Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Cinderelly.

We had mahoosive hailstones here earlier. They made a real racket on the roof.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Been a lovely afternoon here. I spent it with my kindle, curled up in the sun streaming through the window.

I could do with some woodland creatures to clean the flat.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Is that no Sleeping Beauty?

Loving evening here too. The sea appears to be steaming, slightly. Should I be alarmed?

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I can never keep my princesses straight.

I'd blame the sea on global warming.

I have. 4 four times now. Each time the sale has fallen over.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments And the BT resurrected internet service is as reliable as a dodgy builder.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Well, I'm suffering, but had a lovely time in York, ironically apart from one shop, everything else came from shops we could have gone to Manchester for! Picked up a pair of boots in Primark that said £16, they scanned at £6! Now just have to hope all my new dresses fit, couldn't be bothered trying anything on. Only had a little bit of rain.

Do hope you get some luck soon Will. I wouldn't be alarmed R. Sounds a good way to spend the afternoon Patti

message 3758: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Kath, I think I'll wear the new jacket and old shoes combo to a dinner tomorrow night. Let's see how that works out!

Hi Maki, nice to meet you.

Hope you're happy with your dresses, Desley.

Nearly the long Easter week-end and I am off on hols next week. I'll be catching up on all the masses of stuff I am behind on.

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments I got some new Nike Air Max trainers the other day and they're brill.

I popped the bubble on my old pair just to see if there was much difference.

And was there?

And how's the new job? Or haven't you started yet?

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Good morning!

Apparently, the queen has a person who wears her new shoes to break them in.

I need one of those.

message 3763: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Morning all. The BBITW is back from a Duke of Edinburgh camping expedition thing. Which seems to involve buying a lot of junk food from campsites and motorway service stations then lovingly preserving the empty wrappers for parents to deal with.

And don't even mention the state of his undercrackers.

The amount of beardage that a 17 year old can grow in a week is truly frightening.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, disturbed night sleep but Lucy didn't ask for breakfast till 8.20. Pottering this morning, then going to Hebden Bridge, turns out I have 2 friends who grew up with each other then lost touch, so all 3 of us are going for a coffee and catch up, really hoping they still get on! Ringing the podiatrist when they open. Dry again, let's hope it lasts.

message 3765: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, everyone. Frosty outside but not too cold. Really looking forward to the long weekend.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning. Hope you get some help with your foot Desley, expédition my OH used to go sailing results in stinky clothes and sweetie wrappers. He survived on Mars bars and whisky on one race. That’s a real balanced diet.
My first brother in law used to ask my mum to break his shoes in as her feet were half a size bigger than his. Her reply was unrepeatable. Big feet run in our family:o)

message 3767: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! Just been pimping my wares and advertising my new book on the interweb. Now I'm off shopping.
Hoping to get some gardening done this aft. We have loads of the small daffs - like the wild daffodils - and they're a joy at the moment.

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Morning everyone.

Lovely morning here. Just about to don wellies and tackle some of the bog growth in the garden. No frost, just squish!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Pissing down here now. Looks like it's settled in for the day.

message 3770: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments BT now plan to send an engineer to examine the internet issues for me. No doubt it is another excuse for shoddy work somewhere that they will try and blame on me.

I'll be so please to get out of here!

message 3771: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Let's hope when you finally get moved, it's to somewhere with a decent service.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments It would be heaven on earth

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Podiatrist app is 19th April. I seem to be limping better according to my friend! Had a lovely afternoon out, friends got on like they hadn't not seen each other for years, and came back with lots of goodies. Tried my dresses on, like 4 of the 6, although my neighbour says one doesn't suit me. The ones I don't like cost £11, so going on the charity pile, not worth time or petrol.

Good luck with BT Will

message 3774: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments 3 more weeks with the foot? 'Limping better' - not exactly great.

So sorry. Do try to stay off it.

message 3775: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Morning

No other service provider you can use, Will?

I don't understand why internet is such a problem in 'developed nations' yet so good in developing. Actually, yes I do. It's all down to competition.

Rest of the week will be catching up with some jobs that need doing in the house...

Not this time as I've done most of the sightseeing that Edinburgh has to offer, going to Mary King's Close though, which is a brilliant insight into old Edinburgh.

message 3784: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Morning everyone.

Sun with sleet flurries this morning.

Coming to the reluctant decision that it's time to sell my car. I haven't needed to use it for months so it's really just an empty nod to independence. However, I want to keep my no claims bonus so it's onto the internet to find an insurance company who will do that for two drivers of the same car.

message 3785: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Been shopping and now sipping a mimosa while bacon and black pudding sizzle in the oven.

First cooked breakfast of the 'holiday'.

Got all the fixings for a seafood stir fry for dinner, too.

Mind you, after this breakfast we may not want more than toast this evening.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, I have more movement and less pain in my toe but really stiff after all the walking this week. Going to try and catch up with my housework and some admin today

Any mimosa left Patti? Sorry to hear about your car Elizabeth. Enjoy Edinburgh Les.

message 3787: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Loads left, Desley. If I have another, I may as well write off the day.

message 3788: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning everyone. Kind of damp out, but we're going to eat burgers in the park anyway. The trick will be deflecting the puppy.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning, been out in the wind, rain and hail helping at an Easter egg hunt in the local park. Amazing how many turned out despite the conditions.

The excitement yesterday was nearly jumping right out of my skin when the church clock struck two while I was up the tower looking for the hanging thingies for their art exhibition. It was LOUD. (And five minutes early)

message 3790: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Morning - just!

I haven't been to Edinburgh since I was about 6. My Dad's best friend was in the Scots Guards or something and we got a private tour of the castle. I remember peering through a hole in the wooden floor, where a cannonball had gone through. Or so said the poor young (no doubt bored) soldier who had to escort a 6 year old around, whilst the grown-ups had a drink!

It's raining, it's pouring and, after the wine I had last night, I may soon be snoring! Only had a couple of glasses but don't usually drink during the week.

It's a day at the laptop for me.

Enjoy your day.

message 3791: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning, each! Just back from B&Q where we bought a neat bistro table for outdoor breakfasts - when the weather's a tad warmer!

message 3792: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments We won't be going for a walk this afternoon as I'd hoped. It's miserable here.

Oh well. Will have to read instead.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments We’ve been gardening thank goodness all the bins are full so we can’t do any more. OH fell sideways off his ladder while cutting the holly. Thank goodness he didn’t land in the holly. Rosemary gave him a softer aromatic landing. Thanks Rosie. That clock must have been loud. I’m off to make a pizza. If I have wine with it I’ll snooze the afternoon away.

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Afternoon. Productive day writing essays yesterday, still a fair way to go before they're finished but much further along than I was.
Been climbing again today, and I'm back again tonight, will only get one climb next week and none the week after so I'm making the most of it. Think I'll be aching tomorrow though!!
Get to go home in a week so can't wait for that!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Dave is whinging that he's hungry.

He can wait til I finish this chapter.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Ended up with an offer of going shopping with my neighbour, so said yes - when I said I was stiff her reply was 'I told you you'd suffer for doing so much, now you won't be able to enjoy your weekend' - but I see it that I had a lovely few days catching up with friends and going places while we had nice weather, and now the weather is getting worse and all I have left is housework - split it up, picked 4 things today and done all 4, although not touched any admin. Looks like it's going to bounce down, hope it waits till after I've cooked tea and taken it to my neighbour!!

Glad you have internet Will. Enjoy the climbing Claire

Damn brain.

Jim | 21809 comments have to go to Sheffield, need to wake up at 5:30am
Can do that without effort, so why do I wake a 4:30am when it's hardly worth trying to get back to sleep?
