Kath and Jud congrats, I'm just signing on for physio, Desley, take it easy and I agree with Will, a day off sounds like a good idea. Will I hope your kindle has settled down now!
Cheers

The front door is much easier to open since the handyman put some WD40 in it, it still isn’t perfect, but don’t need to use my elbow to try and open it. Downside is I have a bad habit of putting my housekey in my mouth while opening the car, and it tastes awful! Did end up going shopping yesterday, neighbour forgot her phone with her details to get her parcels, and I forgot my purse! I am still between purses as I haven’t got round to swapping all the cards over, and I had put my old purse in my bag in case I needed them, but my brain clearly thought one was enough! Was a bit windy, struggled to open the car door, but today is bright and cold. Do need to go the co-op, as I couldn’t do that last night, as my voucher was in my new purse. Doubt I’ll need a day off after an MRI Will, the one I had on my knee last year was first thing in the morning, and I went straight to work, although this will be longer as they are doing spine and pelvis. I am booking the day off just because spending part of Sat at one hosp and part of Sun at a different one doesn't leave much time for housework, although may get plenty of reading done! Good luck with the physio MT
Just been out with my girlie pals in the village. Old girlies - you need to be retired to have lunch out during the day. Book group tonight.
Best of luck (always a factor), but you will have a great application.I could never do that job - more power to you.

Hope it goes really well for you
I woke up this morning and wondered what the funny noise was - it took a few moments to realise that it was a complete lack of wind outside. Silence! But if it's windy Will's side of the country then I suppose it's heading our way later.Unfortunately somebody seems to have turned up the gravity though. Struggling to move with any enthusiasm...
Good for you Jud, I'm sure you'll do well.
Morning all. Day two of having a central heating system installed is in full swing here and hopefully won't go as badly as day one (Who knew that when you got your house connected to the gas mains, they didn't actually fit a meter and that won't come for another week?!)Continued chaos means little chance to read or write, but hopefully once it's all done, something resembling calm can descend on the place, at least for a couple of weeks anyway.
Just had today’s ‘drama ‘ lesson, put toys away before school or watch TV. Can’t do both apparently! Anyway after the meltdown I decided a walk to school might cool him down it wasn’t raining - it is niwthough but blowing a gale so that didn’t go well either. Tantrum in the middle of the road. The school is 5 minutes walk away, it takes 5 minutes to drive it too by the time you’ve parked with difficulty as there are three schools next to each other and the only access is a cul de sac. I feel sorry for the residents on the street. It must be a nightmare at in and home times. Anyway, I explained I got held up a long while yesterday as a van wouldn’t advance or back up and the traffic was blocked for ages. I was ok I was parked out of the way so I sat and looked at my phone till they’d sorted themselves out. I said it was the van driver being awkward that caused the problem. Harry looked so serious and asked “Was he driving like a Fanny? “ I did laugh. I think that’s one of mine - it could have been worse 😀Sorry Alicia I’ve only just seen your comment about VRT. I’ll look it up. She’s got an appointment on the 23rd ENT clinic.
The co-op had loads of bargains, I was restrained, but ended up buying a lot for my neighbour! Luckily most are on till after I get paid, so will go back for some. Petplan paid me yesterday, which is a bonus. Dull again today though, Lucy woke me up at 4 this morning, but managed to feel relatively OK when I woke up this morning, so in early. Going to go to the doc in the morning, chest hurt when I brushed my hair this morning, and taking a deep breath made me cough so much I nearly threw up and had tears streaming down my face. Hope you aren't coming down with something R. Good luck getting the gas sorted Ben. Let's hope that's the last of the meltdowns Lynne, Harry's response made me chuckle. Hope your daughters app goes OK next week.
The coughing doesn't sound good, Desley. Hope its nothing serious.I only seem to find bargains when I've no money. It's a special talent, or something

The trouble with finding bargains when you've no money is the saving from not buying them is less than the saving you'd have made not buying them when they were at full price

Woke up this morning on the tenth floor of Saint Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco. It was okay Monday-Wednesday, but this morning some giant was throwing buckets of water against the windows, and the opened blinds showed the deep fog SF is famous for.Home now, daughter is okay and home today, and I see how easy it is to get to SF from Davis in a Lyft. For two people, is isn't even more expensive than taking the train, with a Lyft or Uber at each end, and a transfer point.
Nothing beats door-to-door service - but I will be wiped out for days. In a good cause. She appreciated having her parents there; and is now home with a good friend in her building helping. And by 'helping' I mean doing ALL the work incredibly well.
To good friends!
Hi AliciaIt is amazing how transportation has changed over the years, and the relative costs of it as well
Ended up seeing a locum doc this morning, never had my chest listened to through my clothes before! Not sure if he heard anything, but he gave me antibiotics anyway, due to the duration. Was in and out in less than 10 mins, so had enough time to get to the chemist and still be at work for 9! Handyman coming back again after work to replace the two doorhandles, and friend coming round to pick up what I order off Amazon for her. Might leave nipping to Lidl till tomorrow.Glad you and your daughter are home Alicia, hope you recover quickly.

Thanks for your good wishes. Have many naps to take, but the major part is over (she's cracking jokes again).
Handyman managed to fix the front door without replacing the handle, and as I only wanted the bedroom door fixing to put dressing gowns back on, we have left that, apparently it isn't a good idea to hang them there anyway, so need to go and get some more sticky hooks and find a new place. Was raining after he finished so didn't go to Lidl. Woke up this morning with a pounding headache, was supposed to be going meeting friends this afternoon to see a new baby, but have dropped out. Not much housework and nipping to Lidl. Glad things are improving Alicia
Morning! Bright and sunny here but bitterly cold. Been for our little constitutional and glad to be indoors wrapping myself round a cuppa.Got my edits back yesterday - now to get stuck in!
Stunning day today, very cold but bright sun. Went metal detecting. Found very little, a couple of musket balls and a button, but it was lovely to be out.
Lovely sunny and cloudless sky here too. I went into Edinburgh to view some culture, came across a wee timorous (actually he wasn't timorous at all, he was ballsy as anything) beastie running through the halls of that august institution the Royal Scottish Academy. Then met younger daughter for lunch.Shocked by the state of the Princes Street gardens after the Christmas tat markets have gone :(
touch of frost last night.Gave Maljie a signed paperback copy of the book of her exploits, which was fun :-)
Up early, have earache today. Just opened the front door to find lots of white frost, looks pretty, but cold. Boring housework today, unless neighbour suggests doing something.
Urgh, still not finished the housework, getting very breathless when I do much, might have to leave hoovering the front room. Just bought the latest book Jim.

I'm sure the cats will enjoy it Jim, doubt it'll be this year, one of yours is already earmarked for my non fiction month
No frost here but it was chilly first thing. Then the sun came out, and it got warm, not warmy warm, but better than cold, warm! Spent all day learning the latest on how to do something re advertising, then realised I couldn't do it as the blasted site won't accept my country of residence as Jersey - even though it's an option. I can't choose the UK as then it wants a VAT number. GrrrrrrrDesley, do you have different topics etc. by month for your reading?

This month is classics, i haven't set months but am open to suggestions. Wondering if I can fit Cyber Sisters in my female authors month

That is a good idea, Desley. For the wild cards are you looking for a genre you wouldn't usually read? (Thank you for thinking of Cyber Sisters)
Kelly wrote: "That is a good idea, Desley. For the wild cards are you looking for a genre you wouldn't usually read? I think it's a great way to get organised. I have piles of books (paperback and Kindle) to read.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "Here's a link to my challenge post with my categories https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/..."
I like your categories
I've been thinking about it overnight, it's a more useful set of categories than just going with genres
Was really foggy after tea last night, still a bit misty now. Struggled to get up this morning, so completely forgot to open my fridge, so no cheese, grapes or yoghurt (I was planning on having cheese and crackers, as there is still Christmas cheese in the fridge!). Luckily I had some food in the freezer at work (although I always keep an emergency tin of soup in my drawer for that reason), so I at least have lunch. Not quite as breathless, and earache isn’t as bad. Need to get petrol after work and going to pop in Morrisons to get some cat food – not supposed to be buying any this month, but we are running low on some of them! Thanks guys. I think it is a better way to spread books around than genres, and books cover 2 or 3 categories, so more scope to get them read, and still gives me the opportunity to take part in other challenges. Struggling to pick for some of them though, as I have so many to choose from! I did something similar a couple of years ago, then the only month I struggled with was the Classics, so ironic I started this year off with them! I have been a bit lenient with the definition though, starting with Enid Blyton and Agatha Christie. Ironically as I decided to read In Cold Blood as a classic rather than non-fiction, I’ve left myself animal books for non-fiction, which is unusual for me. As I'm trying to spread authors, maybe I should have added a category for number of authors read!
I'm happy with Enid Blyton and Agatha Christie as classics, you've got to admit it boosts the readability of the genre ;-)
I really enjoy Agatha Christie. Mum and I watched Murder on the Orient Express followed by Death on the Nile back to back on Christmas Eve. It was all rather good! Death on the Nile was definitely the better film though.Have just spent the day uploading the new ebook everywhere ... out on 8th Feb if anyone's interested.
Cheers

Jim wrote: "I'm interested :-)"😁👍 Yay! I've just done a sweep of your books and bought all the ones I've missed. Sometimes When you release lots at once I miss the odd one.
