Good to hear you're keeping busy. I'm finally getting to a few things on the deep list! Which means the more necessary ones have been getting done.

Glad to hear your neighbor just had a small lapse there. Must be reassuring.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Morning all, had two social work chats, nice start to the day. Pretty much usual stuff today except I need to go and buy milk and might be back from my walk for the 3.30 virtual happy hour chat. Hoping i can sit outside today. Neighbours birthday today, we were supposed to be going out for a meal, might see if i can find a takeaway.

Glad you are getting to the deep list Alicia.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Somebody round here is in the dog house and it’s not the dog!
I saw on a Dobermann forum a couple had to cancel their 25th wedding anniversary trip to Venice. So they did ‘ Venice’ in their garden. they dressed up properly DJ & bow tie for him and lovely dress for her. They had a boat and a gondolier, a lovely mural of Venice along the garden fence and even dressed the dobes up as gondoliers.
I mentioned this to OH showed him the pictures, and said what will we do for our anniversary if there’s still restrictions in July.
He’s not worried because he ‘thinks’ it’s next year. I am so lucky. I didn’t marry just plain old Mr. Right. I got the posh double barrelled version. Mr. Always-Right!

Jim | 21810 comments After a mere 25 years a husband is barely broken in and house-trained. You're probably better aiming for fifty years.

Had to fix a fence alongside the main road. Quite a number of people (sensibly spaced) walking down towards the sea.
Yes it was warm but the number of ladies in their forties wearing bikinis or bikini tops and short shorts as they walk down the side of a main road came as something of a surprise.

I'm not sure how many of them were restricting themselves to 1 hour but frankly I think people just need to be out, and none of them were endangering anybody

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments It will be 50 years Jim but he managed to also mess up the 40th. We had friends staying with us and I really didn’t want them to take us out as treat. So I kept quiet saying to OH keep our anniversary low key as I didn’t want them to feel obliged to treat us etc. He said he knew it was our 40 th anniversary but I’d got the date wrong. It’s on the 4th of July. I said yes. It’s the 4th today and it was told it wasn’t. He paid dearly for that too.

Lady wife and I take turns to forget our anniversary, indeed some years we both forget, and I'm the one who has forgotten it least :-)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I must say I honestly don’t want an anniversary gift. I joked a couple of years ago when I had my car as it was gold coloured it was an early anniversary present. I don’t need or want anything. It would be lovely to have a family ‘do’ but I can’t see that happening easily as we are a bit too distant from half of them unless we travel there and have a celebration. I just hope we all stay safe and well, that’s enough to ask for. I’m not a bit sentimental though and we are the same with birthdays and Christmas.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments You need to be careful when you marry: 1975 was the perfect year because the math after that is so obvious.

Hitting 45 this year, but because of the virus, there won't be a special blessing in church. Which is fine - he's a good man to be quarantined with, and that counts for more than anything else these days.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Morning all, weekend! Which means I should be doing some housework, but looking at the weather forecast this is the last nice day, so I'll do the bare minimum, not sure where to go for a walk, but will start a new book.

At least you take it in turns to forget Jim!

message 13510: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I know I chip at my husband. It’s my way, but I can’t say just how lost I’d have been without him. He is a good man and I count my blessings, too. He’s priceless.
He’s admitted he got the year wrong. I don’t know what he went and checked on but he did check - wouldn’t take my word for it, then laughed and said yesterday (Friday) that he also thought it was Saturday:o)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments It is very easy at the moment to forget what day of the week it is, one of the neighbours was saying the other day she wondered why I was putting the bins out last Thu as she thought it was Wed, then one of them put some bins out on Fri night and wondered why they didn't get emptied (didn't help it was the wrong bin, never mind the wrong day!)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Yes it’s funny what reminds us. I’m not desperately interested in football but Saturday without the results and matches seems really odd.

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Just catching up - glad it sounds as if everyone's ok. Had a birthday midweek... yet another one.... really odd not going out for a meal (I cooked. Safer that way!) and had some Facetime with grandchildren, and lots of lovely cards turned up, but it was all a bit downbeat. Hey ho. Actually did some Housework this morning! So this afternoon I could relax and sew. Also finished husband's family history research. No surprises, but I did find the missing father of an illegit child... he was on the same census return, living next door... !! can't think why I hadn't spotted him before (no father on the birth cert but mum had cunningly put his surname down as the daughter's middle name).
As you say, it really doesn't seem like a proper weekend now, with no football/results going on in the background.

message 13515: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Really foggy here again this morning but when it clears it looks like being a lovely day again. Can’t believe we are eating outside in April.
That’s interesting Karen, my Dad was adopted and his middle name was his surname - we only knew this after he’d died, everyone had assumed Gilbert was a second Christian name. No one knew he was adopted until papers came to light after his death as well.
Have a good day all.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Morning all, had a rare luxury yesterday of reading a full book in one day. Really should do some housework today, but looking nice again, so might just do the bare minimum again, will be nice to get some washing pegged out.

Happy belated birthday Karen.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments I should be doing some work on my mailing list hello sequence but the sun's out ... I've made a pact with myself that I'll work until my kindle's charged and then go outside to read!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Sounds a good deal to me!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments I am worrying that I'm enjoying myself too much. I seem to be enjoying the quieter pace and I'm also really surprised at how easy I'm finding it to ignore my housework and just read, walk, play games and watch TV. My eating and drinking habits are also nothing like normal, and find myself thirstier drinking more tea! Decided this afternoon that the hoovering would still be there tomorrow but the sun might not, so read for an hour, nearly half a book! Good job I have thousands! Have also been neglecting scanning my books the past few days.

Sounds perfect. Priorities change when you wonder if you will survive, and know the world is going to be different.

Maybe you will keep some of them, take good care of yourself, continue the good things.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments That is a very good point Alicia, I do hope to keep some of my new things, i like my new reading place, and Lucy even joined me yesterday, I'm also hoping to be better at keeping in touch with people. I suppose when the world is so crazy we need to find any happiness to keep us sane!

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Yeh, I've found that slowing down has done me the world of good. It's like my brain is working better. I love a good social, but left to my own devices I would happily stay in and write. 🙂

Got the fourth audio book back today too.

Woot.

Cheers

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments It's not doing me much good, I've slowed down so much I've nearly stopped. I need deadlines and structure to function, it turns out. I'm normally very good with 'downtime' but now I have entirely too much of it!

Another bloody lovely day too

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Morning all, lot cooler today. Pottering this morning, then delivering for the foodbank this afternoon and taking advantage of it being round the corner from a sainsbury's to call in. Downside is i expect a queue.

I'm normally like that R, even on my Christmas break i set things to do, but for some reason I've settled into this. Glad it is helping your writing MT

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments But on the plus side I've been able to delete two spam threads today :D

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments She's on Facebook quite often Desley

message 13529: by Pam (new)

Pam Baddeley | 3334 comments After not baking for donkey's years, I've surprised myself by making cakes two weeks running! The first was a recipie that used ground nuts etc as I couldn't get flour - the people I have been getting some groceries for as they are self-isolating due to health issues got a delivery with lots of eggs and gave me some. Then today I baked another cake using the remaining eggs and some flour they had managed to get for me in another delivery. Had to do a bit of substitution and it is a little bit crumbly in places but tastes really nice.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Morning all, was absolutely exhausted yesterday after helping at the foodbank. They put us in pairs to do deliveries, although we obviously had to go in separate cars, my partner took charge so I was just following him, which I find harder than the sat nav! They had an excess of cheese and bacon, so were making volunteers take a bag home, I said I'm vegetarian but sure my neighbours would appreciate it, so I got bacon and some vegan food, so when I got home I had to deliver 4 packs of bacon plus some of the cheese round my neighbours! I did feel a tad guilty walking round Sainsbury's putting things in my trolley that I don't really need, it's just to break up the Lidl food. Still feel drained today, I didn't want to drink too much yesterday in case we didn't get near a toilet very often and it was warmer than I expected! Should do some housework today, and need to go to the post office to put cash in for both me and my neighbour

Glad you have got into baking again Pam, I have contemplated it.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all! The spammers have awoken from their winter slumber
*loads rifle*

Another ghastly sunny day. It's all too much :D

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments It’s raining in Wales. Soft gentle soaking the garden type rain. Hope it washes the streets clean.
I’m starting and finishing old projects at last but running out of ‘stuff’ to finish them. So there’s piles of all sorts all over the house. I’ll get told off if I don’t tidy up soon. I’m getting on my own nerves today.

message 13533: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Raining here too. Got the fourth audiobook back and uploaded it everywhere yesterday. Fingers crossed they all go though. So that's done and dusted. Now we just have to sit and wait for the cash to roll in, except I'm off out after it. Which reminds me, I need to set up an ad or two.

I think I may have to do the M & S run for McOther today, also need to finish sorting the next book in word format to send to the editor ... and see if she's up for it.

Cheers

MTM

Thank you for doing the hard work of volunteering.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Morning all, feel much more human today, can't believe how tired I was after that! Supposed to be doing housework today, but I'm finding it surprisingly easy to ignore! Started raining about 3 yesterday and not sure it stopped, luckily I went to the post office before it rained.

message 13538: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21810 comments given the amount of stress people are under at the moment, especially those with any sort of underlying health conditions, I can quite see people getting tired.
I think the only sensible response is to rest more and not worry about stuff that doesn't need worrying about

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments That is very true Jim, and I think following someone driving is more tiring than using the sat nav. I seem to be getting good at resting and ignoring stuff, think its because i don't have limited time to do it.

message 13540: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Agreed Jim and Desley. I am finding that I can let a lot more stuff go. And there are things I've signed up to that I'm may give up when this all finishes. There's nothing like a bit of enforced isolation to concentrate your mind on the important stuff. I've done more work on my books and I have stopped feeling as if there is a giant wooden spoon stirring my brain. For the first time, I am actually managing to collect thoughts, retain information ... it's great.

Cheers

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Probably! I'm hoping to continue with my quiet life, I've found my friends who are used to being out a lot are the ones struggling.

Katy | 2662 comments Hi, everyone! I'm not sure if you'll remember me. It's been a while.... I suppose I should have started in new member introductions? It's lovely to see some names I recognise. Hope you're all safe and well? :)

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Hi Katy, how are you doing? Nice to see you back. It's pretty quiet in here now apart from a few stalwarts :D

We've still had no rain despite it being forecast. Everything is really dry. And that cold wind is back!

message 13547: by Katy (new)

Katy | 2662 comments Hi, Rosemary! I'm good, thank you. How are you?

I'm sad to say I haven't picked up my kindle in the longest time until last night and I saw some books from authors here so thought I'd pop in! :)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Morning all, as i had little motivation yesterday, I've decided to just tackle a room a day, in between watching TV and rewarding myself with reading. Currently sunny but supposed to rain, so might watch a film. Got a parcel to deliver to a friend, will wait til it is dry!

Nice to see you again Katy, what have you been doing?

message 13549: by M.T. (new)

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I've just shaved off half my hair :D

In my defence I didn't think husband's clippers would make it THAT short. I mean, I set it at 20, not at no 1.

Just need to decide whether to do the whole lot now or leave as a (one sided) mohican. Bearing in mind this would mean E having to do the back - and he's nearly blind...!

Think this isolation might be getting to me? I did need a project, to be fair.
