Posted this morning, but it disappeared, and couldn’t be bothered to type it again!! Lucy’s tests came back clear, so managed to sleep well last night. Woke up and it was foggy and drizzly. Boring day at work, even nearly finished tidying my desk we are that quiet (although not hard, I part tidied it in Sept to avoid too much computer work), then a friend coming round to swap Christmas presents after work. Ironically the heating is properly working now, and the building is so much hotter than it has been for years that we are complaining, and having to use fans/open windows!! I only like Wensleydale and White Stilton when they have fruit in, think this years Christmas cheese is a white stilton with apricots and amaretto. Hope your niece has a good Christmas with everything she’s been through Lynne. Glad you enjoyed your break Flo, you really deserve it. Am sure whoever is messing your delivery around will regret it Patti!!
I'm so sorry to hear about your sudden loss R, such a bad time of year.
So sorry to hear of your loss, Rosemary. Desperately sad especially at this time of year.Desley, you're making me dribble. I love the fruity Christmas cheeses and the last two years I've had to cut our all dairy. Sigh.

Some days it never lightens up at all, you can hardly see in doors and have to have a light on, especially to read.
Just talking to Anita and Geoff, and they send their regards, and condolences to Rosemary. Anita got a letter from Sarah, and she is doing well and feeling good.

Thanks for the update
Rosemary, please accept my condolences for you and for your whole family. That is one of the saddest things to do, to tell your kids when you yourself are grieving so. I've had to do it this year for mine, and it breaks my heart.
Sorry to hear about your BiL Rosemary.Hermes delivered a package yesterday, and it was soggy. Not just wet, you could squeeze water out of the cardboard!

My Sister's funeral is set for 5th Jan now - so you have my full sympathy. There's something about this time of year, that makes news like this seem twice as heartbreaking.
Morning all, woken up at 5.30 by the fosters. raining here but could be worse. Last day in work for the year, will be odd to work till 5.30. Am covering our reception this afternoon. Shall be drinking this eveningYes, it certainly does Flo.
Good morning all. This morning I'm the Dad taxi and this evening is the chess club social. What a glamorous life I lead.
Good morning and happy solstice!Have been refunded the next day delivery charge and have been assured the parcel will arrive today. Not holding my breath.
The other item I ordered on Sunday arrived yesterday, standard free delivery. Bloody hell.
Lovely to hear Sarah is doing well. Thanks for that, GL.
If the parcel arrives in a timely fashion, we're going to brave the shops today. Got an M&S refund thingy from last year that needs using. Don't need/want anything from M&S though.
Think we'll see if we can buy a gift card with it.
They do sushi! Morning, all. Off out for lunch today at a great local hostelry which uses produce from farms in the area. Going with the flower arranging gang.
Apparently, can't buy a gift card with it. So will have to buy something and return it to get another voucher.I really hope Dave's sister doesn't buy us clothes again. You'd think she'd have twigged by now that we never wear any of the stuff she buys us.
Family don't take hints about presents. I had to explicitly forbid my parents from buying me clothes. And then tell them exactly what they should buy instead.
Gingerlily - The other Stroopwafel Sister! wrote: "Family don't take hints about presents. I had to explicitly forbid my parents from buying me clothes. Luckily I never had to put the threat into practice, the lesson seemed to sink home!

*Shocked face emoji* ;)
I am picturing Benjamin in the lingerie department trying to find the most embarrassing underwear possible for his mother. That would raise a few eyebrows!

Benjamin wrote: "Gingerlily - The other Stroopwafel Sister! wrote: "I am picturing Benjamin in the lingerie department trying to find the most embarrassing underwear possible for his mother. That would raise a few ..."Ooops, sorry! Yes, I could see Jim doing that...
Thanks for the chuckle GL!! I have to say, it might be boring, but I do like the practice of being asked what you would like for Christmas. I do remember one year asking for something off my sis, and asking my brother for something else, ended up with the same thing twice. At least the charity always gets some things in the new year.
We get them a good bottle of champagne every year. Perhaps I should get them underwear this year. From the pound shop.
Just got a propaganda flyer through our door from UKIP.
Unfortunately, there's no return address on it.
I'll have to be satisfied with spitting on it.

We're here for a chat anytime.

Too late, I've stuffed it in the bin.
We nt to M&S and converted the refund coupons into a bottle of cheap champagne, two beef roasts and a lamb shoulder. The meat will go to Baku. The champagne to the inlaws.
Amazon has sorted a re-order of the parcel. Supposed to arrive tomorrow by 8pm.
I may be rather sceptical.

Probably the cleaner solution!
Too much smoked salmon causes a rather stiff breeze, it seems.Poor Dave has opened the window.
Think I'll do sprouts for dinner tomorrow.
Dave just told me to 'turn over to the other side'. Major confusion until I realised he meant the TV.
Was there country wide excitement when the third channel was introduced?
Did everyone go all triangular?
You're right, I've not seen the Playboy channel A mate of mine was divorced and had a nervous breakdown.
At the height of his troubles there was a storm and his satellite dish was blown out of alignment. He could get only two channels, both German.
One was porn, the other was football.
He used to impress us with his knowledge of the offside rule in German
I most heartily recommend the Lidl brand Belgian chocolate cheesecake with edible gold glitter on top.The base is a bit too crumbly but it's lovely and creamy and yum, yum, yum.
Might be sick of it before I finish it, though. Rather a large cake for one person to get through.
Think I'll give half to the neighbours tomorrow.
Got a lovely email from my sister in law today.
Her health is greatly improved and she's well enough to travel down south to have family Christmas this year.
I feeling very homesick at the moment.

German porn?
Cellulite and shouting.
I bow to your greater experience in these matters, you're obviously much more widely travelled than meMind you having seen Germans on a Spanish beach, you could well have summed it up perfectly
I can't believe grownups (maybe there's the problem) would give other grownups clothes. The mental disconnect is huge - I have hated clothes as presents since I was 11 and the parental units decided not to bother giving me anything I might actually enjoy, like a book, and instead gave me clothes that I didn't like and bath salts I never used.Did these people have any idea who their eldest daughter was?
My mum used to give me a box of Turkish Delight every year, amongst other things. I was in my 20s when I finally told her I couldn't stand the stuff. She was so disappounted! I felt as though I'd kicked a toddler.
I can't stand Turkish Delight either. Made it difficult to understand Edmund in The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe when I was a kid.
That's another thing my sil gives. Bath shit. Was okay when I lived in Nigeria, cuz I could regift it there.
I like my family. We are honest with one another. No fake thank yous and getting the same crap year on year to 'be polite'.
You have to be polite to acquaintances. If you feel that way with family, there's something seriously wrong.
Really, really homesick...
