Enjoyed the blog Sweary :-) although Lucy wasn't impressed at me disturbing her napping on my lap by my laughing! I am jealous you got to see Abba Voyage, it's a shame it's only being shown in London, it's a bit far for me. How lovely of him to send you a rainbow
Hey guysSorry to hear about your friend MT. Cancer sucks. It sounds like he did everything in his power to make your day as inconvenient as possible though. I bet he knew about the West Ham match!
So it's been a while!
We're a plague house at the minute, Kathleen has had a couple of tummy bugs then viral tonsilitis, Nathan is off with a horrible cold and possibly exhaustion because the boy doesn't know he needs to sleep. I'm getting a sore throat too, probably from Kitty and no doubt Gareth's is to come. It's been a run of bugs lately.
I'm coming to the end of my degree!! I finish placement this week and then I have 6 weeks of classes and one final placement after that. There's so much work to do still but I'll get there.
Now I should really stop procrastinating and get on with this essay

Godspeed! Congratulations! You're getting it done!
I'm a pro at procrastination. Still no work done but turns out Nathan is pretty unwell, no idea what it is but he only got up at 10:30 and is away for a nap now.I think it'll be several late nights for me
Evening, seemed a nice day, so when I dropped the car off for it's oil change tomorrow, I decided to walk the long way home, not something I've ever done (mainly because it's normally too dark for that!), but then I got caught in rain! Had a surprise message from a retired colleague earlier, which turned into a nice phone call, he retired during lockdown, so we never got a leaving do, so said we really should meet up for a drink. So lovely to hear from you Jud, I got excited when I saw the e-mail saying you'd posted. Sorry to hear you are all unwell though! Glad that you are coming to the end of your degree, and good luck with finishing it and getting a job at the end of it.
Bless you Desley :o)I really need to pop on more often. Sometimes I do and I see 200+ messages and I just close it down. I feel a bit daft coming in and posting randomly when I've missed out on so much news from everyone else.
I need to decide what area of nursing I want to go in to. I have no clue. The only area I really haven't liked is theatres, it's no fun when all your patients are asleep. I don't really want cardiology either, too many machines beeping I found that really stressful. I might go for a stroke ward just to get me started.
Please do pop in more often Jud, it's so quiet here these days, would be nice to see more posts, regardless of how long it's been :-)

I like hearing about your nursing journey - it's a tough but noble profession, and extremely necessary.
Evening, what a day! Well, all since lunch actually. Got a phone call from an unknown number, which I ignored, but listened to the voice mail, some company wanting to arrange delivery of my new medication and a nurse to show me how to use it - I hadn't actually heard that it had been approved, so clearly it has. Glad I ignored the call actually, I'm still unsure about changing, so need to psyche myself up to arrange that app! Then got an e-mail from the solicitors about my car accident last year, threat of legal action hasn't done anything, so now I have to agree for them to take it to court. Then collected car after work, and noticed that someone has moved in at the top of the street, which is where neighbour likes to park, so she is outside my house, but further down, she clearly hoped there would be enough space for me and the neighbour who parks in front of me, but I couldn't get out of my car, so I parked further forward. Rang ratty neighbour to let her know, and while I was on the phone, neighbour knocked on my door, I decided to ignore her. About 50 mins later, she tried again, but I couldn't ignore her that time, first conversation we've had in 17 months! I was civil with her, explained that I noticed she'd tried giving me enough space, but I couldn't get out, so she told me to park to her bumper and went back in her house.
Evening, not quite the day off I had planned, was supposed to do something with friend and her cousin, and get my sis's mothers day wax melts, but friends eldest was sent home from school yesterday, and not well enough today to go in, so she couldn't leave her. Luckily I get on with her cousin, so she offered to still go for a brew with me and give me my wax melts, then we went for a walk along the canal, and saw the heron - it was clearly trying to find food, we saw it reach in the water, but couldn't see if it got anything. There were ducks and geese in there today as well, so must be food. Was very pleased with myself, when we were walking to the canal, I noticed one of the charity shops was giving books away for free, so had to go in on the way home, but came out empty handed! Admittedly, I did come home and buy some kindle books and wax melts. Then had a nice chill afternoon.
Evening, went out with ex colleague today, we went walking round a park neither of us have ever been to, and fortunately, didn't get lost. There was a little cafe there, so we finished the walk with a hot chocolate. Then did the food shopping on the way home. I certainly am Jim! Lucy is a good helper.
I am still struggling with this essay. I have half my word count at least and still half the essay to even tackle. I just can't quite grasp what it is they want me to talk about so it's kind of difficult. It probably isn't all that hard but I just can't get my head around it. But it's the last one so hopefully I can scrape a pass and never worry about it again.Finished my placement there yesterday and I was really sad to leave so I think I'll mark that ward down as a possible job application in the next couple months. Some of the staff came over to hug me goodbye so I think a few of them must think I genuinely am good at the job for the stage am at (phew!) :-D. I love wards where patients need proper looking after but not necessarily everyone in the whole ward. It's a nice balance. I really love it (so far!) I still hate getting up early but I don't hate that I'm going in to work, if only I'd done it sooner!
Can you ask someone for more direction about the essay, or is there something written down for you which isn't clear? If every candidate has to do this, other people have had the same questions.
I've asked some of my fellow students but no one is particularly forth coming with assistance (thanks guys!). There's no point contacting anyone at this point as the lecturers never get back to email quickly. I might try and find someone on Monday when I'm on campus though.I'm hoping that by plodding through bit by bit I'll be able to connect it all together when I type it up from my notes. Think I've managed to get somewhere with it this evening (if I can still call it that when it's 2:30am). It's just too hard to concentrate when the kids are up and constantly interrupting me. I'm going to need a nap tomorrow!
Evening, quiet day, but enjoyable. My cleaner popped over earlier, she found me a 'treat' for breaking the toilet brush - a new burner and some wax melts! Love people who enable my addictions! Yes, it was Alicia, I keep doing new things - me and ex colleague have got things planned for the next two months, they will be interesting as they are places I've been to before and enjoyed, but she hasn't.
Jud wrote: "I've asked some of my fellow students but no one is particularly forth coming with assistance (thanks guys!). At least if you have all the sections you need to cover researched and ready the back of it’s broken when everything finally falls into place.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "It is. I did test out my new burner earlier when I had my bath, it's very nice."Sounds like you’ve been having a really relaxed weekend Desley. As an author, naturally, I’m always delighted to hear you are buying books. ;-)
Just had the first day of my last phase of classes. It was not worth getting out of bed for. Should have stayed home to do my essay.
Jud wrote: "Just had the first day of my last phase of classes. It was not worth getting out of bed for. Should have stayed home to do my essay."That's a pain. I hope the essay flows a bit more easily after doing something else though ...
Sorry I've been a bit MIA over the past two weeks, but my husband has been in intensive care after suffering a pulmonary embolism. He's a lot better now and will soon be moving to a general pulmonary ward, but I nearly lost him, it was an acute saddle clot. You hear all these terrible stories about healthcare just now, but the emergency response and the subsequent treatment has been as good as it could possibly have been. Not sure at the moment about long term issues, but just now he is surprising the medics with his progress.
Evening, had a frustrating afternoon doing something that should have been a quick task, and not sure what I think of our new IT bloke, who was trying to blame it on something I knew couldn't possibly be the case! Thanks MT, given that I buy more books than I read, it's a good job authors get royalties when I buy them, not when I read them! Sorry you had a wasted day Jud. Oh no R, what a scary situation, I'm glad that hubby is improving and hope no serious long term issues as a result x

You must be exhausted - take care of you first when you can.

Hope he continues to make good progress.

Evening, nice bright day, but was -1 when I left the house and 3 when I got home! Had to put petrol in on the way home (that was a shock!), had a little mooch round the shop, it's really good for a petrol station shop, got home and realised I was supposed to buy milk! At least it gave me a chance to take my soft plastic and some books to the co-op.
Evening, had a really good day at work, me and colleague got to visit one of our sites in Sheffield, it's a park/cemetery we are restoring and submitting for an award, so we needed info and pics (well, colleague did, I went along to look at catacombs!), and I offered to drive, it's the furthest I've ever driven, 125 mile round trip. Back felt fine when I got back in the office, but the 3 mile drive home tipped it over! Site was really fascinating, although the catacombs were disappointing, we've had to empty the graves as it was collapsing. One of the levels has gravestones rather than flags, I didn't like walking across those. One of the things I found fascinating was that we had to restore the path edgings, which had actually been made out of gravestones, so we've had to make some more. It tried snowing when we were walking round it, then came down a bit heavier as we were at the end, so was panicking a bit driving home, it has died down now though, although still forecasting heavy snow for tomorrow.
Evening, was glad of my day out yesterday as today I've had a boring data input task, I'm glad that I can do those WFH, its much nicer to put on some uplifting music, sing away and the time flies, plus the 'rewards' I give myself for getting through things are much nicer at home! Weather has been disappointing, it's been snowing since I got up, was just going white when I looked out at 6.45, but it's been falling and melting, so by mid morning just looked wet and miserable! It's also been really windy, was weird watching snowflakes floating up rather than down, and in the past hour, the wind has got up so much we've had a lot of wheely bins flying over (and it's bin day tomorrow, so the bin men might have fun!), ratty neighbour's just missed my car, I'd have left them lying down, but she's put them back and put bricks on top of them, hope that turns out a wise decision! Wax melts came today, one of the ones I really wanted was so strong you could smell it as I broke the first seal of the box! Then I couldn't decide which ones, so I did something new, and put grape bubblegum in the kitchen one, and nectarine+apricot in the bathroom one, the bubblegum is overpowering the other though, and I can smell it upstairs. Saving the one I really wanted for my bath on Sun. Been trying to get hold of the company for my new medication, both times I gave up after about 15 mins on hold!
California is under attack by snow again, but here in Davis we're only getting rain.Praying a lot of the snow mass melts slowly in the spring and water soaks into the aquifers.
We will be getting a lot of strong winds, too. The poor birds!
Evening, snow started sticking as I was going to bed, woke up, looked out of the bedroom curtain to find the window was covered with snow and ice, as was the front room window, had to open the front door to see how thick it was, but fortunately not that thick, although we still have some around. Had such a frustrating day that I signed off bang on time, I'd hoped to finish my data input task while I was still WFH, but no! Tried doing dartboard inspired nails ready for tomorrow, good job I did do them tonight, they were the longest and hardest nails I've ever done, run out of patience before I finished, back was sore and I was starving! Now hoping trains are running in the morning! Personally I've had a productive day though, medical company rang me back to make my app, don't know how they knew I'd been trying yesterday, medicine being delivered on 22nd, and nurse coming on 30th, tried ringing the rheumatology nurses at lunch to let them know as you need a blood test after 12 weeks, but they were shut at 12, so no idea what hours they work! Solicitor rang about the car, as I'd forgot to sign the waiver, that's done and sent off, rang Nissan to see about updating my Sat Nav, £128.50, I'll buy a cradle for the car and use that! After work I rang the beauty clinic and booked in for a foot consultation and see if she thinks doing gel nails will help, told my boss I'm not having my nail removed till after I get back from Jersey in August, got too much on in May to have it done, and I don't want to take the risk of it taking longer to heal if I have it done in June.Hope the snow melts the right way Alicia, and I feel sorry for the animals who've been out in this weather.
You've been busy, Desley! Glad some things ARE resolving themselves. The sound of rain all night after years of drought is particularly happy.
Yes, at least some things have been boxed off. I bet it is, I loved walking and hearing the rivers last year, after weeks of no rain!
We had snow but it has largely gone, yesterday was a glorious afternoon, no cloud and some real warmth in the sun. Working outside without a jacket on. Beautiful.
Euch it's a bit spammy in here this morning! We've had a very little snow, which I'm glad about, because the drive to the hospital is hairy enough without it.
Hi everyone ,I really need all your support. My book Asleep Awake is nominated for AutHER award by jk papers and times of india . Please do me favour and vote for Asleep Awake . https://autherawards.in/public-voting-3/
I will be grateful . please support us.
OK Aryama that's the third time you've posted this on this thread today and rather than deleting it straight away, this time you're going to get a lecture. THIS IS NOT THE THREAD FOR YOUR PROMOTIONS. There are plenty of other places for you to promote your own work in this group but because I'm now really grumpy I'm not listing them for you. Go and look for yourself!
Evening, had a nice day today, went out with school friend and her family, for her cousin's belated birthday, the paths to the train station were treacherous, did part of it walking in the middle of the road rather than paths, and when we went to the platform, we realised they'd barely gritted the steps, but the platform had some on! We were playing darts, which I haven't done since a teenager, and after a slightly rocky start, was pleased to come 5th! No one got a bulls eye, but I did get an outer bull a couple of times (just not the game that needed it!). Then we had some food and drink, but the table was too small for us really. Would go back for darts, but would go elsewhere for food. Had to run for the train back though, so at least I also hit my step count! Started snowing as we got back, but it hasn't done anything, although there is still snow on the street. Glad you drive to the hospital wasn't affected by the weather R.

Please take this the right way, but if you expect ANY group's members to support you in any way, it helps if you have been an active member who participates in the group FIRST. Most people listen better to people who are friends or even acquaintances online than those who just drop a request.
That is exactly it Alicia. Dropping a promo in this thread as someone who has never interacted with us, is like running up to a group of strangers enjoying a quiet chat together and shouting "READ MY BOOK!" at them. Not really likely to work, is it!
It's not R, and they aren't even asking us to read it, I think it's worse expecting people who have never heard of you to vote for a book. I'd happily vote for some authors on here, even though I haven't read their books, because I know they are nice people and would deserve it, but not a complete stranger. Thanks for the chuckle MT, funny blog this week.
Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) wrote: "That is exactly it Alicia. Dropping a promo in this thread as someone who has never interacted with us, is like running up to a group of strangers enjoying a quiet chat together and shouting "READ ..."This group has given me my own thread - where I post things that happen that are self-promotion, such as reviews and ratings - I never know how many people actually read it or even see the posts in their feed.
I like the posts here - the connection to daily life in a country with different takes on common practices, such as getting your car inspected, sometimes reminds me there are many ways to do things, and they all mostly work. It makes me less insular, even reminds me that things in Mexico, where I grew up and my four younger sisters still live, are also different. I like to believe that helps my writing, too.
Oh, by the way, if anyone here reads mainstream literary fiction, and would like to try mine, just ask for an ARC and CONSIDER writing a review. I don't insist, don't nag, but that fulfills my responsibilities with KU. It is the only way I can say 'thank you' to the nation that produced so much of this introvert's early reading experience.
Hey guys, manic weekend with, kids clubs and parties, tonsilitis (mine), bad backs (his), and snow! School was closed on Friday so kids had a long weekend! How is Mr Rosemary doing now? PE's are so scary, a girl I worked with took one during work and it was honestly the scariest (and most dramatic!) thing I've ever witnessed. I'm so glad he is okay now and you had a great NHS experience. The NHS structure is broken but the staff are [mostly] fantastic.
Just back from taking the dog for a walk with some of her chums, she had to have a bath when we got back, the whole lot of them were filthy but she had a great time.

Basically it was an incredibly cathartic and good day.
