Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yeah, I got the gel ones from a cheap shop.

message 2802: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Because the memory foam ones do work (but as you say, pound flat in short order) I'm going to look out for gel ones now. It was more seeing what worked. Just had a look on Amazon for some gel ones

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Think I paid a fiver for mine. Got Dave posher ones as he was having heel pain. £10 for his, if I recall correctly.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Well I’ve seen three friends here this week who don’t weigh as much as my dog. One has an excuse, she has been very ill, but the other two who only weigh 40 kgs made me feel like the elephant in the room. Diet tomorrow.

Come and visit me Lynne - you'll feel like Kate Moss!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Hmm, might have to get some more insoles, I used to have thermal ones but might try gel, see if it helps my arthritis. Eye been bad today, hopefully just cos I'm tired. Managed to scan the cat, got lots of greek and vegi food from Lidl and sorted out an animal food order - for 5 different people this month!

Sounds a lovely sight Jim, glad your foot is better. Oh dear Lynne!

message 2807: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments 40 kgs!

Make those women some cookies!

Oddly, our telly just switched on of its own accord. We may have a ghost in the machine.

I found cooked lamb in the freezer rubble this morning. Erm. At least I hope it's lamb.

Making it into this, anyway.

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Morning all, from the early shift. Isn't it always the way? You switch your alarm clock off for the weekend but you wake up at the same time anyway?

Need to buy some office supplies today - a water bottle and a mug. Then it's a haircut. Buying a season ticket.

Everyone have a good one.

message 2809: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I slept in until 5:45 this morning. :D

Change of plan. Dave wants pizza tonight and Curry tomorrow.

He's willing to make the dough, so okay.

message 2810: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Not sure what today will bring. So far, drizzle

message 2811: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Drizzle?

That could be a good thing if connected to lemon and a cake. Or it could be a bad thing if associated with precipitation.

message 2812: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments If I had one more egg, I could make a cake.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, still feel tired, don't think having a little drink was a good idea, woke up at 6 with a pounding headache. Got back to sleep but Lucy woke me up at 10. Raining here, but only have to go as far as my neighbours, she's away for the weekend. Need to do housework but foot really sore so will have to alternate with watching TV. Fajitas for tea

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Lovely day here today, blue skies and sunshine and not even a hint of a drizzle

Make a smaller cake Patti.

message 2815: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Or I could go to the shop.

Or I could stay on my couch and continue reading my book.

message 2816: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all!

Nicer weather finally. Think I might go for a run.

message 2817: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Now I feel like I've really started my new job. I've just bought a new mug. That makes it official.

message 2818: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I lifted my arse and went shopping. Go me.

I've got a cake in the oven and a slow cooker full of baked beans, as well. I rock.
I'm working all next week so I've gotta make a weeks worth of food this weekend.

I'd like to know more about the mug, Will.

Details, man!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments I should do some cooking but didn't buy any veg - might be able to scrounge some from my neighbour

message 2820: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'm going to do the proper veg shop early tomorrow morning. Way too many little old ladies in mouldering fur coats and head scarves in the way this afternoon.

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Like it! There's a funny thing about the new office - nobody has an office to themselves. The boss, the boss's boss and the boss's boss's boss all sit within a scrunched up piece of paper's throw away from me.

We're all sitting on each others' laps in an aggressive hot desking arrangement. No sight screens, no privacy, nuffin'. If someone has a smelly falafel we all get to "enjoy" it.

Back in the old days when the bosses had their own offices you could find a quiet corner to go and have a snooze. Or play solitaire or Tetris while pretending to be working on a spreadsheet. Or have a scrunched-up paper and waste-basket tournament.

Not these days.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments All sitting in each other's laps? That sound like a party game I have played....

(and the game when I started work was Leisure Suit Larry)

Fuckin hell.

We don't even expect our students to work like that. Well, I don't, anyway.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments Good headphones. Noise-blocking headphones. And all the niceties of doing things in public.

I could never work like that; fortunately, my writing is in a solitary room half a house away from the husband who like to pop in for a chat. I indulge him when he makes the effort.

message 2828: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Apparently there are quiet spaces and "reflection rooms". Whatever that means.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Phew, between feeling drained and my sore foot, I've only got halfway through the housework, can't do very much without needing a sit down, hopefully the magnet I put on my foot this morning will work and it will be less painful tomorrow. Neighbours lodgers are eating out tonight so I don't need to cook tea, will be something small to put in the oven, then treat myself to some crisps or something. At least Lucy listened to me when I told her she had to make sure I had regular breaks, we've had lovely snuggles today, until she got tired and had to go upstairs to bed!!

I'd be seeking those out.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments And today the earth moved - for real. A 4.4 earthquake with an epicenter 18 miles away.

There was a huge bang, the couch shook violently and the house rocked for a moment.

Then the dogs went back to sleep as if nothing had happened

he's still too shaken

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Husband has switched on the Winter Olympics. I don’t want to watch a bunch of folk sledging, really. Save me please.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Actually found a way to distract myself by playing idiot commentator bingo. “Has she done enough?” “She’s just made one mistake” “ looking like she will hold on to a bronze position”

message 2836: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Do as I've done with the stupid football and stupid rugby with Dave.

Make him watch it on the laptop with headphones.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Was it sunny in Wales, it was thick fog here all day. Got to laugh haven’t you. My thin friend stuffed me with hand made chocolate truffles, this afternoon, well you’ve got to be polite and eat them haven’t you.

I would happily make the sacrifice and eat them for you.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments That’s so kind of you, GL. There’s some tiny meringues as well. She makes them with the egg whites left from the truffles.
If I did come to see you I might be as thin as Kate Moss. That ferry would certainly make me lose my stomach contents. Just the thought of it is enough.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Oooh meringues! Yummmm! I will definitely be your food eater any time :)

message 2841: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Morning

Grey and dismal. So is the weather.

I feel like spending the day eating bacon and chocolate and drinking champagne.

Wonder if I could convince Dave to go the brunch.

message 2842: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all.
Clear and sunny today, though not especially warm - I've been able to put washing out for the first time in weeks.

message 2843: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Morning folks. It's curtain o'clock. I haven't a clue what weather we've got. I assume there is some.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. Still away from home but away from the earthquake zone.

message 2845: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments No brunch today. Dave is banging away at his laptop. :(

You lot can have your rain back. I got soaked just going across the road to buy veggies. Tsk.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, woke up early, medicated Lucy, fed 9 cats, tried to go back to bed and failed, unfortunately for Lucy who was enjoying sleeping on me. Charity admin, then housework. Foot no better, but elevating it gives me pins and needles and its more painful the longer I sit. Will try having a bath this evening

Apart from bacon, that sounds a good day Patti. Me and Lucy would help with meringues Lynne, we had almond ones last weekend

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Lovely morning here, we’ve had an earthquake here too this morning. Only know because I’ve read it in the paper. There’s often tremors at Nice, so its not unusual but this one was in the Var.

message 2848: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments The colleague I'm covering this week is off training in India, so I'm inspired to make a few curries. Lamb rogan josh, aloo jeera and a mixed veg curry. Also gonna make homemade roti. Don't think I've made them since Nigeria.

I'm going to make Dave chop the veg. I can't be bothered.

message 2849: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Was away again at the end of last week but am now home for a few weeks (I hope!).

Yesterday was a gorgeous, sunshine day and today it is pouring with rain. Mind you, I don't intend leaving the house so no problem there.

Sounds like you're on a cooking-fest this week-end, Patti. Hmmm curries - delicious.

I'll be bunging a chicken in the over later and that will be that.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Nope, you're not the elephant, they are ALL ill. Nobody healthy weighs 40kgs unless they're under five ft tall. Are they? I'm 5ft 7 and I weigh over 70kgs when I'm a size 8 and look like a Belsen victim. Obviously I weigh a great deal more than that now!

Cheers
