Hi Patti, with our change in circumstances with daughter being so ill I don’t think the limit on how long we can stay ( I think but haven’t really looked it’s 3 months at a time but I don’t know if that’s restricted for when you can return ) I don’t think it will affect us as 3 months is ok. The other restrictions like car insurance green cards etc is less than 3 months now we’ve re registered and insured the car in the U.K. that’s more restrictive than staying in the house.
We did discuss selling up last year then covid made that impossible. I think it’s wait and see time. Dog travel regulations might be a big consideration - as usual 😁
I did wonder how you’d like Spain.
Dentists in Wales aren’t back to anything like normal. Apparently it’s to do with the air thingy and drilling makes particles in the air in interventions, emergencies only and then you have to go to an NHS centre wherever that is.
Our dentist did mail to say they hoped to resume in January but I think that’s gone down the pan at the moment as well.

Both newsagent/post offices and postmen get pretty hacked off by parcel force. They often dump stuff for them to deal with
Our parcelforce regular is a joke. He is lazy and scruffy. I know the local posties really dislike him, I saw him one day nearly fall out of his van as he was too lazy to shut the door while driving and OH saw him rearranging (kicking) his load into place. But last week I had a parcelforce man who was great. Heavily tattooed, bandaged knees and wider than average. He limped up to the door and I asked him if he’d been playing rugby, he told me he was an ex policeman from Bulgaria and martial arts teacher. I wouldn’t argue with him.
Woke up at 5am this morning. Last day of eye drops, eyelid is still swollen, I haven’t had my follow up through, might ring them tomorrow to remind them. Had to go to the post office to post stuff off to Jersey, but decided to get a box to post them in and it looked flimsy, so brought it home to put tape on and have to go back after work, called in at the charity shop on the way home, just to help them out, but nothing I fancied. Did manage to get an Agatha Christie for 20p from the book shop though. Sorry you aren’t enjoying Madrid Patti! Dentists here aren’t back to normal either, I have a telephone triage next week for the referral in March! Hope it is a video one or that won’t be much use really. Don’t blame you for being annoyed with parcelforce R. I rarely get anything from them, did get one recently that they left in the recycling bin, assume they hadn't tried any of the neighbours
Morning all. I've been suddenly called in for a flu jab on Saturday, McOther too. Mine is between 9.30 and 10.00. I hope the weather is better than today. It's been snowing. Looks like it's melting now. I hope it either snows properly and covers everything or melts. Usually it just goes slushy and freezes. They grit the roads but the pavements end up like glass. We all have to queue outside so I'll take my crutches and hope they take pity on me. Also hope I don't react as most people say they feel shit afterwards! Yikes. Can't say as I've ever had a flu jab so it'll be interesting.Had a great night's sleep last night - only woke three times! Woot! But it has left me feeling strangely knackered. Never mind. Busy day ahead, lots of zoom calls arranged for today. Not sure how it happened. Also a wet cat appearing every five minutes for a warm up. I now have muddy footprints all over my desk.
Morning all! Thundersnow over Edinburgh early this morning - we heard the Trump of Doom from 25 miles away. Daughter says it was ungodly underneath it, all the car alarms went off and people were phoning up the emergency services reporting explosions.My other half gets the flu jab every year due to his asthma and has never had an adverse reaction Mary. Just complains in a manly way about a sore arm for the next couple of days haha.
Well, I slept till 5.50 this morning, but quite headachy today. Might be weather related mind, I opened the curtain and was disappointed to see no snow, but I had to come in the office today and driving in, the hills had snow on them. It has been trying to snow, but was raining first, so it isn't sticking. Got to do food shopping and an errand for my neighbour on the way homeMy neighbour always has some kind of weird brain fog after a flu jab MT, I remember my first one, I sat down with the cat when I got home, and fell asleep, never done that since. I normally just have a sore arm, although I think this year I had a bit of a sore throat after it. Glad you slept, ironically sometimes you do feel worse for getting some sleep. Blimey R!

Looks like it's melting..."I've been getting the extra-strength senior flu vaccine for several years now, and this year I rode my trike over to the drive through clinic for seniors, and I had a mild reaction - slightly sore arm. Other years have been worse. But it's something I feel uncomfortable without, every year, until I can get it - and this year it was very hard to get, and never even offered at our facility (the senior one).
Apparently, it's not up to us - Yolo County or the state of California decide who gets what when, and they didn't order enough this year. So our staff got vaccinated, and the many older adults who live here didn't, unless they go it from their doctors.
Anyway, hope you don't overreact, and get the maximum protection, whatever it is this year. I do credit having had the shot with the flu case I got a couple of years ago being much milder, so there's that.

I remember resenting getting the flu jab when I was younger, and I rebelled one year and didn't have it, I was ill for about 5 months, so I've never missed it since. We have had order issues over here too Alicia, mine was booked in before my neighbours doc even had the jabs in to offer apps. Did I read that California has restrictions coming in?
We're back up to maximum restrictions here, unfortunately. I thought we were doing better than average, but the Los Angeles basin is not, and the really tight requirement is that we don't overload the hospitals - because it's no longer possible to send patients to other places when those are full, too.We're staying locked down, and grateful for it - the vaccine is happening soon, and I hope to be here to get it.
My husband got his flu shot when he biked over to pick up a prescription at a local pharmacy - and he called me to ask if I wanted him to wait and we'd go back together. I told him to go inside the store and get his that moment! So he's had it a month longer than I did - and they ran out of the senior one quickly, too.
I want that shot every year. The more people who don't, the better for me. And I still waited nervously until it was available - and it wasn't a convenient time, and I got on that trike and moved.
Cool, thanks for the reassurance everyone. Yeh, I tend to get flu really badly once every eight years or so. Bad year was last year while I was trying to get Dad out of hospital and into a home. Took several lots of antibiotics and some steroids to clear that up.It’s been horrible here today, but have had a nice chatty day - really good zoom call with the other authors, loads of excellent ideas for marketing books.
Right now it’s back to the editing. I’m getting there, slowly.

Well, despite the snow not sticking here, we had to close one of our sites about 10 miles away because of the snow! Blue skies now and no rain or snow forecast, so me and a friend are going for a walk again.
Dry here now too. I can't see Fife at the moment so I don't know if the snow has gone or not, looked like quite a lot yesterday.Got another facebook friend request from a Texan widower this morning. A doctor this time, which makes a change from the usual Marine. Or I had an offer from a four star general once. Lucky me.
I hope the rain we had yesterday didn’t fall as snow anywhere else - it was really heavy all night and looks like it was just rehearsing for today’s performance. I don’t think the ground can take any more. i’m hoping it doesn’t freeze or it will be very nasty driving. The local weather station’s rain water recorder gubbins isn’t working so I don’t know how much fell but it seemed a good few Inches. OH had a sore throat and aching legs after his flu jab.

Morning, had a really nice walk yesterday, there was still snow on some of the hills! Was also naughty and bought a Christmas box of wax melts, as they had to close the shop, I had to collect from their house, but they have got new premises from Feb, which is good. Supposed to be having takeaway today, although I'm starving now so not sure what to eat before my neighbour gets up. Raining today, Sunday chores and then a bathReally hope they get your paperwork sorted soon Patti.
Dry here today thank goodness. I’m jealous of those lovely door hangings for Christmas. My twin nieces have got fabulous big bows on theirs. If they aren’t colour fast I’d have a real mess on my door. I only put a post it note on for a delivery driver and it ran bright pink trickles down the door, the only time I got a nice one up the wind blew so hard it chafed and scratched the paint off. I’m not Scrooge - just weather challenged.
Got my first Christmas card and present today!! Takeaway was a bit random yesterday, spoke to neighbour at 11 who said that she wanted takeway but not a breakfast but she would ask if they would do one later for me. Got a text at 11.50 saying they would, but she was going back to bed for an hour. Gave up at 1.15 and just ordered my own, if I’d known that, I could have had it at 11 when I wanted it, she got up at 3.30, so got hers at 4! I ended up getting a salted caramel hot choc when I collected mine, then when she ordered, she asked about cake, so then I ended up with a white choc and bailey’s cheesecake, so yummy I ate it all! The breakfast has shrunk but yet they are charging the same, so was a bit disappointed, plus they have taken some items off the menu. Now got to go food shopping for my sister after work, nephew has a cold and the school is refusing to let him in till he has a negative test, but of course she can’t get a test with his symptoms, so also can’t do the food shopping she was supposed to today! At least my parcel to Jersey arrived today, better than the card I sent in Oct!
Hope the little lad is feeling better soon. I don't know how people with small children can follow all the regulations. I could barely manage without them when ours were little.
Well, sis and children seem fine, my niece has a runny nose, but nothing obvious with nephew. We got a bonus at work yesterday, as we can’t have a Christmas party, we have been given a £25 evoucher, need to look where I can spend it. My boss has now told me I need to help our admin dept for 1-2 hours a day every day till we break up next week, haven’t been able to speak to him to tell him that it means I can’t physically do all my own work as well. Need to drop the car off for its MOT tonight. Read your blog post Alicia, sorry about your blood sugar issues, do hope the doc can suggest something after you send them the graph. Don’t apologise for a self centred post on your own blog!
OH is busy painting and repairing a sledge which on it’s last outing caused 2 black eyes and cracked ribs. Daughter got the eyes and as it went over a bump landed on her dad and he got the cracked ribs. I offered to put in a first aid kit when he ordered yet more paint from Halfords. I think the new paint cost more than a new sledge. I won’t mention that snow is very rare here except in 1982 when it cut pembrokeshire off entirely. The house we live in had it up to the top of the doors in the drifts.

They were completely cut off but everyone in the village mucked in and helped one another and it sounds as if they had a really good time.
Beautiful day this morning. White hoar frost on everything and bright blue sky. It's overcast and getting dark now though (boo).
Suffered my zoom calls. Knee doesn't like being still for too long. Have had a decent day with it today though. Lots of little bits and bobs of chores to keep me moving round but not too much to wear it out. Slightly over did it yesterday so I have to go easy again. It's a pain trying to get it right.

We were in the Peak District that winter. It was record freezing temperatures there and you expect snow. When we house hunted in Pembrokeshire there were a few still damaged by the snow, I went in one empty house and stepped in and the water was over my ankles, another had a parquet floor that had been flooded and expanded and forced into peaks in the middle. Manorbier Mary. It’s a pretty place. Patti it kept him out of trouble but didn’t keep him quiet. Sanding drilling and swearing could be clearly heard.

Phew, seem to have caught up a bit this morning, so will see what I am needed to help with tomorrow. Waiting to hear if the car has passed it’s MOT, I’ve just had my telephone triage (he rang early!), it was for my tooth, unfortunately the only x-ray he had was when I still had a tooth, so it was a 5 min call to say he will arrange a face to face consultation and an x-ray, but it will be 4-8 weeks! I’m really disappointed I’ve waited since March for this, and now potentially another 2 months just for him to look at it, at this rate it might be a year between needing it removed and getting it removed! Afraid I’m a bit on the fence with the vaccine – it’s great that this 90 year old has gone on TV saying how great she feels after having it and saying we should all have it, but that’s minutes after having the initial vaccine, she might not feel like that in the next 48 hours, or even after the second vaccine. Well, just heard on the news about an allergy warning regarding it now, as they’ve had a few people react to it! Random thing for your husband to do Lynne!! Glad things seem to be getting easier with the knee MT.
I don't care how anyone else feels (well, I do, but only if major things go wrong, and I wouldn't be offered a vaccine for a while), I'm getting it the second I qualify.The people with allergies will be protected somewhat by herd immunity - when we finally achieve it - and will have a legitimate reason to be very cautious. I don't have allergies, and it can't happen soon enough.
Then I don't know when my kids will get vaccinated, and they've been so good about being locked down. It should get offered to those who complied with the precautions sooner than those who didn't, in general, in my opinion, unless there are other reasons for vaccinating them first (they are caring for the elderly or newborns or...). I don't think bad behavior should be rewarded or ignored - way too many people have died who shouldn't have.
In this country the problem with offering the vaccine first to those who behaved is that unless the person appeared in front of the courts, or got a formal police caution, we have no way of knowing. Otherwise we'll get caught up in all sorts of nasty petty feuds. The police have been sickened by a lot of the gossip they've been dragged into
What a morning, I had a bad night sleep worrying about how I was going to get everything done today, then walked in to 100 e-mails!! Despite the fact I’m supposed to be giving admin 1-2 hours a day, so far I’ve done 2.5 hours, and they want me doing some more stuff this pm. Will let it go today as I didn’t do anything yesterday, but might have to say something tomorrow.

Well it looks like husband and I will be giving each other a new electric shower for Christmas. The old one has given up the ghost but I don't think after 25 years I can really claim on the guarantee. Doubt the new one will last as long, everything seems to come with built-in obsolescence nowadays.Still got workmen hammering away downstairs. Goodness knows what on earth there can be left for them to do
I’ve got neighbours like that Rosemary. Fortunately they are next door but one but there’s not been a week they haven’t had workmen in - they’ve bee there about a year and the house looked really good before they moved in. My Xmas present is a new battery for my Dyson. I got a replacement bulb for my sewing machine yesterday it blew the fuse in the plug. That really does qualify for built in obsolescence. It wasn't expensive but even so it lasted all of a nanosecond. Desley you sound stressed with work.
There’s whole classes isolating at our grandsons school so they are closing early and working on line till Christmas. They are open tomorrow and Monday but Fridays are only half day so he’s home now till whenever they reopen after Christmas. There’s rumours of another round of tighter restrictions in Wales as the cases are escalating and hospitals are under pressure in some regions.
Actually I was feeling quite chuffed, I'd lost the tool that you need to change the cutting or grinding disks on an angle grinder. Anyway I got given one by somebody who'd had the same angle grinder but theirs had been replaced a decade agoMine could be twenty years old and it's done a fair bit of work :-)
Just booked my flu Jab, my sister said she’s going for hers in case they won’t do covid if you haven’t had a flu jab so that’s tipped me off the fence. The rumour that Wales is going to ban all alcohol sales before Christmas and Tesco announcing possible food shortages after January should make for a horrendous weekend in the supermarkets.

Forgot to say, car passed it’s MOT, when I looked at the mileage, it has done 1517 miles in the last 12 months! The tire passed, but I got them to look at it, but they must have already produced the invoice, as I didn’t get charged for it, and to be honest, he could have told me I needed a whole new tire, but it’s why I like my garage. Feel better about admin, done an hour-ish for them this morning, and she just said whatever I can spare next week, so agreed to help Mon am and Thu, she didn’t push for help Tue and Wed. Downside is that all the leaning over filing and filling folders kills my back. Food shopping after work. Yes, our last week or two are always stressful unfortunately Lynne, never mind having to help another department out! To be fair, I normally do a bit the last week, it was just being told 1-2 hours a day every day that tipped me over. Better stock up on alcohol if you might get bans, no idea what banning supermarkets selling it will do!

I’ve got a headache just thinking about it Jim :-)I’ve got lots of nothing much to do now if make mince pies etc he’ll eat them before Xmas and I don’t want to freeze them as I shan’t have space. It’s going to be busy next week though.
Same with fresh food shopping. It’s just too early. Welsh schools are breaking up early and going on line learning till next Friday.
I think the FM of Wales is backtracking on banning the sale of all alcohol. The public reactions to his personal ideas - he’s TT - have been vitriolic
Morning, had two meetings yesterday afternoon, our IT bloke had been improving connectivity in the meeting room yesterday morning, however the result was I couldn't get on, luckily one of my colleagues also had her laptop and as she was at the opposite side of the room, hers worked! Went to a different Aldi in the hope of getting their white choc liqueur but no joy, at least it was quiet, and I got some shopping for my sis. Supposed to be going for a walk today, but currently raining, now not supposed to stop till 4. Café is open today for the first time since lockdown, so will be going getting a hot choc and maybe some cake, Glad they are going to backtrack on selling alcohol Lynne, only someone who is teetotal would think that is a good idea!
I really cocked up yesterday. I bought family cards, I got the only daughter and fiancé card in the shop, I really nagged OH not to mix them up and write cards in a rush like he usually does. Then I wrote my sisters name in daughter’s card. DOH! Back to the shops! Had to have daughter and partner as there was no fiancés left. I also got a blank envelope no address when I put the stamps on but I knew it was for my sister this time. I really didn’t do well,I made a nice lunch of filo parcels with minced lamb, spices and goat cheese. Forgot to put the cheese in. I had to stab them and push pieces in under the pastry. All that totally alcohol free too, I can’t blame the booze.
Threw it down all day here, am stuck in the usual round of 20 minutes of physio 3 times a day, 5 20 minutes of ice pack on the knee, and pathetic walks. I am well down today. I spent 3 hours downloading and sorting some of my royalty payments and now I'm a physio session down, 3 icings and two pathetic walks. Tomorrow is another day. Beginning to wonder if I'll ever have time to write a blog post ever again. Going to try the Sussex run this Wednesday so it's not going to get any better. I think it would be a bit easier if I had more than half a day to get the walks in before it got dark but it's been raining constantly here barring a couple of days this week, and it's been dark by half past two.
Grrr.
