I misread that as 'human pie' at first. Would that still be very surrey?

Sounds very yummy!

Hummous pie sounds interesting. Got a recipe?

We've still not had anything close to a snow day. We've had at least one by now every year in the past. Sucks.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'm afraid Dave has man flu. He ate up all the paracetamol I had in my backpack today, insisted we got a taxi home from work as soon as we dismissed the kids, didn't want dinner, just tea and bread and is now cocooned in a duvet on the couch and making soft mewling noises.

He better not give it to me!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12594 comments What an interesting day weather wise – alternating between so much hail it looks white out, to sun!! Came in to work to find an unopened 40 pouch box of Whiskas on my chair, unfortunately there is no note so I can thank the person!! Had the result of the ‘investigation’ from last week, bit of a non event really

Houmous pie sounds very interesting.

Is there any possibility it's just a cold? Or is the flu rampant in Baku? Hope he's better soon.

message 2058: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Dunno about it being rampant in Baku but it certainly rampant at school.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments OH has gone for a flu jab this afternoon. My sister is ill with it at the moment. Little Harry was a star, the doors opened to let them in, he gave me a kiss took his bag and dodged through two Dads’ legs and went straight in. Magic.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12594 comments Will wrote: "And the house sale has fallen through yet again..."

Oh no!

Keeps going white here but its hail, so isn't lasting

message 2066: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Well done to Harry.

Will, what a nightmare - sorry to hear the sale fell through.

Desley, glad the outcome was a non-event.

Rain is pouring and we've got a red storm warning and heavy thunderstorm warning.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Sorry Will, you must be fed up of getting your hopes up only to be disappointed again. It’s hailing here in really sharp bursts. Hope it doesn’t snow - I don’t like driving in the snow in a little car.
We had a quote for a new boiler today. Old one working OK but did you know they aren’t allowing spares to be made for old type boilers. Its apparently a government thing to push everyone into having condensing boilers, not 100% sure I believe that.

message 2068: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Lynne, I think it's right actually. There's a huge drive to upgrade everyone to the new, efficient boilers.

We've another viewing now on Friday. We are so useless in England & Wales - we need to have the Scottish system on house sales, which stops idiots like that.

message 2069: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (last edited Jan 16, 2018 02:02PM) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Yes, in France as well you put a non returnable deposit of 10% when you make and get an offer accepted. It really is an incentive to be serious about a purchase. Husband believes that to be true about the boilers as the engineers keep telling him there’s no parts for ours. I think he’s going ahead with it it anyway.

message 2070: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Still can't believe how inefficiently you lot heat your homes. We'd have died in Canada if we used your systems. Certainly gone bankrupt, anyway.

Good morning!

Dave is staying home today. He had a rough night.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all, current snow level = meh.

How many times is that now Will? You must be completely sick of it.

I have a cold bug thing. Shaking so much last night for a bit I couldn't hold a mug without spilling. Poor night's sleep and currently radiating heat like some kind of storage heater. Even my hair hurts.

message 2072: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments Sorry you're sick, Rosemary. I know the feeling of hurting hair.

message 2073: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh crap, Nosemanny. Hope you can shake it off and it doesn't get worse.

Dave sez he's feeling better now than he did last night. That's always the way though, isn't it? Being sick always seems to get worse as the day goes on.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Sympathies to all those with flu. Lynn glad we man is doing well. McMini cried all through his last term at one setting but loved the other. Shouldn't really have done two but wanted him to go to the preschool I liked best and do a session or two at the feeder into his school. Should have left off the school one. It didn't really suit him.

Will so sorry re house. A lovely young couple my parents know (buying) just had theirs fall through at exchange when the seller decided not to sell after all. They lost seven grand over it on surveys etc.

Had a total me day yesterday. Did what I wanted which was work on a new Zazzle store for eyebombing accoutrements. Postcards so far but there will bet shirts too. Might do onr at cafe press as well. It was grand chuckles. Also bought more wool. Put my back out. Not sure how. It was very painful yesterday but the pain is more localised today. Think I chilled it maybe. Day at Mum and Dad's today so it will get a good rest.

Morning all. :-)

Not sure that's true but it will save you cash, same thing happened to us. It cost £16 to run our old heating for four hours a day and we were freezing. New boiler costs less than £16 a day to run constantly and the house is warm. The difference is phenomenal. Get more quotes though. :-)

Cheers

MTM

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12594 comments Morning all, roofs etc are white but road looks slushy, wish I didn't have to go to work. Quiet day I think.

Sorry you are feeling so rubbish R. Good luck with the new boiler Lynne, I'm getting one when the weather improves. Hope your back gets better soon MT, glad you got some me time

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Found out I (and many others) were being made redundant yesterday.

Some buggers in India are going to be doing our jobs instead.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments The new boiler will actually use more gas than the old one. It’s got to be the gas board as we have their service contract and we are so limited for good plumbers /engineers here In our area. The boiler is on offer at half price but the labour and it’s he wants doing will cost more. We’ve got an old house with some very long runs of pipes so we’ve got motorised valves and pump the size of a small dustbin. It’s our hot water that’s not very efficient as the kitchen is an extension and the hot water tank is the other side of the house. . It takes ages to run warm in the kitchen. I wanted one of those instant hot taps but he seemed to go deaf when I told him it would be a good idea. (The only good ideas are his - silly me)

And Michael - lets hope you find something else soon. And that it's even better.

My social calender is in overdrive again. Ladies' lunch, and book club this evening. Trying to do some deep edits but I have to keep going out and enjoying myself. You'd feel sorry for me if you knew, wouldn't you?

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Sorry to hear that Mike, hope you get something else sorted soon.
I'm looking for a new boiler too Lynne, just want like for like because my water tank is brill but I need to upgrade as they don't do parts for mine now, it's as old as the house! Also need a new bathroom and decking because my decking's a death trap and my bath and toilet are starting to fall apart! It never rains! Debating about whether to just pave the area instead of deck, might be easier in the long run.
Passed my exam and first essay last week and survived my first night shift since September! Nearly tea time, stir fried steak I think tonight, treated myself to a HelloFresh box this week to vary things up.

Coming soon, a film called The Mercy - looks brilliant. Based on The Strange Last Voyage of Donald Crowhurst, and the trailer looks great even though it's Colin Firth

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12594 comments Congrats Claire. Had a pleasant surprise at the vet, I was in credit! Need to check that out tomorrow. Picked up some cat food that had been donated and got a message explaining the random cat food left on my chair, so the girls have plenty

The island has been bashed and bruised by wind and rain. We need our windows replaced and it can't happen soon enough. The frames were rattling so much in the night I thought the wind was going to batter right through them.

Claire decking can be very slippery if it rains a lot. It goes green here
