One of our cats can break into anything in search of food, including the bin and the microwave. I hope it wasn't the cake that got yours taken to the vet?

Christmas talk already?Wonder if Jud has her tree up yet.
Good morning!
Plan is to stop for dinner on the way home from work. Gonna have to. No food in the flat. Lots of ingredients but no food.
Jeez I haven't posted since Monday. What on earth have I been doing. Mince pies are not popular in our house. When I was little, I'd wade through one because I wasn't allowed brandy butter if I didn't eat a mince pie and I didn't like Christmas pudding.McOther's first Christmas with us Mum offered him a mince pie and he gave her a polite but very firm no thanks. Don't you like them? Mum asked. No I hate the little bleeders he replied and lo for ever unto the end of time in our house mince pies became called 'little bleeders'.
Mum still offers him mince pies but I suspect that's just so she can ask him if he'd like a little bleeder. Both my parents have a strong anarchic streak. They just used to hide it better than I do.
Cheers
MTM
Morning all, why am I up so early on my day off? One of the cats has escaped from his foster home, so have been asked to try and catch him, then me and a friend are going to Hebden Bridge for lunch. Really should do some housework.Wow, that beats my cat Benjamin, and I thought she was bad! At least she can't get on the worktop anymore. She has odd taste, and gets aggressive. Her vet visit was for her monthly acupuncture. Sorry Patti, I hate Christmas talk! That's hilarious MT, one for the book.
None of ours get aggressive, at least, but they can sadly all access the worktops via the nearby handy windowsill, though the oldest is getting a little less graceful than she used to. Hope you catch the escapee!
Morning! I've just opened a new carton of fruit juice, felt it slipping from my hand, grabbed it, and in grabbing I inadvertently squeezed it. I hadn't intended to wash the kitchen floor before breakfast. I'm not madly houseproud but even I draw the line at a sticky floor.
Morning.I'm just back from a week in Wales. We were really lucky with the weather - again! People tell me it's a rainy country, but it always seems to be sunny when I go.
Patsy, it's a bit cold and grey today.I'm spending the day working on a submission, maybe I'll have some mince pies to encourage me!
Glad you got good weather Patsy. No luck with the cat, so going when I get back for another try. No, can't imagine that was your plan Kath!
Good MorningI would like a Mince Pie free area to escape to please.
I'm
Mum still in hospital and we are no nearer finding out what is the matter. She seems brighter but still doesn't remember why she is there.
One more week and then I'm having time off work and doing some crafting with my friends. Then my lovely niece is taking me to Edinburgh for a weekend.
Mmmm, mince pies are yummy - but I won't be buying any yet. I hate the shops being full of Christmas stuff earlier and earlier each year and I know they only do it because people buy earlier and earlier.
I'm sticking with my regular pattern of trying not to acknowledge the Yuletide season before December, but it's all the more persistant each year. The local council had the city centre lights up in October, which is hardly conducive to any Halloween atmosphere...

Yayy - it's so lovely to hear someone not dissing our weather, as I'm pretty sure rain doesn't stop at the borders of England ;-)
Afternoon. The Mem and I are about to go out and do a Rotary volunteering thing marshalling the local firework display. I have absolutely no idea what that entails. Wish me luck.
Marshalling fireworks sounds tricky. They'll have a mind of their own and probably won't follow directions.Cold here today, seriously considering lighting the stove this evening. There was a fantastic moon last night but if it's clear should be even better tonight - it's full!
Will post more tomorrow, am shattered. Still no sign of the cat. Had a lovely vegan lunch, was so happy to have marshmallows on my hotchoc I didn't notice the cream was vegan! Came home with lovely goodies, cat checked out my handbag! Still too full for the calzone I brought home, might manage the cake though
I’ve been a bit quiet, a much longed for baby in the family has been born this week and the delivery was really botched. I’m being polite. They saved mum but baby’s heart stopped and he’s critically ill. My neighbour’s funeral was this week, another has gone into a nursing home and another friend has had a life saving operation but lost his eye. For some reason I find November really depressing at the best of times but it’s excelled itself so far this year.

All good vibes for the little baby - so hope he pulls through xx

Yes it’s tough on my friends and family at the moment. You had a bad patch Flo, didn’t you. It does happen. My mum always used to say someone has killed a nest of robins. The baby situation is heartbreaking for them. To make it worse her twin sister had a lovely healthy little boy this year.
Oh, Lynne. Sometimes there's too much at once, isn't there? Love and best wishes to the little one. Xx
Rustam wrote: "Hello from Slovenia. I have just entered the group so nice to meet you."Hi Rustam.
Lovely to have you with us.
Good middle of the night. Was shattered when I got home so crawled into bed at 8:30. Woke bright eyed and bushy tailed at 2am.
Had a lovely couple days at work. Not booked again until next Friday. Lots of sinus infections going round school at the moment so might get called in next week, though. Let's hope it's the night before, not in the morning!

Morning all, woke up at 6am with a sore throat and hip, then Lucy decided to be sick at 6.30. Did try and get back to sleep, but gave up!! Now feel achy as well as a sore throat, so think my plans for walking round the local reservoir are out of the window. Need to do lots of housework though, and last day of catsitting. At least I have some yummy food left from yesterday, although Lucy is really quiet and off her food, so a bit worried.
Morning all. Animals can be quite a worry, can't they Desley? If they're not happy, you're not either.Dismal day here at Daggy Bottom. A day for staying in and playing, I think.

Yeah, especially when they have multiple health issues
Good morning, the rain in the night was bad here. I’m going to patent the sound of a dog preparing to throw up, for an alarm clock. There’s nothing like it for taking you from a deep sleep to running. Hope you find your cat before most of the fireworks go off, Desley.

Hello there Rustam. Welcome to the nut house. ;-)

My bad patch was atrocious Lynne and some of the issues are not able to be resolved. We visited the sister who's in the Brithdir Care Home and the deterioration is really marked. She still knows who we are - but the constant repetition of one of our other sister's names and the gibbering are so hard to watch for the visiting time, without bursting into tears - but the happy conversational face gets slapped on before we go in. I sometimes think I'd have made a good actress!
Ken had another internal bleed last week and had to have 2 units of the best red claret transfused - and in the chat with the medics to discuss his plan of care - we were given the choice of carrying on with transfusions - with their associated risks - as, when or if needed - or stopping the blood thinning drug he's on (Apixaban) and run the risk of a stroke...... which would you choose??
Is there any further new on the little baby?
Managed to achieve a lot despite feeling wiped out, raced to my friends when the first fireworks went off because her cat flap was open, took one of them 5 mins to come to me calling, was getting worried. Coco is sitting out in the open, admittedly with her ears back, Lucy is nowhere to be seen. Also done a lot with a couple of our fundraisers. Now got a sore wrist too, and feel achy - opted for painkillers over alcohol, and snuggled under my new heated throw with my new pj's.Sorry that Ken has had another bleed, what a tough decision.
I've been so lucky with all my animals Desley - Over the years I've had both cats and dogs - and none of them has given a flying fig when fireworks go off. Do you think it's flu?? If so - I've heard that new pj's are the new cure-all - so you'll soon be better! ;-)
We are on the "stick to the transfusions" side of things at the moment - but we have an appt. with our GP next week - so we can run through all the options/risks with him then and maybe there's something that he can introduce into the thought patterns on the matter, that might change our minds.
I don't recall her being so bothered last year. Not sure its severe enough for flu. Good luck with the doc app
