Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I don't know what its like out. I'll just take a peep at the weather radar...

Nah, not raining here.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just tickled up a drabble instead of going out to get soaked!

Dear old BookHippo is trying to widen its drabble author pool. I've posted in the appropriate place but I know some authors come here quite often. Could you write a 100 words story (excluding the title)? It's a jolly good exercise in not wasting words! BookHippo is a free daily newsletter with offers, price drops and freebies and there's almost always a drabble at the end.

Jim Webster and Gaff have had them featured in the past. There's a link on the Drabble thread so I won't clutter up the Chat one.

Nearly lunchtime. What shall I have?

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Just done a blog post from Setting Tripwires for Granny and other Tall Family Tales. Today I shall mostly be packing for our peripatetic week round Britain. If you feel like a gander at the post, here's the link.

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Hellloooooo - finally got back home this morning. I left on the 2nd. My flight into Heathrow arrived at 4.30am! My flight to Jersey landed at 9.30am. Grrr. So tired I am nodding off at the keyboard. Have just read through the 170 or so posts I missed. Loads going on, as usual. Should be editing but too sleepy for any of that nonsense. Trying to stay awake so I go to bed at the normal time tonight. Going to have a takeaway and a nice glass of red wine and then sleep.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Well, as usual day didn't go as planned, trying again on wed to sort out paperwork! Got yummy food and an interesting food shop, really struggled to get anything decent in Lidl. Didn't do much housework either. Just attempted to buy 2 kindle books, 1 99p, 1 49p, my pending order is for £1.23! Maybe thats why its pending

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Good morning, lovely friends.

Salmon pink sky here. Rather pretty.

No excuses to not go out today, it seems.

message 2660: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments apparently today our rain will be served with a side order of sleet

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Woke up to sunshine and blue sky. Now it's grey and raining. That walk on the beach may get deferred. Instead I think it'll be breakfast and some food shopping at the local farm shop. Then it will be head down and I'll work for the rest of the day, catching up on everything I didn't do whist travelling.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Lovely here. Had a nice walk and got some food shopping done.

Roast beast and rice pudding to cook this afternoon.

Love rice pudding - Yum - what kind of beast are you cooking?

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all. Locked in a battle of wills with the puppy, who will not settle for love nor money.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Happy Sunday! Off to see son, his wife and the Grand Boy. And it's sunny!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, the heavy wind cleared overnight, dry and sunny but phone says snow. Housework today, foot now feels like the pain is round my bunion, so prob my arthritis

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I hope you're okay for tomorrow, Will!

A lovely hunk of beef from M&S we brought in our suitcase, Kelly.
Feeling a bit recovered yet?

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 6903 comments Lovely day here in Oxfordyshireland and I don't have to go stand in a field and watch child number 1 play football, so a win all round.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments At what age do you get to stop watching child's football?

message 2671: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments About when child 2 starts playing.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Patti (baconater) wrote: "About when child 2 starts playing."

I really can't see her playing football, unless she can wear a ballet outfit...

Ooh Roast beef followed by rice pudding. Any room at the table?

Feeling a bit more in this time zone, thanks.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Silly amount of leftovers just went into the fridge.

We'll be having Sunday dinner 2.0 tomorrow.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Well, interesting day - went to make a cup of tea earlier, swept the kitchen floor while it brewed, picked the cup up to find tea on the worktop, put it to one side while I wiped the worktop, picked the cup up again to find more tea on the worktop - there is a slight scratch on the outside of the cup which is clearly making it leak, so put it in the bin - good job I got 4 new ones for Christmas!! Went to empty Lucy's litter tray to find she'd not only overshot the tray, but missed the puppy pad, so was all collecting under the litter tray and the skirting boards have warped so need to find a handyman to see what we can do to fix it. Been snowing/hail stone most of the afternoon, roofs and cars are looking white, cat isn't happy!!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments We’ve just checked into the hotel and it was snowing hard in Essex. Not settling on the road though so I hope it doesn’t freeze overnight. Our catering arrangements today weren’t brilliant. The bread I made yesterday for sandwuches was heavy to put it mildly, and the hotel did Sunday lunches but not evening dinners. The dogs ate better than us today.

message 2677: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments today we've had rain, sun, hail, thunder and lightening, the electricity has gone off twice, briefly, and now we have snow
Just went out in it to take Sal for a walk and it's thawing on the lanes

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Oh dear Lynne, hope you have a better time tomorrow. Interesting weather Jim! It's getting very white here, and the sky still looks full

message 2679: by Loretta (new)

Loretta (lorettalivingstone) | 419 comments Yaaaay. Managed to get out for another walk. Plus saw the great-nieces yesterday. Played horsey with the oldest one which was lovely as they live up north and she didn't remember me.

Walked .64 of a mile. I'll stick to that for a few more walks then up it to .76. I'll get back to 2 miles plus yet - as long as I take my time. Ankle's still a bit swollen so I want to take it easy until it's completely back to normal, but it felt so good to get out.

Catherine Byrne (katarina66) | 49 comments Lovely sunny Sunday. Took the dogs to the beach.Love the sound of the surf breaking over the beach. Hoped it would clear my head so that I could get back to my writing. It was only two degrees though, fine when the sun was on my face, but not so when I turned my back to go the other way, so I didn't stay for long.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, snow is disappearing but lots on the car so need to leave early. Think I've got a quiet day

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments M-m-morining all. B-b-blooming c-c-cold here today!! Hope it warms up a bit later, I'm sat here in my coat, scarf and gloves!

I'll see if I can rattle off a drabble or two in the next few days, but it's really busy at the moment with it being half term next week. Perhaps I can get a couple out to BH next week.

message 2687: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. That's my boy, Gaff. Yours are always good. Best of luck with the new job, Will.
Off out in a mo to look for a new vacuum. The old one breathed its last on Saturday. Had to sweep!

message 2688: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Not working today but still a busy day.

Lovely here. I've got the balcony door open.
At this rate, we won't have any winter.

Found gorgeous leeks at the shop yesterday, so couldn't resist making a leek and potato soup. Smells marvellous.

Gonna relax a while before my lovely man gets home.

The snow is melting in what currently is rain.

Hope you're having a good morning, Will.

Better luck on the food front today, Lynne!

message 2693: by L.A. (new)

L.A. Kent | 3925 comments Wow, must have been great. Jealous! You also must be close to the beach! If we saw them from our house we'd have had the highest tide ever or just finished off the magic mushrooms!

message 2694: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Abbott (rachel_abbott) | 230 comments Ha ha! Yes, we have the sea on three sides - no beach, though - just rocks. It can get a bit hairy in a high tide when the sea is rough!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments How lovely. If we had them swim past (we're near the River Hull) they'd be well lost!

message 2698: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Abbott (rachel_abbott) | 230 comments We nearly always have a seal bobbing around, and a couple of months ago there were three, including the baby. But the dolphins are a first.

message 2699: by L.A. (new)

L.A. Kent | 3925 comments I always take a camera when I go down to the beach just in case - wouldn't want to miss them if they're there!

Used to see them sometimes on the way into work when we lived in South Africa - from the road into Cape Town from Hout bay.

I have fallen victim to the cold that's going round. I have every confidence that it will soon morph into manflu.
