Good to hear about the cats, Desley, but am I right in thinking the cat had blood drawn, or did she draw yours while playing? Cats are such fun. On the other hand, getting old is no fun and certainly not for sissies, Alicia. I am trying not to be too much of a low-carb, grain-free evangelist but after only two months I am feeling so much better; twenty years younger, no brain fog, two stone down and normal range sugars. En route to saying goodbye to diabetes? Maybe that is too much to ask but I will take what I can get.

I don't want to develop diabetes - but constantly challenging a pancreas (and if given free rein, I LOVE the sweet stuff) seemed like a no-brainer.Also, for people who have high triglycerides, cutting the carbs seems to help, because triglycerides are made from carbs. And body fat is stored from processing excess carbs - that's what the storage system is for!
It isn't an easy path to cut them way down. I've experimented with reducing rather than eliminated, but that still leaves me with cravings all the time. I hate cravings - I don't have the willpower to overcome them.
So good luck - and, from experience, the first time you cut them works best. I wish I hadn't put weight back on - each time after that it's been harder to take it off.
When I get to the nursing home stage, I may just eat everything I really like and balloon up! Except that would make it hard for carers.
Well done Claire! While we're celebrating, I have passed my positive vetting for the London job. That means that I'm not an axe murderer or commie spy. The Mem is quite relieved.

Good morning all.
Morning all, slept well enough that I didn't get woken up by neighbours car - turns out it needs a new gear box. Still didn't want to get up though. Not sure what the day will bring, then petrol and food shopping after work.Congrats Will
Morning all. Train breakdowns today left me fifteen minutes late for work - thankfully I had an equally late crowd to hide in the middle of!
Good morning, I’ve been to school this morning. It was really good, little lad really happy to go again on Monday. The staff and school facilities in the nursery are lovely. Had a lovely little video of baby, he’s still in hospital getting sorted but he was smiling. Have a good day all.
Back on 27th November I sent a claim to Northern Rail because they'd utterly screwed up with my train trip back from SledgelitOn their website they say give them at least 20 working days, and that took it to Christmas so I phoned today to see where my money was.
The chap at the other end was perfectly straight about it, today they're tackling the claims they got on the 7th November
Because of industrial action plus sickness plus weather, they're swamped but he suggested I phone back in February

Wow!!

Phew. I finally finished chasing all the Christmas gifts I ordered that didn't actually turn up. Marks and Spencer didn't deliver, but did manage to make it up for me by giving me free gift wrapping and getting it to its destination by 27th,. Iain's cd arrived yesterday with a tepid apology. My nephew's was put on hold just before Christmas but just about arrived, I had the wrong address for my other nephew, so that as my fault, and my niece's order didn't actually go through. It's nice that Christmas is finally over - even if it did take until yesterday to resolve everything. Worst Christmas for lost gifts ever. At last,I can actually start 2018! Just gotta pay for everything now. Sigh.
Yeah, I've never thought having my family and loved ones going into debt to be a good Christmas present.Good morning!
Seems to be rather windy here again. Don't plan on leaving the house today, so it can blow all it likes. I don't care.
Have I mentioned the lift in our building hasn't worked since we arrived back? It was a bitch getting the suitcases upstairs last weekend. The water delivery guy wasn't impressed, either. He got a bit stroppy with me so I told him off. Shame he couldn't understand a word of it but I'm sure he got my point. Not my frikken fault it's not working.
Apparently the motor has been taken away for repair. If it's not fixed today, I'm gonna have to get arsey next week.
Gotta say the allure of living here diminishes every day.
Morning all, Go Patti, they won't know what's hit them. Hope the lift gets fixed soon and that you enjoy your day at home.
Chilly, chilly here. Off to meet some writer friends for our monthly meeting this afternoon. Hubby and I are out to the local Chinese restaurant tonight with good friends. Really looking forward to it.
Now for a morning of laptop faffing.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Morning all, dentist app this morning, then popping to the coffee morning to see if anyone needs buy a brick certificates, hopefully bringing back cake, then hopefully getting the car valeted. Do need to do housework. Got a subway after work yesterday, hopefully will be ok todayThat's annoying Patti. Enjoy your day in the flat. Sounds a good day Kelly
Just in case anybody is looking for a pair of boots, here's a dire warning you ought to read firsthttps://jandbvwebster.wordpress.com/2...
So, the moral is, do not climb out of tractors wearing high-helled (that was a typo, but I thought it an accurate description, so I left it) boots, lol. I promise I won't be doing that. As someone who once got the heel of my stiletto stuck in the step of a moving escalator (I managed to wrench it out in time) I'm very careful where I wear heels, haha. Cobbles can also represent major problems. I usually only wear mine to events - and take 'em off if I want to have a brief bop. Dull and drab here so I've been watching the bobsleigh and skeleton. Quite a few of the British team follow me on Twitter, so I really enjoy watching the racing when I can, and with the Winter Olympics nearly upon us, it's a delight to see the only ladies bobsleigh team, who had to fund themselves because only the men were funded (BOO, HISS!) finish this heat of the World Cup in seventh place. With luck, they may go up a few places. The men are doing well, too.
And since I'm in a sliding mood, here's a little poem. I wrote it when I watched a winter sport reporter being obliged to have a go at skeleton racing. It's based on his cries of terror! It's not great but I thought it might give you a chuckle.
You must have a screw loose,
I will not get on that.
I will not ride a metal tray
Where I must lie down flat.
I will not point my head down there.
No! Stop! Don't push me down!
Let go! No! No!
Oh, please hold on!
Oh help! I'm going down!
Ow! Ow! Ouch! Help!
I can't do this.
This course - too fast, too long.
There are no brakes, no way to stop,
And nothing to hold on.
Help! Help! Please STOP!
Dear Lord, I pray
Just please don't let me die.
Just get me out of this alive,
I promise You that I
Will be so good, I promise I
Will not be bad again!
Oh, OW! Oh, WOW! Is that the end?
Can I do it again?
Afternoon, all. Spent most of this morning being stuck waiting for the post, but now I've got a little time to breathe freely.
That's excellent, Loretta! How do all. Still editing. Trying to put my stream of consciouness style of writing into something resembling a logical order.
The ground's dry today!
Benjamin wrote: "Afternoon, all. Spent most of this morning being stuck waiting for the post, but now I've got a little time to breathe freely."Still find it charming that you lot get post on Saturdays.
I've covering a teacher who has pneumonia all next week. Same year group as Dave, so we'll be doing some co-teaching.
Or I'll just sit there and let him get on with it.

Thanks, Kath.
Urgh. Editing. That's what I should be doing today but I got caught up with watching bobsleigh and forgot. Darn it, I was doing so well, too. I edit until my eyes nearly bleed. Actually ended up in casualty once so I try to take it easier now. Got two rounds of edits done but it gets tighter each time - I hope. Once I've done all I can with it, it's off to my editor. Really must get back to it - when this race is finished. Gotta cheer Team GB on first.
Good luck with yours.

How else would we get parcels redelivered though?

No post on Saturdays? Oooh, that'd make my stiff upper lip tremble.

You'd have these at the end of your street.

I can't see them working here. I go to the sorting office to collect my parcels
How terribly uncivilised. Can you not get the staff? Seriously, what a pain that must be. I can't imagine life without our friendly and competent (or otherwise) postmen.
Good evening folks. Spent the afternoon ironing and then sorting out shirts and ties. Made little piles on the bed of keep, dry clean, charity shop, recycle.Glamorous, eh?
Loretta wrote: "How terribly uncivilised. Can you not get the staff? Seriously, what a pain that must be. I can't imagine life without our friendly and competent (or otherwise) postmen."It works, though.

You did? Or you stood there whinging while your lady-wife did it?
I can ask her! The next bit is direct from the Mem's typing fingers ..."It was Will's idea to have a wardrobe clear out & he did it entirely. I was there merely to give a second opinion when asked. Definitely no whinging."
