Yeh. I'm rather dreading the thought of that. It's definitely more of a liability in than out. I think the vibes I'm getting are that they will leave it and see if it settles and then hoick it out if I have another episode. I guess it may depend on the results of my blood tests next Thursday. Hoping it will either settle down or is having enough effect for then to take it out straight away. In this area they tend to avoid spending money if at all possible so I suspect the treatment plan will be to make me soldier on until it gets untenable.
It better not happen to me: I don't eat many carbs, and if the fat isn't there I won't have much to eat. I can stand to lose a few pounds, but after that, what?

Evening, spent about 3 hours in meetings today, so feel like I haven't done much work! First meeting was with retired colleague, we've talked him through some of the new procedures, and given him some stuff to read before he starts in a couple of weeks. It's now official that colleague is taking over as line manager, but we had a positive meeting, she says she's not going to change, and if we think she is doing things wrong, to shout. She is fine with me doing half days, which was one of my concerns, and isn't even bothered if I don't come in for some of the Friday meetings, I thought I'd be in every Fri, so that's a bonus. Also, getting a 3% pay rise, not sure what that will work out at till the end of the month, but better than nothing.

Oh dear Michael, that doesn't sound good, hope that the bathroom ceiling isn't too expensive to fix.
Morning, a weekend with no plans and rubbish weather! Not even many chores. Coffee shop lady is trying to persuade me to try pumpkin spice blondie, not sure I have to say!

Well ... It's not gall stones, they were worried something was up with my aorta but found a scan from 2020 which I'd forgotten about because I have blanked that year from my life. 🤣🤣🤣 On it everything was far too fine for me to be in life threatening trouble now. They asked me to come to them straight away next time it flares up so they have a better chance of seeing what it is.

Hopefully I'll be also feeling better soon. I do feel better than yesterday but not well at all. Again though, I'll take any improvement as a win. 🤣🤣
So glad to hear from you MT, glad that they have decided you can't be in life threatening trouble, and hopefully they can figure it out at some point. Glad you feel better than yesterday, hopefully you'll improve on a daily basis

It’s probably a chest infection, or possibly a light dose of pleurisy. Neither is fun but I can deal with them. Tested and it’s not Covid! Woot.

That scan from 2020 was providential - how wonderful to have gotten something so helpful from THAT year. So relieved to hear for you.

Ugh, been there, done that, but they gave me antibiotics which did also work for the infection that causes stomach ulcers and I've had far less indigestion ever since!

Evening, you can tell people are taking notice of last week's e-mail, first time in months I've passed anyone on the stairs when taking the weekly report to old boss!! I didn't tell neighbour till tonight, she took it well, although pulled her face when I said we had to do weekly tests, you'd think she'd be glad of that to prove we aren't having cases in the office! Prob going in on Fri, as it's a shorter day, it's a good way to show my face in the office without having as much time in it!

Evening, the candle shop was open today after their two week holiday, so I went to say hello, luckily neighbour needed some stuff so I didn't come away empty handed, and may be going back next week for a Halloween box, apparently wax melts last forever, so could even save what I don't use for next year! Need to go to the coffee shop on Sat, we do some kind of pink fundraising thing in the village in Oct (I've never worked out how changing your shop window for pink things raises money), and they are doing a special pink blondie and £2 of each sale is going in the charity tub. In the office tomorrow, got a potential 2.5 hour meeting, then going to the retail park, mainly for my neighbours.

Evening, rather tired now, feeling less happy at helping out while colleague is on maternity leave, forgot how frustrating retired colleague could be! Did manage to get a couple of things for myself at the retail park, although was torn between 4 winter throws, so will have to go back with someone to help me decide. At least neighbour gave me some home made stew for tea, and I treated myself to subway for lunch tomorrow.

Morning, bit of a mixed day, started off well, went to other neighbours and took the stuff I'd got her from retail park, and ended up chatting about an hour, then had a couple of errands to do, which included getting a pink blondie, I asked how the fundraising works, and the shops just do individual things, they are donating proceeds, the charity shop is doing a raffle, so I had to go there and buy some tickets - may have also bought some books too! Then went for a quick walk with a friend I haven't seen much this year, which was nice. Unfortunately then it went downhill, neighbour accused me of something I haven't done, so I walked out. She came over about an hour and a half later, and asked me again, and I denied it again, but she started bringing up stuff, including something that must have happened two years ago, then said she was annoyed enough to want to throw my key back at me, and proceeded to throw it on my floor! Part of me doesn't want to fall out from an awkwardness point of view, but part of me thinks if she can't accept me denying something twice, then does she really think much of me as a friend? So as if my birthday wasn't jinxed enough, I now don't have a catsitter!

Morning, obviously had a rubbish night sleep. Luckily walking friend had already offered to do something today (that also didn't go down well with neighbour, she was like 'oh, she'll only ask when it suits her' - kind of thought that was what friendship was about really, meeting when you are free!), although its a nice sunny day, so would have gone for a walk with my book anyway. Do have some Sunday chores to do as well.

She certainly has been hard work recently, so negative about things, hence why I've had to increase my reading target twice this year, have been spending less time with her and reading more

I remember a wise friend commenting that when somebody is in a hole, it's easier for them to pull one person down than it is for one person to pull them out. Apparently it's a Nigerian proverb

Evening, felt a bit nervous driving home in case I bumped into neighbour, but I didn't (have seen her through the window though), did see other neighbour, and apparently she was told yesterday we'd fallen out, I was hoping she would catsit given she's offered previously, but she felt a bit awkward, so I respected her refusal, but still leaves me without a catsitter! I haven't actually felt the need to go and chat to her, after work I went for a little walk, and then have been reading. My only concern, which I did mention to my boss the other week, is that most of my hobbies are solitary, and now I don't have someone I can just pop and chat to, especially now the weather is turning, it won't be as easy to go for a walk to hopefully bump into someone for a chat.

Sorry to see you and your neighbour having a falling-out - and it affecting you. Considering how many things you have done for your neighbour, often going out of your way, it seems shortsighted of her.

Evening, had a rubbish night sleep and weather has reflected my mood, especially this morning after I lost an hour of work! Did feel like I was missing conversation this afternoon, so took MD's advice and rang someone with a work query, but someone I know is always happy to have a 10 min non work related chat. Think I may be happy to be back in the office more, it was neighbour's reluctance that was the issue.

Lucy however seems quite happy for me to be in the house more - she did sometimes come over and shout for me!! Yes, would be nice to make a new friend, is it sad that I'm a bit excited at more TV time?
Had a rubbish sleep, too - the weather has changed from needing AC to be able to breathe and think, to needing the heat on to not freeze. And putting an extra blanket on in the middle of an erratic night. Fortunately, I'll get two hours of an assistant this afternoon - I get much more done with her help.

Evening, had a rubbish day at work, managed to miss a deadline as I hadn't made a note I was dealing with it on colleague's behalf, and the person responsible for sending me the stuff put it in a folder, but didn't remember to tell me. Luckily I haven't been told off, just told to do something so it won't happen again, but didn't stop me getting worked up about it, glad I was working from home. Did have a nice lunch break with friend, we shared a blondie and a brownie, which also meant we helped raise money for charity. Was nice to sit in the cafe and have something to eat and drink off proper crockery. And she has agreed to look after the cats, if neighbour says anything, she's just going to say 'speak to the hand'!

Evening, day didn't start off great, with another problem to fix, but then this pm, the client from yesterday allowed us a second chance as long as we sent everything by 5pm, so that was a big relief, although we ended the day with bad news! I went to candle shop at lunch with friend, I bought wax melts, she got an ice cream. He is doing a rum and mince pie milkshake, but I can't bring myself to try it in October, told him I'd be back next month for that. I'm still enjoying my new after work routine of reading, playing games and watching TV, hope that lasts. Lucy seems much happier at me not spending time at neighbours.

Not according to my latest book, they aren't, but who really knows? It's not really a 'been there, done that' sort of place!
Evening, rubbish night sleep. Not a bad day at work though, got a couple of things boxed off and luckily the Amazon order came, as there was something for my nephew in it. Sunny day but cold, I have been out a few times though

Morning, can't believe it's a year today since my mum passed, doesn't feel like that long. Am taking my sis and the kids out for the day, so they don't mope around the house, and I have some treats for the kids to try and cheer them up. Friend dropped a card and some treats round last night, will share some of those with the kids too!

I'm sorry it sounds like you've been having a really crap time Desley. Glad that you found a cat sitter and to be honest, I'm with Jim on the needy neighbour, she does seem to really take you for granted.

I seem to be going through an alert phase. The next K'Barthan short is just short of 10k so I'm reet happy. At the moment I'm really enjoying it, I've no idea what's going to happen so I'm addicted to writing it because I want to know what's going to happen next.
Is it the book I'm supposed to be writing?
Nope. :-) Ah well, can't win em all. I went to the second hand shop yesterday and basically found my entire youth in 45s and bought about 30 and two cds. They gave me a discount so instead of £35 it was £20, which was incredibly generous of them. They get loads of records and CDs so I'll definitely be checking there regularly. Also bout a CD from another one by the Script, who appear to be a kind of Irish version of the Killers. Dead chuffed with that.
Have been trying to do more stuff so went to see Ed Byrne on Sunday with a fellow writer friend who is based here in Bury. It was great fun. He was funny although it also kind of made me realise that I might have been a better stand up comedienne than I thought. There was definitely a hankering for performing, I do enjoy doing live events.
McMini had a school concert so I watched him drumming ... they were playing Seven Nation Army by the White Strips and Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple which was the same as the one they did two years ago ... three days before lock down 1. It was great though because all the musicians have come on so much. There were two of everyone except bassist and I was very impressed at how well McMini and the other drummer worked together.
Friends round tonight and if I can I'll publish a blog post! It's all go!
Haven't been on here in ages - sorry. Mind you, haven't done anything in a while - the day job is extremely busy but is getting a bit easier as we settle back into the office.

MT, so glad you're enjoying the writing. It's a lovely feeling to be desperate to know where the characters will take you.
It's a beautiful day in Jersey but I'm tucked up in the house as have a head cold. Feel a bit better than yesterday, so it's going in the right direction.
Now to go and read through all the posts I've missed.

Fridays, eh?"
I hope you cure that cold, the sun will eventually shine again, and who needs a bathroom anyway :) If the leakage comes from your neighbor above you (if you have one), then it's his insurance that should cover it.
