a bit of sun can make, Wednesday night was awful, snow, rain, freezing. Last night going into work felt soo much better because of the sunshine. Pity the night didn't continue on such a good note but it made a nice change!

message 3934: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I've just spent a wasted hour and a half in Lloyds bank.

I went in to draw a float for tomorrow's bookselling event in Swansea (Geekedfest Swansea), and was told my card was held pending enquiry into a possibly fraudulent transaction on the card.

I have every sympathy with the view that Amazon are a dodgy concern, but not to the point where a card debit to their marketing department constitutes a reason to block my bank card!

An hour and a half to sort that out! I feel a letter of complaint coming on

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Your not having a good time of it with corporations lately, are you Will?

Have a delightful time, Claire!

Gorging on seafood tonight as we won't be having any for a few months.

Scampi and haddock. I'm hungry now but Dave tells me it's too early to start cooking.

*sob*

message 3937: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments You could begin with starters. Then have a little inter-course (steady!) drinkie. Then cook the main later. If you're still standing.

message 3938: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments It's frightening how we think alike, Kath.

Tiding over with some mixed nuts and a wee glass of wine.

Home is best if he's safe there. I hope the stress stops soon - your whole family is affected, and there is so little you can do. Thinking of the little one and his parents, especially.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Best wishes from me to the wee boy too Lynne.

I am also enjoying a formidable g&t with barbecue coated nuts. Which are delishus.

message 3941: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I've got a huge bottle of gin in Baku but haven't been able to find tonic lately.

I should bring some in carry on.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I have tonic syrup in stock for emergencies such as that. Dilute with soda water/fizzy water to taste

message 3943: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Now that's clever! I didn't know that was a thing!

Is it available at supermarkets?

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I’m not sure Patti tbh, I ordered mine from Amazon. I’d think wine shops and the like might have it though. Certainly not seen any in our Tesco!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I swear they're making wine bottles smaller. We've had to open another!

message 3950: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Nope - it's just that wine glasses are bigger.
