No sunrise again today, nothing much to say really. What a shame the post office is so limited Kath. I’ll have some mince pies! Very random comment there Kath! Oh dear Lynne! I hope you can persuade daughter to stay at home, doesn’t sound like it is the best thing for her to be doing. Sorry you had a tyre blow out Will, glad you cancelled your meeting
Will wrote: "I had been booked to drive to Blackpool today to see a client. cancelling it yesterday was so the right decision.Especially as I had a tyre blow out on the way to the agricultural merchants down ..."
it's a bit unpleasant here, that is a fact. I'm supposed to be going along St Johns in the Vale tomorrow!
Will wrote: "We have snow flurries here now. Bet Jim has the real thing"No, just rain
We're supposed to see Snow on Thursday. Oh joy, I'm supposed to be going up to Penrith!
Jeepers. What awful weather. I had to take little lad to school and watch his play. His mum was really too ill to go as I thought and with the weather she was better at home. I lost my scarf - gone with the wind. It went into her neighbours back garden so I ran round thinking I could get it but her gate was locked, ran back and it was nowhere to be seen. I liked that scarf too, bummer! The play was really good, I loved it. My shepherd was just about ok but he was upset his mum couldn’t go but at least he didn’t go walkabout like one of the lambs. Then the bridge was closed due to the winds which made his dad have an hour’s detour so I had to go to meet him from school. Got soaked through. What a day.
Good morning! The final village hall fish and chip lunch of the year - and it's the Christmas Edition - Christmas pinny all ironed and ready.
Not as wet and windy as yesterday, we briefly had blue sky, but now overcast again. Our Christmas bonus is a turkey, and we donate some to the local soup kitchen, so I’ve asked if they would like some tinned/dry goods as well, and if so what, they rang me yesterday to let me know what is top of their wish list, not something I would have thought of buying, so really glad I asked. I also get a hamper for a health and safety role, I’m going to donate some items from there – I contemplated giving them the whole hamper, but I normally give the animal charity the things I can’t eat. Had a rubbish night sleep though, forced myself to get out of bed. Glad the play went well, and that his mum saw sense and stayed at home.
Little lad poorly today. Bright red and temperature of 40. I’m asking Santa for a nurses outfit. Well if he’s off school at least I haven’t got to out in the rain like yesterday to fetch him home. I’m jinxed if I can touch it I can break it this week. I started another Christmas cake today as the one I made last week did look really over baked. I was amazed at the mess I made with I tablespoon of molasses . I got it everywhere then I broke my iPad case. A corner fell off. I successfully superglued it to my right thumb
I have to decide if I can ride my Airwheel S8 over to physical therapy today - it's across a busy street and just down the block, so I should be able to, but I'm a little scared about crossing the big street on what is essentially a hoverboard with a bicycle seat.Honestly! At my age!
These things usually go to 'will I regret it forever if I don't even try'? Hate to be such a chicken.

I'd probably get arrested if I did that

Wot no tinsel?
Morning all. Fantastic moonlight last night
yes there was for a while but it's clouded over and raining nowApparently when I come back from Penrith they're promising snow and rain over Shap
Busy day today then, look after poorly little lad take daughter to doctors, dentist get my hair cut, vote and wait for my new microwave to be delivered. It’s absolutely peeing down with rain too. Joy oh joy.
Hmm, woke up this morning, my phone told me it was snowing, but it was just raining. Not had proper daylight again today. Rather gutted, the animal rescue are closed to the public on Christmas Eve this year, so I can’t do my Christmas Eve tradition, I’ll have to go on Mon instead. Ironic as my neighbour booked the Christmas Eve meal late so I could come this year!Sorry little lad is poorly Lynne, is he OK to be around his mum? Sorry you are jinxed this week. Sounds interesting Alicia, hope you decided to do it! Did they appreciate you for that Patti.
How do? Got the shopping done this morning - half for us and half for the food bank. It's surprising what you can save by not buying cards - or sending them. Even second class postage is silly money if you do it in bulk.Making Tiffin this aft. I'll report back - cos I've fiddled with the recipe I found online as it's too calorific. These will be calorific enough without adding extra butter and sugar!
Nice that you've also bought stuff for the foodbank Kath, I also don't send cards anymore, apart from the family. Interesting to see what the Tiffin turns out like
Tonsillitis for the little lad. And the offer to return to hospital for daughter. She politely refused but I’m watching her. If she’s any worse tomorrow she’s going. On a brighter note I got my new microwave this afternoon. It has a ‘Chaos’ defrost button. I kid you not. I have the feeling I’ve already pressed the chaos button.😀
The whole country pressed the Chaos button some time ago I think! Hope you're managing to take care of yourself as well Lynne, you've been through the mill lately xx
Yes I’m fine. My cold has gone and I even had a haircut today. I’m creeping up on Christmas preparations in good spirits. Not drinking any though, just in case I get a phone call and have to dash out in the car. Thank you. Xx
Someone had to try to get the teachers smiling. It worked with some of them.Board gave us all bottles of red wine after the show last night. Nice gesture but Dave and I can't drink red.
Sheesh.
Half day. We fly on Sunday.
In Wales on Monday.
Miserable weather again today, people seem to be in a happy mood today wearing Christmas jumpers, I have a red dress and Christmas earrings, but declined going on the group photo. My colleague has found a playlist of 100 Greatest Christmas songs that she’s playing all day, thank god Friday is a short day. I think I’m getting a cold though, last night my chest was sore and had a sore throat, but didn’t know if it was just coughing so much, but I woke up like that and was also running a bit of a temp. Ended up going to the cheap shop last night, I got the soup kitchen some hard cheese, soft cheese, individually wrapped biscuits and sandwich paste. The only thing I think is good about the election result is Brexit might finally be done in Jan! I did buy some Christmas cheeses last night and we do need to go to Lidl for some of theirs. Sorry little lad has tonsillitis Lynne, not good that they wanted your daughter back in hospital, how is she today? Glad your cold is better. Not sure Wales will be much better for you Patti, are you here till New Year?
Hi! Tiffin a huge success. Today we took advantage of a break in the weather to trawl the beach at Spurn. Found some stones for a project.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "Sounds interesting Alicia, hope you decided to do it!..."I did, sort of. I look a Lyft over, so I wouldn't be worried about time or show up all hot and flustered.
But I rode Maggie back. This city needs some sidewalk repair! But we made it, and no one ran over me in the crosswalks, and it really is a short trip.
Hope you create a new Christmas tradition for yourself.

Definitely coming down with something, had an early night but still feel a bit achy. Fortunately not a lot of housework to do, but going to go to the chemist, ingrowing toenail looks a bit red, will see if they think it's infected. Hopefully not, or I might have to go to the Urgent Care Centre. Then nipping to Lidl for Christmas cheese and maybe going to the new coffee shop to try their Yorkshire Pudding wraps. That sounds a good way of doing it Alicia, glad you made it safe. Glad triffin was a success Kath
Morning, we had proper wintery weather yesterday, rain, hail, sleet and snow - fortunately in that order, so despite large snow flakes, it was too wet. Didn't end up going to Lidl, we went round 3 other shops instead and I came back with things I didn't even need. Think whatever I'm coming down with is settling on my chest. Got some Deep Freeze and Deep Heat from the chemist, Deep Freeze seemed to help knee and shoulder, but made foot more painful, although when I tried it again when my foot was actually hurting this morning and it was better. Got a few bits to do today, including wrapping presents and then put the decorations up, think I've held off long enough!
Morning all. Off to Christmas lunch. The election result isn’t the one I wanted - it was kind of a choice between having root canal without anaesthetic or a chilli enema wasn’t it, but thank heavens the campaign is over. That was human nature at its worst wasn’t it? Vile. Luckily only one conservative I know was the grim gloating type who posted mocking memes all over facebook, but I have to put up with him because he’s family. Sigh. Happy Sunday everyone.
Cheers
MTM
Hi, each. Been busy with preparing a new project. Art, not writing this time. Wish it weren't so bitterly cold.
Yes it's a snell wind right enough. Looks lovely though.I've had three days selling my wares in the old-supermarket-now-a-table-for-hire venture in the High Street which I have done for a few years now. Made enough to cover my rent but gosh the town was quiet. Word is the punters were all in Edinburgh this week and next week will be better, but I think a lot of the shopkeepers are quite worried - and we have one of the best and most varied High Streets in Scotland. Aching feet though - I'd forgotten what it's like to stand all day!

Lynne I really hope the New Year brings better and easier times. It's miserable here, and cold. Also both my cheery Christmas lunches this week have been cancelled, today's due to train trouble and Thursdays due to some mandatory crappy course one of the ladies has to go on.On the up side, here's a lovely story: https://secretldn.com/mind-the-gap-em...
My first thought when I woke up this morning was that it is my last Monday get up of the year, made me happy. Although then I had a nightmare getting the girls back in their room so was running late. At least we have blue skies today, after the miserable weather last week. Feeling worse today, and not helped by the fact that the Christmas tree also makes me cough. Friend is supposed to be coming round this evening for her stuff, as long as I can get it all home. Our security guy has just kindly brought us a load of cakes and chocolate, very nice of him. We are also doing a raffle this week and he’s given us a prize for that too. Any update on your daughter Lynne? I did see a headline last week R about high streets struggling.
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Hi my lovelies. In Wales now and absolutely shattered.Nap time."
glad you made it,
Welcome to the wet, dark and cold :-)
Evening! I'm home for the first part of my Christmas visit. Unfortunately I'll have to nip back up for two shifts but I'm off from the evening of Christmas Eve so doing a mad dash home as soon as I finish work so I'm home for Christmas :) Hope the Christmas shopping is going well for everyone.
Patti (baconater) wrote: "It got dark at 4:30! Grief.I'm loving the quiet."
In the last couple of weeks we've had days when it never really got light!
I wish I had some good news but not yet. Daughter got an ear infection flaring up but is being treated. I’m convinced it wasn’t all cleared before leaving hospital. The meningitis society said a care plan should be in place before discharge, well that wasn’t done either. One minute in barrier nursing with half hour obs Then go home. Little lad is on steroid fir his chest and my OH has got a cold. He can’t say it’s flu because he’s had the vaccination. Me and the dog are ok but he had bellyache last night. It’s hard going at the moment. 😁

Especially as I had a tyre blow out on the way to the agricultural merchants down the road.
