Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, that idea of treats is good so long as the pup can’t go looking everywhere. One Christmas when I was a child my grandmother played with the dog and hid a bone behind the cushions on a sofa, Christmas morning mum got up to find a snowstorm of feathers everywhere. The dog couldn’t find his bone so he looked in the cushions.
I had a very rude awakening this morning, I forgot to click the alarm off, that shrill shrieking doesn’t half wake me up. Oops.

Tim | 8539 comments Morning all.

the downside of having a lazy weekend is, you've got to work extra hard to catch up! Ho hum!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12594 comments Morning, feel slightly better than yesterday, but not enough to go to work. Not quite the day off lying on the sofa I wanted. Window is wet, not sure if its raining still

Know the feeling well Tim. Not a nice wake up Lynne. Lucy has a treat ball to occupy her when I leave

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I can’t really leave any toys with Billy. He decimates industrial toughness kongs and there as risk he’ll eat the indigestible bits and have a blockage. He can only have toys supervised. I bought a treats ball dispenser from Kong a few weeks ago and it lasted all of 30 minutes before he broke big bits of plastic off. I have got some I can stuff with treats but you still have to watch him. Besides with 2 dogs they could get into an ownership dispute. The spaniel thinks everything is hers, so Billy swats her with his big paws and they have a session of grumbling.

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Morning. Got a meeting this afternoon about doing an adult training training course at work (cos I like keeping busy) and I've got to submit my latest essay. Still managed to have a lie in though, three days of leaving the house at 5.30 is more than enough for me!!

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Feeling a bit thick headed and not encouraged by the fact McOther has woken up with full on flu. McMini, of course, is fine. Really hopeI will be too.

Cheers

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Max is only small at present, so we can leave toys with him, and he has a large playpen when we're out to stop him rampaging around the house.
Still has his destructive moments, though!

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Good morning all, just. We had a fine time at the private view yesterday, it was very busy with arty types, and then enjoyed a meal en famille before all catching our respective trains back to the teuchterville/the big smoke as appropriate.

We were very amused to see a squirrel boarding one of the Edinburgh city tour buses that wait on Waverley Bridge. Must have been a tourist :)

message 2360: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (last edited Jan 29, 2018 06:25AM) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Billy had a playpen. It was a good idea. My glasses case got chewed last week.
I’ve got daffodils out in the garden. That’s early.
I’m on here to stop me nagging a small boy eating one pea at a time while chivvying along because we’ve got to get ready to leave in 10minutes and my patience has long gone. I’m prepared for the tantrum when I take the plate away. It’s going to happen but I’m not looking forward to it. Kids!
Ps. I had a brilliant idea and let the dogs mug him. They cleared his plate and he thought that was a giggle, job done, I’m home now and enjoying a well deserved coffee.

Snap - (although I presume that you mean dive.)
I'm hoping that I get everything finished but can't see the prospect of any time off soon as I have so much other work to catch up on due to having time off running mum to appointments, visiting her in hospital, time off to be with her and sort out a couple of mornings of daycare. My house needs a whole week at least to get it back to something resembling tidy and all I want to do at the moment is sleep.

Oh and morning afternoon.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Disaster! My cleaner is s retiring ... quite suddenly. She's only coming once more and then that's it. Gulp. It will take me, literally, ALL my spare time to keep this place clean without someone hoovering through once a fortnight. Have a lovely friend who started a cleaning service after her and she's just retired too! Aaaargh! Trauma!

Cheers

MTM

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12594 comments Hope the tantrum wasn't too bad Lynne, hope you find time to catch up and sleep Janet, hope you find a cleaner MT, I keep contemplating one

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Afternoon! I assumed Will meant dice as in chop. You know, slash and burn!

Which I'm doing at the moment. Yet another edit - different book. I have four at the same stage on my hard disk. I'm currently knocking them into shape. Don't actually need to write anything new for a couple of years... but I shall!

message 2365: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I suspect dice was a freudian slip, in connection with 'prepare for cooking'...

message 2366: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Oh dear. The early evening news had a shot taken inside a library, and I recognised a book from the image of the back cover.

That's true geekdom!

(FYI it was Foxglove Summer )

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12594 comments Hmm, still feeling achy and sick, probably wont be going to work tomorrow. Have done a bit of housework and a bit of the charity admin, including starting to organise a fundraiser next month.

message 2368: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Sorry you're feeling rubbish Desley, hope you're better soon.

OH! MT, the cleaner situation is not good - not good at all. Good luck in finding a fab replacement. We've been through loads and went without one for 3 years. A friend suggested her cleaner last summer and our goddesss has been with us once a week ever since. Hubby, who has moaned about every cleaner we have ever had, can't say enough good stuff about her.

I am stuck overnight at Gatwick due to fog. On the 7.35am back to Jersey tomorrow. I only came to London for the day. Grrr.

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Hope you feel better, desley!

Morning, all. Awoke with a chesty cough and I'm hoping it doesn't develop any further - I had the flu jab a couple of weeks ago, so that ought to give me at least some immunity.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Another full on day of tax work. Deep joy.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12594 comments Don't feel quite as bad as yesterday, managed to make a cup of tea without feeling sick and needing to lie down, but very snotty so taken a day off. Eaten a honey and ginger biscuit and feel sick. Need to do some housework and some charity admin

Sorry you got stranded in London Kelly. Hope your cough doesn't develop Benjamin

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning, all. People are having probelms, I see. Travel, health, or in Will's case, wealth - and not necessarily his own!
Gloriously sunny day here in Daggy Bottom, but the air temperature is LOW. Can't like it.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments We've got sunshine but it's COLD!

Spent a double lesson discussing Animal Farm with a group of very switched on teenagers. Great fun!

message 2374: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I remember being amazingly impressed with that when I was in my teens. Haven't read it since, though.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Hope you feel better Desley and Benjamin. My daughter is suffering at the moment with the same sort of thing. Day off for me today. Just got washing/ironing and baking to do, that’s all.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I'm all sniffley and bunged up. I think I have a cold. I knew going out and being around other people was a bad idea!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12594 comments Just heard that there are 8 people in my wing off, we have a few that rarely come in so around 17 of us!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I made Pad Thai for dinner. Quick and easy to throw together after a hard day at the chalk face but tasted nothing like proper Pad Thai.

I need another trip to Thailand soon.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments McOther has board meetings to attend so I can't do the usual Sussex trip. I'm secretly grateful for a day off.

message 2384: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I've got an unexpected day off, too.

I'm using it to turn ingredients into food.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12594 comments Morning all, was woken up at 5.20 by the wind hitting rain/hail against the window so hard Lucy came running for reassurance. Was supposed to snow today. Now feel sick and headachy, very snotty so rang in sick again. Rescue lady is coming at 10 to pick up food, need to wash up.

Enjoy your day off MT, Will and Patti

Me too, fed up of being ill. Keep getting heavy hailstone, better than the forecasted snow I suppose

I came to the decision that HMRC hates accountants and has designed the tax year to destroy their lives

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Morning. Was sent home from work last night feeling awful. My crewmate diagnosed me as coming down with a bug and my manager told me I looked like shit so I decided bed was the best place for me! Feel much better (I think) just with a sore throat now, so I'll probably be back in tonight. Going to have another snooze before I make up my mind though!

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Just accountants?

Morning all. Sunny but really cold wind

Done the shopping, stashed it all away - let the day commence!

Claire, I'd have a nither day off if I were you. Your body needs time to adjust after being ill.

Haha! Just read this - nither is local parlance for perish with cold. As in ' It's nithering today," and it is!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12594 comments I wouldn't go in tonight Claire

message 2396: by Benjamin (new)

Two small returns, one big return (ie more than a days work) plus two sets of accounts for Companies House, still to finish this afternoon.
