Nice to hear from you Janet, do hope your mum isn't in hospital for anything serious, and glad you've had your jab.

MorningFeeling sorry for myself today. I'm all achy. Youngest has brought home a cold as well so got that on top of any symptoms the jab has given me. Good timing.
Hope it is nothing serious with your mum and Janet and she gets home again soon
Morning all sunny and windy here. I'm beginning to think it'll be windy forever, it was the same all last year too. Hope everyone is dandy. Have some writing to do this morning. Can't wait!
I call it the coastal permagale :D - and it's certainly blowing a hoolie here again.Although you aren't anywhere near the coast are you Mary!
Good to hear from you Janet, best wishes to your mum.
Mwahahargh! I think him upstairs heard me complaining. The wind has dropped to a breeze for the first time in weeks. Wonderful. It isn't coastal permagale here it's East Anglian Permagale.
After days of heavy winds, our part of California has settled down, and the flag no longer looks as if it is being tortured.
Evening, had a manic lunch break, I needed some cat litter but Pets at Home were doing a 20% offer on your first repeat delivery order so I bought more than I needed, they sent my 10 bags in 9 boxes, then an alert that part of the Zooplus order my neighbour had me do on Sat was coming with the same delivery driver. It was supposed to come after I got home, but arrived early, found my neighbour on my doorstep rolling boxes in my house, I stopped her as I wasn't convinced bags of litter would cope being rolled over the doorstep and doorframe. Turned out that despite there being plenty of spaces in the 9 boxes, they are sending a single (small) box of cat food on its own on Wed, I suspect it got missed. I thought the DPD man would hate us, but apparently he was jolly, despite the Zooplus box being way too heavy. Managed to find a home for all of it, but can't get all the cardboard in the recycling bin - and we borrowed a neighbours!! Wind finally dying down here
Despite the weather I’ve got genuine bluebells out (and some of those sneaky foreign ones). Blossom is just. breaking on the cherry tree. Spring is coming. At least if I know we can’t go to France I can put a few more things in the garden that I don’t usually do as I never see the best of them.
Afternoon, nice enough to peg washing out today. Supposed to get up to 19, but looking at the wind, suspect the wind chill will knock it down a few degrees.Thought you were allowed to travel to check on a second home Lynne? Forgot to ask, Jim, I keep reading mention of cake to feed the cattle, can you post a pic of what that is please?
OMG It’s boiltronic here. Wonderful. There are lots of young women walking around town in dresses that are only marginally larger than the masks they’re wearing. McOther would love it up there today. I just spent nearly a hundred quid on easter eggs. Fucking hell! Although that probably isn’t so bad for three kids, four adults and an 8 person care team.
Yes it's very mild here too. Upon reflection it was a mistake to go out with the thermal undies on :D Still windy though...Desley I think cattle cakes look just like the ones you buy for rats and small rodents, only bigger.
Feeling like I've got my mojo back as I have finished another painting today.
I think this sudden little burst of warmth is making us all feel better. Over on the word count thread we’re all just saying the same thing about our mojos. It’s the light and the warmth. Nothing beats it.

Hi Desley
It's not exciting

they get 'extruded' through dies and the size depends on the die size (think icing being forced through a nozzle.
I think the standard die is about 8mm

Especially with the year behind us damping the ability to function.
Desley - the rules are really strict. Unless you are a certain politician’s dad you may only go to get it ready to rent out or sell and they wouldn’t take your word for it. You need legal documents to prove it. So no chance until it’s all a bit clearer. I’m not doing anything silly - I’m sticking to the rules. Besides there’s so many more cases there than here it’s not a good idea.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "Thanks - not at all what I was expecting, if they were for rodents, I'd call them pellets!!"Smaller ones are called 'pencils' :-)
They're the ones that are made for younger cattle
This size are normally called nuts or just cake.
There are bigger ones that are known as cobs
Afternoon, I've got a headache and 2 hours of meetings to sit through this pm!! I think my camera might be broken ;-) Sunny and less windy today Ah right Lynne

Zoom cameras are very unreliable, the software flaky and broadband connection issues can be a nightmare :-)
Hair cut for me tomorrow. I’m really looking forward to that. I think I’m livening up a bit but I did have a dopey moment this morning. I cooked a bolognese sauce with minced beef. I opened a can of what I thought was tinned tomatoes and it looked a bit different. It was - it was tomato soup. It looks ok, I shall see if it’s noticed tomorrow. I won’t say a word.

Afternoon, still got a slight headache after my meetings yesterday and had another one this morning - my colleague messaged me after as she was concerned I hadn't had my camera on for 3 meetings and it's not like me. A lot cooler and windy today, had the rest of the pet food delivery and the amazon one is due this pm, don't know if I mentioned I've ordered a new tablet in the sale (well, it ended up being a refurbished one as they didn't have the colour/memory in brand new, but last refurbished was fine). Going to finally get Netflix today, just as we get more freedom!!

She was offered places over seventy miles away

Yes indeed, good workmates are a boon.Thick white frost here this morning. Very pretty with the blue skies but some of the blossom may have got a fright!
We seem to have a joiner downstairs AGAIN. We'd really hoped that they'd done everything they could possibly do in that flat by now. But apparently not.
Morning, was supposed to be going for a walk with my friend today, but she's managed to double book herself. I'm going to try the reservoir she didn't want to do as it wasn't long enough, then I'll get a hot choc and cake on my way home. Sun is shining, but it isn't very warm. Neighbour ended up getting a new car rather than having hers fixed, so hoping she wants to go for a drive, as I haven't been in it yet. I was pleased at her concern, I expected someone who was in two of the three meetings to be sarcastic about me not having a camera on!! Can't believe they have workmen again R, and especially on a bank hol!
Yes it's supposed to be a holiday but generally I think Scotland doesn't really 'do' Easter the way they do further south. And officially it's still supposed to be emergency work only indoors at the moment (not that that has bothered them up till now!)

Thick frost on the car here this morning as well!
As you say, very pretty :-)
Is now the time for you to succumb to the urge to learn to play the bugle?
How do? I just cut my own hair. I can't see it so it's somebody else's problem if I mess it up!I put my broad bean seeds in a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to our blackbird, I've had to re-plant several. I keep walking down the garden and finding them on top of the bean bed. Heaven knows where the rows are when they're covered up so I expect chaos when they grow.
Hope everyone has a joyful (and a bit warmer) Easter.

I've been tempted to let my lady wife have a go with the clippers :-)
Since last March I've been cutting my own hair (and my husband's) with his beard clippers (No 4 up the sides and back :D ) and a pair of 'hit and miss' scissors. The only tricky bit is the back because working in a mirror I always go in the wrong direction!Kath I've given up trying to grow sempervivums (semperviva??) as the blackbird was always pecking them loose and then they'd blow away.

I've been cutting husband's hair since before we were married, over 45 years now, and I did it yesterday - and he no longer looks like the Wild Man of Borneo, but is back to his handsome self, if I do say so myself.
Other people have had to suffer through the bleak hair months, but not us. Survival skills?
It’s amazing what a haircut does, I’m back to being short and spiky again. In hair and disposition 😀Weather was glorious here. I made lovely hot cross buns for a change. I have been known to take them out of the oven and they’ve gone straight out for the birds. Not today though I did them right but OH came home with a pack from Tesco. Typical.
My husband cut mine a little while ago. He started on my left and continued snipping around until he got to the other side. That side is now about one and a half inches shorter than where he started. I never said a word... the hairdresser will soon be open, thank goodness.
Anna wrote: "My husband cut mine a little while ago. He started on my left and continued snipping around until he got to the other side. That side is now about one and a half inches shorter than where he starte..."Oh, dear.
Your mention of survival skills Alicia gave me a wonderful mental picture of us all being chased by a group of zombies down a street, with us saying "Well at least our hair is fabulous, darlings" :DSeriously frosty here again. I hope my six precious magnolia buds are ok (it's only a baby!)
Morning all, glad I don't get lie ins on my day off, was just chilling in bed watching TV at 9am when I started hearing banging - checked it wasn't silly neighbour chopping wood, but it wasn't. Went to make a drink and discovered there are some ladders against next door, looks like they are finally dealing with her gutter. If she says anything, I'm going to make out that she woke me up when I wanted a lie in, as she could have had the decency to warn me. Walk yesterday was lovely, it wasn't a long walk, but there were some benches and after I finished, the sun came out, so I went back round a bit and sat in the sun reading - only lasted 10 mins till it disappeared, but was really nice. Coffee shop remembered me asking to put a blondie to one side for me, why I like local shops. Think I'm going to a different reservoir today, as long as there is space, and then drop some stuff off at my sister's, my neighbour has bought some chocolate for the kids. Oh dear Anna!! Typical that when you make lovely hot cross buns, husband buys some Lynne!
Beautiful day here. Poor dog had a good luck bomb explode on him from a huge flock of pigeons. Vile creatures. They’ve pulled down the old ice house on the docks to make way for a new hotel and left hundreds of the creatures homeless. When I went to the hairdressers I thought about putting my brolly up just in case. I love my garden birds but pigeons in quantity give me the willies.
Morning all, happy Easter, hope you all have a nice day. No real plans, last day of double figure temps for a while.
Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) wrote: "Your mention of survival skills Alicia gave me a wonderful mental picture of us all being chased by a group of zombies down a street, with us saying "Well at least our hair is fabulous, darlings" :..."And it is fabulous. The zombies are among us. They want a different world, not realizing that they won't be survivors in that world.
Morning all, woken up to some sort of icy precipitation collected in the gutters. Not a cloud in the sky now though - but temp is below freezing and windchill has it at -10!The outdoor constitutional may be a short one.
Morning all, been up for hours, but Lucy made me stay in bed!! We did have snow when I got up to feed the cats at 7ish, but now we have clear blue skies, but the phone says 4, but feels like -1. My only plans were to do housework, but neighbour might suggest something that sounds better. Was supposed to be walking today, but friend woke up without a hangover yesterday so we went yesterday instead, was fairly quiet actually, although all the car parks looked full.
Quite nippy here, fresh cold wind and April showers. Only rain so far thank goodness but I have no intention of going out.I’ve just ‘discovered’ my ear phones from my phone work on my iPad so I’m watching stuff I never get chance to watch on iPlayer while he’s watching old repeats of repeats of Top Gear and some old codgers recycling stuff from sheds. When you’ve seen them make a ‘lovely’ lamp out a rusty mangle once you don’t need to see it ad infinitum. Same with lobster fishing. I’ve been told I have a low boredom threshold. 🙄
