The sheep scanner came (uses ultrasound to scan each sheep individually to see if she's in lamb and how many lambs she's carrying.)So spent a delightfully cold and wet afternoon pushing wet sheep along a race to be scanned. Ah my cup runneth over :-)

Just got my first iPhone for my birthday - and now daughter has the exact same model. Very handy for questions, plus my assistant has an iPhone.
I thought I wasn't interested in smart phones. It turned out the one I had was barely sentient, and a pain to do most things. This one is nice - I may even go online with it as the kids do constantly.
First thing I did was take some pictures - easy and they were very good snapshots. Now I have to take some time to learn more things, but it wasn't me - it was the old phone.
Patti (baconater) wrote: "I used to inherit them from a friend but he doesn't do the free upgrade thing anymore. That was years ago.I seriously considered getting an iPhone but I couldn't justify the expense."
We have bought them for very good prices because they are an older model. But my very with-it 26 year old daughter was fine even with her earlier model, so you don't need the latest. We now both have iPhone 5s. (SE?)
I've spent two days stuck in the pile of crap that is "administration", and personal stuff at that. I have been filing, changing direct debits, setting up accounts and changing passwords. Plus annual check of personal finances (then I lay down in a dark room for a bit!). Still need to change my website over, do some invoicing and clear out the 5 trillion emails in my in-box. There's always tomorrow . . . Baked camembert sounds lovely, as does pizza and any of the other treats mentioned. We were due to have turkey casserole tonight but I convinced my husband that the cooked turkey meat would have gone off by now so we're having boiled eggs and toast instead.
Don't feel sorry for him. We popped out to a local place for lunch and had chicken satay, rice and chips.
I have a Samsung phone. I only seem to use it for social media and internet browsing.
Phew, have been off a week and finally got to the bottom of the housework, and even managed a few things off the to do list, hopefully a lot more tomorrow. Went for a walk with my friend despite it raining, finally wore my waterproof trousers, the went to her house to borrow a DVD, wanted to borrow half her DVD collection!! Having a small tea, so I can have trifle and mince pie for puddingPoor you Kelly, sounds like you need a bottle of wine after that!! Hope you enjoy Jim?? fingers crossed Will
Gingerlily - The other Stroopwafel Sister! wrote: "How would you have been doing it if the scanner wasn't around?"we wouldn't, we need both him and his scanner. (Plus his portable race and scanning crate built onto a trailer.)
It's just that this period is peak scanning time, and he's working flat out at the moment. I don't know if he worked boxing day, but he'll certainly be working New Year's Eve and he might even be working New Years Day
He farms less than 11 miles away but he only got out of the yard after they'd cleared the snow so the milk tanker could get in, yet we've had no sign of snow, just endless rain
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Let's hope it sticks this time!"I bet my solicitor still invoices me for a new contract, even though this is the second time around for this buyer and she's already prepared the docs once.
Morning all.The animals managed to drag me out of bed at 5am today, and I'm still not sure whether to forgive them.
Oh. Which thread would you like your coffee delivered to, Ben?I've slopped it all over the carpet bringing it over from the welcome thread.
Rosemary is gonna shout at me.
Well, it blew a hoolie last night. We were up at 2.30am bringing a glass-topped garden table inside and checking nothing else was in danger of blowing over. We locked the cat-flap so the cats couldn't go out but I don't think they'd have been daft enough to venture outside in the wind and rain.
Been up since 7am and the wind is still howling.
Think I'll stay in the house today.
It's very mild here. I've opened the windows to give the flat an airing.Hope my phone arrives soon. We need to shop for New Years Eve food.
No idea what to have. I bought and was planning on serving lamb shanks but neither of us are fussed about having great chunks of meat.
Any suggestions?

I'll take it in here, Patti, to avoid confusing the newcomers!
(Though I feel I should clean the carpet in return)
Don't worry about the stain, Ben. I've moved a chair over it.Yes, we've now got a chair in the middle of the thread. I expect we'll have lots of stubbed toes and swearing.
Wind seems to be picking up. Sucked the blinds right out the bedroom window.
*passes Patti the wet'n'dry Henry vac*Morning all. Bit dull here today and somewhat damp. All snow seems to have vanished locally and due to the gloom I can't see the mountains of Fife to tell if there is any left there.
How about a traditional Hogmanay? This article sums it up nicely. Sorry it's the grauniad!

Not too windy here, now. However K is off to the hairdressers in Aberystwyth today, so i expect a full gale will be raging over there
Morning, each. Help - I'm turning into a cooking machine!Still, as long a someone else washes up, I can cope with that.
I'm not vacuuming! I'm on 'oliday!Just had me a bit of crumpet. Oh, er, matron.
What's on the menu, Kath?

That sounds fun.
Morning all, woke up with a headache, went back to bed, still woke up with a headache and feeling a bit snuffly. Have set 4 things off my to do list for today, want to finish one of my books and not planning on getting dressed. Was very windy here, cat has taken one look outside and used the litter tray instead! Glad the table survived Kelly
HEY!! Who left that chair in the middle of the thread?? I just banged my knee on it!Off into town in a few minutes to meet up with a friend who lives in Barcelona. I only get to see her a couple of times a year, but we keep in regular contact over facebook.
Glad you have your new phone Patti, I use the goodreads site, rather than the app (I'm typing this on my samsung). For predictive, on the keyboard, click the settings symbol on the left hand side of the space barHave a good time GL, trust you to find the chair
Hey, Patti, great to see you're still as active as ever - and Desley, Gingerlily - I hope you all had a great Christmas. I've been so busy writing, I've had no time to chat - but just came on to wish you all a very happy new year! Let's hope 2018 is full of health and happiness for everyone!

A roasted joint of local gammon. Rare breed. Even rarer now...
Hey, Rachel! Lovely to see you! Thanks, Desley. Wish I'd known it was that easy. I spent ten minutes looking through the settings before I found where to shut it off.
Next I need to sort out turning off auto play on the videos on Facebook. Stupid defaults.
I also need to get my SIM cards cut. Stupid micro SIMS.
Sounds yummy, Kath.
I'm going to do a teeny beef joint tonight. It's two days past its use by date, so we're eating meat whether we want it or not.

Have fun! I want food photos.

Your welcome - lucky that I catch that button on a regular basis, as I like predictive text - although the phone is worse at typing than the tablet. Cant help with Facebook, I don't use it. I did get sent a new SIM for mine
Well, I looked at my to do list and couldn't be bothered with 2 of them, so found 3 new things to do instead. Despite Lucy keep sitting on me, its 3.30 and I've done everything except washing up, it's my turm to cook so thought I'd do it then, and finish my book. Now sat with a sloe gin mince tart.
That sounds like a productive day, Desley. Especially impressive as Lucy is in the mood for lounging. We're having spaghetti bolognese tonight as it's seafood tomorrow so better get a meat fix in (as opposed to turkey!!!)
Hello all,Merry Christmas and all that!
Hope everyone is doing well?
I have lost my kindle!!!! Can't find it anywhere. Gonna have to get a new one now.

I just had coffee and a scone, and we were too busy chatting to take photos anyway.
'Twas thinking of you earlier today, Lindsay. I've not seen any Christmas photos of the little guy yet!Shitty you've lost your kindle! Bet it turns up as soon as you order a new one.
I'm a bit disappointed with the new phone. I downloaded the new Sherlock episodes and the end of the f***king world and its used up all the memory. It's bloated with preloaded crap I can't get rid of.
Sheesh.

Yes, I feel productive till I look at the to do list! Although I did mop the cellar trap door before putting the stuff back on it. I'll upload a pic of her forcing me to sit on the sofa. Surprised you need more meat!

I've never tried to watch TV episodes on my phone.
Sorry you have lost your kindle Lindsay, I don't think I could cope!
Younger Daughter and I seem to have got carried away and over-catered in the potato salad department. It's good for breakfast though, no?
Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) wrote: "Younger Daughter and I seem to have got carried away and over-catered in the potato salad department. It's good for breakfast though, no?"You can send some here :)
Looks like storm Dylan has hit further north than it was initially expected to. We're a bit windy but nothing exceptional
The storm warning went off on our weather station about an hour ago. Sounds pretty bad out there already. I will be enjoying a day indoors, I think :)
Morning! It's blowing a ridiculous amount out here too, we've had to shut all the windows before the blinds escape.
Morning all,Keep safe in that wind Rosemary and Ben. We have rain here but can't hear the wind so don't think it is too bad.
Going to brave the shops today, I need a new suit. Hoping to get one in the sales
Good morning!I've been up for ages but got stuck playing a game on my iPad. I waste wayyyyy too much time doing that. Oh well. It's relaxing.
Grey and dismal, rain forecast. Nothing unexpected.
Was hoping we could go out and visit a castle today but it looks like another kindle day.
Dave braved the shops yesterday and got a really nice pair of gortex shoes dead cheap. He's needed new shoes for six months so I'm pleased he was successful. Even more pleased I didn't go with him. He said even the overflow car park had a huge queue. I would have run away, screaming.
