Morning all, stupid neighbours dog was barking till midnight last night, so don't feel refreshed. Housework and a couple of errands, bit slushy out
How do? Been writing drabbles again. BookHippo was pleading. On with the show - more tweaking of WiP.
M.T. being M.T. might or might not get round to mentioning her blog. But frankly I'm mentioning it here, because I think the tale of C S Splitter, (and his boss) deserves wider coverage than just down in a blog thread.

every so often you read something and realise that there are decent folk out there. So read it :-)
Oh, thanks Jim, I have popped it on my ranting thread now. There's a much better version of that story on JA Clement's blog but it is a wonderful tale in itself. And the book's good!Cheers

Am exhausted again, panicked this morning when it started snowing so did the errands first and got one shop to take my copper and one to take £20 in loose change which included the 5ps. Not sure how I did my housework and a friend popped round. Now bagging money
Good evening, don’t talk to me about cats! Friday morning was fraught. One kitten knocked a plant and glass thing onto the floor in the kitchen. Don’t know what the glass thing was as it just shattered everywhere, I cleaned it up, daughter was cross, we had ‘words’ and the other kitten went out the back door when I took the bits to the dustbin and never came back. I went out looking for her but had to leave it to take Grandson to school etc. I kept going back and was frozen looking for the damn cat as I was sure my daughter would be upset. The kitten came back when she got home. I worried myself for nothing.

Morning all, got woken up at 7.20 by the foster cats knocking something over! Very sinus-y today, but at least I'm not as stiff. Hopefully time to type up minutes and check charity email before getting some training on our website, update said website and pick up a 10year old cat whose owner has died. Better not snow
snow blowing in the rainNow to go and feed sheep.
As I walked up to church i thought to myself, "At least I won't have to go and check the wintering hoggs because I'll have seen them"
I have seen them, it looks as if one of the little sods has its head caught in the netting at the far side of the field, so I'm not even sure whether it's caught or not
Good morning. Is there no end to this rain? It’s awful. Everywhere is thoroughly sodden. I’m so glad I haven’t got horses anymore, I can’t even let the dogs loose in the garden. Well I can but I’d have to hose them off after every scamper round. Yes the little cat was cold, her nose was bright red. The back gardens have plenty of kitty hidey holes, I’m shutting them in and they are staying in in future. My nerves are stretched enough.
Morning! Hope your 'little sod' is okay, Jim. Drabbling again. I thought I'd exhausted all my 100 word ideas but they keep coming. Now I'm back in the editing!

Nice one, Jim!
Afternoon all.Snowing wholeheartedly here and settling comfortably. I'm wondering how accurate an increase of 8 degrees forecast for Tuesday is.
Himself hasn't been well and finally went to the GP to have Vitamin D deficiency diagnosed and tablets plus folic acid tablets prescribed. I settled for an over-the-counter dose to see if they made me feel more inclined to cope and do things. (This post may mean they're working...)

Yes, I fed the others, checked everybody else and then went up to check the wintering hoggs again. If it had been stuck it wasn't stuck now so I turned the quad round and headed home through the rain which was just starting up again to get my dinner :-)
Will wrote: "On the plus side, the rain might have washed off your quad."When I got back from church I had a coffee before going out again. For once my timing was perfect, it had almost finished raining when I went back out, almost didn't rain when I was out, and never quite got started just as I came back in for my dinner :-)
My plan to hide the broccoli from those who might abuse it and turn it into flavourless mush has backfired. I now have a head of crisp yellow broccoli because it was in the dark. Oh dear...
stayed in and tried to get some writing done because I looked out of the window and saw how ghastly it was :-)
Haven't left the house today. Did some editing and just faffed about really. It is raining here, and cold, cold, cold. Still no snow. Doubt it'll get this far south, which isn't a bad thing. I have quite a bit of travelling coming up and don't want to be stranded on-island when I have somewhere else to be or stuck in the UK when I just want to get home.
Phew, another full on day, just put some tea in the oven!! Think I'll have a bath tonight, steam might help my sinuses. Very productive meeting about our website, and picked up a lovely cat, but her eye looks a bit suspicious, so she is off to the vet tomorrow. Did forget to do one errand though, and put petrol in the car, so will need to do both tomorrow. Has snowed here, but it was so wet it just looked pretty on the hills.
Usual east Anglian snow here. Fell for four hours but didn't sit. Stayed in the warm after church. Incidentally the auto correct gave me Anglican for Anglian and when I looked to correct it the only alternative it offered wad Croydon ... mmm go figure.

That was my evening meal :)
Morning all, woke up congested and with a headache, that's going now I'm sat up. Need to shower and wash my hair, get some petrol, call at the volunteers house I should have done yesterday, take the cat I picked up to the vet (at the moment the Halifax branch, waiting to see if someone from the Walsden branch can take her), go for a meal, do the food shopping, go to the post office, wash up and do the fosters litter tray. Oh, need to put a washload on and iron. As its raining, I'd rather have a sofa day
Morning all.Alicia - "tea" all depends on context.
If you're talking to a builder it means PG tips, milk and three sugars. Ta, darling.
If you're talking to a health fanatic it means hot water flavoured with nettles, camomile or some other such sweet-smelling leafy thing. No milk or sugar.
If you're talking about food, in the south of England it means cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut orff and some frightfully tempting little cakes. Around 4 pm. With your little pinky raised and the working classes dressed in black and white pinafore dresses. Including the women.
In the north of England, tea means your evening meal. You have your dinner at midday and your tea when the sun goes down. Just before Coronation Street starts.
Will wrote: "Morning all. There is no rain. Should I be concerned about this strange climate change?"
we've got something similar, but at least there were a few drops in the air to give us some hope that normal service was still possible
Good - erm, no longer morning! We did a bit of faffing around at the shops this morning. Came home with birdseed!
Done another drabble for the Hippo. Now to edit!

Thank you, Will. I know some of these things subliminally (all those British, etc., novels, you know), but the word still means a hot beverage in my literal little mind, and putting that in the oven seems... strange. I mean, by the time tea is a hot beverage, cooking is in the past.
I don't like tea. I don't like coffee. I never drink a cup of either, so I'm a poor person to have an image of pleasantries which include tea and something else (it's ALWAYS the tea with tea people), but I'd absolutely love some of the little cakes (that's me, always stealing only the part I like), and I abhor cucumbers, so that part you can keep.
So much so that my beta reader, a lovely young American from Louisiana (how I found her, and the universe put us together, I will never understand, but I am eternally grateful) had to point out, that, in the South of the US, it is always 'iceD tea', not 'ice tea,' and really 'iceD' makes more sense - just a few days ago.
My character doesn't drink iceD tea, but her friend does, and it cropped up in a recent scene, and I got it wrong - and never even thought to check.

Now I'm slightly confused. If it is iced tea, as in tea that has been frozen to ice, how can you possibly drink it? Is it served on a stick and licked, like an ice lolly?
Gingerlily - The other Stroopwafel Sister! wrote: "Here are some little cakes for you Alicia. Will, its cold tea with lumps of ice in it."
It is actually made by taking hot tea, and pouring it over ice (usually in a tall glass with a metal spoon to prevent cracking the glass when pouring a hot liquid over ice). The powdered stuff is a modern 'convenience.'
Thanks for the cakes, but now you've made me hungry! They look scrumptious.
Had a lovely meal, and a nice catch up, but so full I just want to sleep. unfortunately can't do that, haven't done enough tasks yet. Might just iron enough to wear something for work tomorrow and then lie on the sofa and chill.
