I wish I could but it’s not my place to. I want to but daren’t. It’s really up to the parents to kick up but they are ‘too nice and too British’. I also think my great niece isnt well to do anything but care for the baby. It’s showing up huge holes in hospital care, they seem to be firefighting individual problems and causing others by not seeing the whole picture. It’s really quite frightening how lax everything is.

I don't see why not, you are a concerned relative at the end of the day, and as you point out, mum isn't well enough to do it.
I am but I’m not on site, so to speak. They won’t deal with distant relatives. Being ‘ nice’ is useless. You have to be firm and clear when you complain, the parent s aren’t kids, they are in their 30’s but they do need to be stronger minded and get some good legal advice. I daren’t interfere, though, I’ve done it once years ago and it didn’t end well.

For what it's worth, my friends in the NHS all say you have to keep asking them for updates. If you keep badgering them they stay on the case. What you might be able to do is ask for updates on progress as a concerned relative. That can sometimes give them a kick up the arse and make them more vigilant because they know someone is on their case.
It sounds like a horrible situation. Thinking of you.
Cheers

Lynne, I'd second Mary's comments. Getting consistent info for K's relative is like pulling teeth, with highly conflicting reports coming out and hard information like like hen's teeth. Keep pushing.
Good morning!I had a proper night's sleep and don't feel too bad this morning, believe it or not!
I need to shop. Don't care much about fresh fruit n veg but I'm out of cream for my coffee. This will not do.
Morning all, first day back after 2 weeks and I've had about 3 hours sleep! Very cold out, let's hope the heating is still working.
Morning everyone.Bright sunshine but still crispy frost white out. Looks icy on the pavement.
I've developed a tadpole-shaped floater in my right eye. Annoying to say the least!
I do hope mum and baby catch a break soon, Lynne. I must say, I agree with Mary and Will.
Full of good intentions for today - not sure if they're going to translate into resolution...
It's freezing cold here, no frost but all the puddles are frozen over and there are icles on things. Weird.
Having been outside, I'll vote with Jim. Any decent ferost that leaves the outside taps working is a good one.
Fortunately our heating is still working, although we all came prepared for it not to be, so all rather warm!! Appears I took too much stuff home over Christmas, so not been able to have my chai latte or redbush tea!! One way to help the lack of sleep I suppose. Good job I’m not starting the diet yet, it was someone’s birthday last week so we have cake this afternoon. Have you had your floater checked Elizabeth?
Afternoon. Went to a funeral this morning. A friend from the village. She was a lovely lady which was reflected in the packed church. Then I got home to find my edits back . Ooh-er! That's going to give me a few days' work but it'll tighten up the story so I can sacrifice the Words Written thread for a while in a good cause.
Ice on the chicken water this morning. I can't like winter, however hard I try.

It was never something that appealed to me. I've never liked snow that much :-(

Never appealed, I hate heights so much changing a light bulb is challenging. Eye started twinging this afternoon when we had some bright sunlight and then my cheek felt funny. Optician didn't find anything last week though
Baby slightly better today. I can’t complain at the treatment he’s getting now at the moment in another hospital as they are trying everything. All the problems come from the birth catastrophe. they have appointed two consultants from another hospital in the group in charge of an enquiry. That’s as far as I got. I’ve trodden on a few toes, I’ve been warned.

You know what they about you can choose your friends but you can’t choose your family. I know for a fact that I think differently to all of them. It’s the nature/nurture argument. I’m adopted - so I’ve not got a complex about having different views. My sister always says i see things differently but she’s not being nasty.

"We're doing everything we can" isn't very reassuring after all this time, and the family is entitled to answers. They shouldn't mind being asked civil questions.
Yes, what Alicia said.Really pleased you seem confident the baby is getting proper care now.
I woke to photos of my grand nephew in messenger. He's so gorgeous! I prefer videos, though. He's got such a fetching gurgle.
Good morning!
No cream in any of the three shops I went to yesterday, so I'm reduced to using coffeemate.
Urgh.
Good morning all. It’s warmer here 5° but raining with an easterly wind so it’s not pleasant. Got a home visit today from Grandson’s school - he starts part time next Monday. That’s a new one on me. They never did home visits in my day. I’m not sure how he will react to school though. He’s a bit clingy at the moment but that goes in cycles. He should be fine though he ready for his next adventure.
Still dark here but it's been cold. Have a phisio appointment today which is a pain in the arse because it's a horrible ride up there and I'm already behind on the weekly schedule. I'm not sure it's working as well as it usually does either.. Blew yesterday doing lots of pissy shite like putting important dates for the year in the diary (1.5 hours) trying to sort a weekend to visit my brother. Stuff that's supposed to be quick like what's app and texting takes for fucking ever doesn't it? I really must get it into my head that doing the crappy bollocks first is never viable because the crappy bollocks is never ending and will always be fraught with complications that merely expand it to fit the time available.
Grrr ...
Glad the baby is doing better Lynne. One of McMinis pre schools did a home visit. They were lovely.
Patti, I feel your pain, not that I put cream in coffee but I do find milk fairly essential.
Morning all.
Morning all, slept through but still feel tired and didn't want to get up. Grey here. Glad baby is getting better Lynne. Is it your family's toes you are stepping on? Wow, never heard of a school doing a home visit. Shame you couldn't find cream Patti
Not sure what I think about school home visit. I’m assuming a health visitor has visited all children at some time in infancy I know it may help a school to know what a child’s home life is like and may help but it’s just a niggling thought that a child is somehow being weighed up or judged. I’m not against it exactly but it puts the school in a certain position. There are many holes in social services care and I’ve complained a lot recently at the NHS not looking at the whole picture but there’s just a doubt that it’s not exactly the schools remit to be doing it. Yes, in cases where neglect is perhaps the school is the only safety net for a child at risk. I ‘m keeping an open mind on it.
Morning all, still not raining (won't last)Exciting evening planned with an 'acclimatisation' visit to the recording studios before this weekend's session in there
Morning. It's dark! Not raining but definitely a grey day.Dentist straight after lunch, too, so that chops the day in half. Could do with it first or last thing.
Off to the edits!
Eye felt better this morning, but started twinging at 12, have barely moved from my desk though – hopefully it’s just my eyes adjusting to being back at work. Coco properly swiped me last night, I knew about the cut on the inside of my little finger, but only noticed the slice on the outside of my ring finger when I put my ring on this morning!! They are on my right hand so using the mouse is painful. Did catch her playing with her tail this morning though. The charity has decided to set up a fundraising committee and as I have experience of being on one, and fundraising, I’ve been asked to be on it, which I’ve said yes to!! We haven't had daylight yet. I know what you mean Lynne, and it makes you wonder why they feel the need to do a home visit.
Everything went fine with the home visit. It was to ensure the children settle in, so questions about his capabilities and a subtle assessment made while he was playing with the toys they brought. His teacher and an assistant came, I think one went to school with my daughter. I must have been overthinking it as usual. It was as Mary said, they were lovely.
I assumed it was to help with transition, not a home inspection. It's lovely he got to meet his teacher in familiar surroundings.Oh, didn't tell you lot. A few of the kids were on our flight, as usual.
One of the munchkins wanted to sit on my lap for the flight. Was interesting dissuading her without upsetting her. Got there in the end.
Evening all,Hope everyone is well?
I have just applied for a job at the Cambridge University Press and i really want it. If you could keep your fingers crossed for me i would really appreciate it.
