Ro: miserable fuckers of the world unite. You are not alone. I'm feeling it more than I would but only because I did NaNo all November and so I didn't notice..."
Yes hope you're back on your feet soon Desley
Our decorations are the cards which go up as they arrive and come down when we notice they're still up :-)
And if I remember I'll clear the side table and carry the tree (still decorated from last year) back and stick it there :-)
That's our decorations :-)
And why not mention this free book here!

Ro this might be a bit much, if it is let me know and I'll remove the huge big pic or just link to my author thread ...
Officially out now ...
This isn't exactly a new release ... it's a Christmas Easter Egg. This story will be released in an extended form next year. This year, I'm giving it away because I'm feeling kind like that. If you're happy sideloading books onto your e-reader, you may enjoy this small slice of humorous dystopian sci-fi.

Trouble afoot: Parrot abroad
When Mrs Ormaloo brings the terrible news to the Turnadot Street Businesswomen’s Association that the Grongles are going to burn some more banned books on the night of Arnold, The Prophet's birthday, Gladys and Ada decide to take steps. They even enrol some of the punters from their pub to help out. The books are in a warehouse being kept under guard. Gladys, Ada, Their Trev and the rest of the group embark on a plan of devilish cunning to rescue as many banned books from the flames as they can.
Corporal Crundy is determined not to mess up his first assignment since his promotion. It should be easy. All he has to do is guard some books. Yeh. It should be a piece of cake but somehow that’s not the way it turns out.
Written in British English this is a free Chirstmas Easter Egg for MTM Mailing list users and Jolly Japery fans. Enjoy! :-)
Suggested cinema rating, PG.

Thanks MT, downloaded!

Hope you've recovered now Desley.

Have you put anything on facebook about it I can share?"
Not yet, but it's the topic of my blog for Christmas Day - which I'm setting up at the moment! :-) I can ping you a link for that if you like so you can share as and when.I was going to do it all on Christmas Day. :-)

We haven't done that much here - most of the socializing in our retirement community is in the public spaces and activities - but it is very nice when it happens.
Hope to do more - the pandemic has made huge dents in 'how we used to do things.' The new normal will be different in large and subtle ways alike - if it ever gets here.

Yes, it will be interesting to see what life is like going forward, although I do enjoy this quieter pace of life and working from home has advantages.

that works :-)

You appear to be managing it well. I'm glad it suits you, I can see it being the normal way of doing things for a lot of people soon

duct tape engineering at its finest :-)

I was always told that idleness was nothing unless it's well carried out :-)

Now that’s what I call a result!

Getting lost in a book is always a good plan! I’m sure you’ll be fine Desley.

I’d forgotten how little people with dementia sleep, during the night, that’s for sure!

If you don't enjoy a book, stop reading it. Life is too short, no matter who wrote the book, recommended it or gave you it. Put it to one side and try another :-)

I suppose at 80% you will be in the position to definitively say you didn't like it. Your not just somebody who got bored after the first three pages

No, I'm certainly not Jim, just the stubborn person who thinks it might get better!

Happy Hogmanay to all, and here's hoping for a better year to come.

One thing that falling out with my neighbour has taught me is that you shouldn’t rely on someone else for your happiness, and also that unless your likes are harmful to you or others, you shouldn’t listen when people try and stop you doing what makes you happy, so that is my plan for 2022, and my new years resolution is going to be to carry on the relaxing I’ve learnt how to do this holiday and let myself stay in bed more, if we have no plans for the day, there really is no need to be out of bed by 9am! Unless we get a nice summer then it would be a shame to waste a nice day by lying in bed.
So, not only am I excited about a new year for opportunities and reading, but also new book day and new monthly game challenge day and I don’t care if that makes me sound boring! Going to start the year by watching a film, then going for a new years day walk with a friend, and then reading, all my favourite things.

Looks like you've found your feet for this year Desley. You've made good resolutions :-)

We’ve had a lovely veg out at the in-laws. Yesterday, I did less steps than when I have flu, according to my fitbit. Had a rough time of it until quite recently so it’s great to relax. Two nights running with no heart palpitations. Woot!

She's on the other side of the continent - NY vs. California - but they let you watch with friends. Nice.
The kids are being SO good - it's hard not to see friends.

I was talking to my friend about that when we went for a walk on Mon, luckily her boys are happy to do indoor things, which has been helpful in the current climate.

Hope you have good news on the health front soon MT

I hope so too. I’m having a 24 hour ECG at some point but it’s a belt and brace rather than an OMG There’s Something Wrong! Also have been advised to take some anti-acid tablets that I have so should be good.

Everyone, I've done a free Christmas Story so if you fancy a light novella I'll post the link in the freebies section, or new releases or my bit or ... somewhere so just grab it when it goes live. It's out Christmas Day or at least, in my world, Arnold The Prophet's Birthday (blessings be upon him).
