So far it's actually finer than this morning

What a pain, Desley. The amount of time you've spent following this up is outrageous.

The truth about trees
is that
there are silver butterflies
atop
the Tollesbury waters.
The truth about trees
is that
your hand, your hand
feels so very fine
in mine.
The truth about trees
is that
I am astounded
by your love.
May you gaze deep into the wow of your soul.
May you see the sun in there, the rivers, the mountains, the clouds and the dawn in there.
May you see the stars in there, the rain, the wind and the universe in there.
And when that time comes
for you to tell
the story of your life,
may the tale you tell
be quite
extraordinary.

You're getting there :-)

Yes that is rude.

I was annoyed with her, if she'd asked nicely, I'd have happily gone back, ironically it worked out better for her and the shop that I said no, as when she went back, she got an ice cream which she really enjoyed. She did at least thank me yesterday for the errands she asked me to do and finally paid for everything

Happy hot saturday everybody!
Having played all our cricket games so far in cold, wet and windy madness, we finally get a warm day and don't have a fixture!
In other news, we are starting our camping sojourn in the mother-in-law's garden as of tomorrow. Can't beat a bit of Walden!

Ah, modern life.

Well, she was at it again yesterday, just complaining that she couldn't get two places of cake and expected me to complain to the shop, think I might start 'forgetting' to tell her where I'm going and use her trick of 'sorry, didn't know I was going till I got there'

Desley you should ask your neighbour if she wants some polish for that brass neck!

Seems entirely wise, some people just take advantage

Hope you get some decent weather now R

Glad the neighbour is behaving better. Sympathies re Lucy. McCat caught a pigeon the other day. I could hear him playing with something and I knew it was a bird because he was being furtive. We have managed to rescue blackbirds from him but this pigeon was very dead. I still haven't told McOther as he'll lose his biscuits bless him.
I used to worry about McCat eating small furry and feathered people, but while I try to discourage it, he and his ilk are probably killing less or our songbirds than grey squirrels which, sadly, though cute are omnivorous and eat baby birds, small song birds and eggs in a way the red ones they have superceeded didn't.

You live by the sword, you die by the sword.

Domestic cats marauding are a major cause of the loss of songbirds, I read.

Possibly, but here we have grey squirrels, who are omnivorous and eat a lot of baby birds, eggs and small song birds. Obviously the red ones they replaced were herbivores so our song birds aren't set up to defend themselves against squirrels. There's not many natural predators to them either and of course unlike parts of the US where you still have your Apex predators, ours are gone so there is nothing eating the foxes and badgers - hence our hedgehog population is dying out. Originally humans were the apex predator but we're too squeamish to kill the surplus foxes, badgers, magpies, jays etc and they all eat song birds. Plus we're digging up their habitat; hedgerows. So ... cats are probably just the icing on the cake.

Yes, I did read a few years ago that the thought that cats are the major loss of songbirds is incorrect, I actually think the real cause was humans ruining their habitats. Neighbour put a very loud bell on her cat, but it hasn't stopped him this year, we think he found the nest and was taking them out, no bell will stop that.

Thanks Jim, hadn't thought of doing that - I'd obviously washed my skin. I've just rinsed it with plain water, there was nothing obvious on it.

Just had a bit of a debate with my neighbour, she tried giving me a thank you for all the shopping/errands I've done recently, and I refused to take it (I told her when she got me thank you's after her op that it was too much and I wouldn't take any more when she has her next surgery, unless she gives a donation to charity) - I was relieved to know she does appreciate me running round for her, but don't want/need a gift for it. She tried saying I should accept it because she wants to show her appreciation, but I pointed out that isn't respecting my wishes that I don't need gifts for doing things (and have already tried a few years ago stopping buying gifts when we go on hol, just accept we do it for each other, but she refused). She did randomly bring up that I used to get her little bits when I went places and stopped, I did point out that I mainly go out places with her now.

She may realise she was a bit out of order and is wanting to make amends.

Hmm, I'm not sure about that MT, it is a lovely gesture, I don't like accepting gifts when for the majority of the time, I'm not going out of my way, I'm getting her stuff from where I'm going anyway

Hope you is all dandy.

Are we running off the end of storage space?"
Never had any problems. Sometimes threads crash but this has been around 40,000 long

Morning all. It's been a cracking week here, weather-wise, and sales-wise. All these extra holidaymakers who would normally be abroad seem to like buying art :D If it carries on like this I'll have to start painting with both hands at once

Glad the paintings are selling well R, and glad the trip went well this week MT
