Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Wet and windy here, I do have to nip out to do a couple of errands this afternoon unfortunately. Might treat myself to a hot choc from the new shop on the way back, they have just started a book swap, I might take them some books and hope I don't come back with any! Got my smear results, they have changed them now, they check for HPV and if negative, don't look any further as you are deemed low risk, mine came back negative fortunately. Looking forward to the VLF festival.

So sorry to hear she is so poorly Lynne, could it have anything to do with her accident? It must be so hard to see her like that. Hope they find some answers, and hope Harry is OK for you x

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments She’s not been well since her flu jab. But the accident with the drain only caused bruising to her back and pelvis. The flu jab could be a red herring or a catalyst but the adult flu vaccine is a a killed virus. The kids one up the nose is live though. Harry should have had his yesterday but they couldn’t give it him as I hadn’t got written parental permission. I had his appointment card but they needed a signed dated letter of consent. It may have been fortuitous in the circumstances. I’ve made another appointment for it for him for next week. Apparently if anyone is on chemo or immuno compromised in the family children having been given the nasal treatment shouldn’t be in close contact for 3 weeks.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments I know you said she hadn't been well since the jab, but this sounds severe if she's never reacted before, so I'm wondering if the fall could have caused something and the flu jab tipped her over.

That's absolutely awful. I've had some bad employers too but they are setting themselves up for industrial tribunal.

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Lynne, that is absolutely shocking. They should be ashamed of themselves, treating loyal employees in that way. So hope your daughter feels a bit better soon.

Thanks, Desley, hope you enjoyed it. x

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Another gloomy day, Sunday chores this morning, then the rescue Lucy is from are having their Christmas Fayre, so going over and need to do Tesco and Aldi on the way back. Really enjoyed the book festival yesterday, nipped to the coffee shop but forgot to take any books, have told them I'll go back next week with some, but I'm not allowed to take any!

Any update on your daughter Lynne?

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all, really busy day yesterday setting up the local art group winter show and then our preview in the afternoon. Weather horrible but plenty of visitors. Whether they were attracted there by the mulled wine and hot mice pies on offer or the art is another matter :)
I do hope your daughter is showing some good improvement today Lynne.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments LOL that should say mince pies...

message 12411: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Sorry to hear about your daughter, Lynne. I hope she soon improves but it's no way to treat employees.

It's brighter today and at least it's dry. I'm off downstairs to play with thread and crochet hooks. They can't stop me!

message 12412: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments We will know a bit more this afternoon. She was well enough to phone me this morning to say she’d had her lumbar puncture. She’s got meningitis & something else but she’d already forgotten what. She didn’t know she’d had a scan on Friday at all. She was tearful and apologetic as we’ve all got to have treatment. What and when I shall probably find out when I go to see her. Thinking ahead probably the little lad won’t be allowed to go to school but i really don’t know yet. They’d started her treatment. She asked for her kindle but then said she probably wouldn’t be a level to read but we shall see. The pain and sickness are unbelievable.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Fayre went well, I was late getting there as neighbour was supposed to come, so quite a lot had gone, but I managed to get a nice notebook (one of the things I went to the retail park for but forgot I needed!) and won a set of Prosecco scented candles. Won 2 other things too, but redonated them! Aldi was horrendous though, glad that as neighbour didn't come, I didn't have to go to Tesco. Couple of bits left to do and going to have a bath to warm up. Annoyingly got a reminder from Pets at Home that I have a 5% discount, wish I'd remembered that on Fri!

Hope you have got all the answers by now Lynne, hope the treatment you all need isn't that bad.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments It’s all a bit vague as it was Sunday night and no one about to give me any info. But the main thing is she’s much better than the day before. Her head is still very painful but she says it’s like a bad migraine now not unbearable like before. She’s having all sorts of medication via a drip. One bag after another. I sent her a tray of prepared fruit and toiletries and light Tee shirt nightie with Paul in the afternoon and she’d eaten the fruit and got the nightie on so she really had perked up. I’ve woken up with a bad throat and cold. I had to wear mask gloves and gown last night visiting. So at least I didn’t breathe cold germs on her as well. But shutting the stable door did come to mind as we’ve all been close.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments It must be so worrying, Lynne.
Having a day where I'm contemplating baking some stuff to freeze. Next week (when the village cake club is on again) looks a bit frantic with other things so I may get some in the bag while I can.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Gloomy again today, can’t remember when we saw blue skies, or even a bit of blue. Nothing interesting really.

Sorry you didn’t get much of an update yesterday Lynne, but glad the meds are working and she seems better in herself. Do hope you just have a cold and not the start of something similar.

message 12417: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Gloomy here too, and a bit flat after flogging books for three days. Have to give the cleaner a lift home now, too, which is a bit of a pain.

Cheers

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments How did the Fayre go MT?

message 12419: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments It was kind of mixed. I only sold two calendars which was a real bummer as they were supposed to be the easy to sell item that would bank roll the books. The books on the other hand, washed their faces quite nicely. Go figure! So it was very quiet the first day, and I only sold about 12, the second day was busier but on the third day, I sold more than I’ve ever sold before on the Sunday. Overall it wasn’t great, on par with the year when I was put next to a man selling brand new books by well known authors for £1 each. On the other hand, it was the first year in a new venue. Also, there’s a makers’ market round the corner which runs on Saturdays so I may be able to get in there one week, before Christmas, and get rid of some more calendars.

Cheers

MTM

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I’m not a hypochondriac but I have been checking on symptoms etc. It’s really frightening when it said 1 in 5 cases are fatal that scared me rigid. yes I’m sure it’s just a cold but I’m almost hoarse but I do get laryngitis when I’m really stressed. she has pneumococcal meningitis and sepsis. Her dad went up tonight as I was looking after the little lad and thought it wasn’t a good idea to take my germs to her. Harry can’t have his flu vaccine because she’s got no immunity - I don’t know if that’s because of her illness or the treatment or what.. She’s stable at the moment. I’m off to bed - I’ve had enough for one day. 😀

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments How scary. I hope it all turns out well for you.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Still no daylight, apparently we are going to get some sun by the end of the week, but the temp is going to drop. Avon order coming tonight. Need to ring the Co-op, they have been trying to ring me to check up on my recent query, which hasn’t been fixed, but I didn’t recognise the number so I’ve been ignoring it till they left me a message yesterday! Just had a text from the dentist, I have an app on Thu that I had completely forgotten about!

At least you sold some MT, and it wasn’t a waste. Typical that what you thought would sell didn’t, the amount of times we would unpack things for the market stall and go ‘that’ll never sell’ and it was the first thing to go. That sounds a scary diagnosis Lynne, do hope she makes a full recovery.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Little lad has moved in. Daughter has a minimum of 10 days said the doctor but the microbiologist will decide after that. I’ve already cut his pizza the ‘wrong’ way. It’s going to be ‘fun’

message 12425: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Thanks Desley, and good luck with the dentist!
Lynne, I expect he’s a little bit up in the air and worried about his Mum ... like you are. I’m sure he’ll settle and it sounds as if your daughter is recovering well so I hope that continues.

Cheers

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Hope your daughter is on the road to recovery, Lynne. The little one is in the right place with you. Take care of yourself.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Forgot to say yesterday, I did drive past a garden that had Christmas tree lights in it on Mon night, assume that will be the start! We actually got some daylight about 3pm, ironic as sunset is at 4. No daylight today but the clouds look less grey. Think we might be nipping to the co-op after work. Just been told we only have 3 full weeks left in work this year, think they are going to fly. I have already started my to do list for while I’m off.

Hope little lad moving in with you makes things easier Lynne, am sure he will act up initially as it must be confusing for him too.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Hes gone to school today, coughing a bit but not ill. He was good yesterday apart from his pizza wobbly. It must be strange for him so when he woke in the night he wanted company so I slept in his bed with him. I’m used to sleeping on the edge as my OH & the dog get the lion’s share of mine. She’s having more scans today. She FaceTimed us this morning and her sepsis rash was still very visible. It seems to be worse but she’s got so much going in two canulars and injections into her stomach. Oh well I’ve got to do the school run. Wish me luck some of those drivers are awful. I often leave my car at my daughter’s and walk the few minutes to school if it’s not raining.

Bought lots of extra baking products today so I see tomorrow as Big Baking Day. Keeps me off street corners. ;)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Rain again today. Woke up really early with a sore throat, so figured I might as well get up and get some of the tidying I was going to do tonight done, as I’m at the dentist straight after work and the cleaner is coming tomorrow. Throat better, but have a cough instead. Dropped my glasses and caught them with my foot last night, so need to go to Specsavers tomorrow as one of the arms isn’t straight – ironic really as they have felt really loose the past week so I was thinking I could do with going back!

How have you got on with the school traffic Lynne? Any more updates on your daughter?

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments No progress I made afraid. Her doctor is trying desperately to get the ENT consultant to see her and has been for two days. He thinks she’d be ok to go the 40:miles to see him! There’s a stand off and hopefully he will see her AFTER his clinic tomorrow. He’d bloody well better. The infection is in her sinuses and isn’t responding which is really worrying. I think her Dad will be at the hospital tomorrow to see what’s happening. Our hospital is good but the health board and Glangwili are shocking.

message 12440: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments That sounds horrendous Lynne! I hope her work take it seriously and give her time to recover, she'll be exhausted for a long time (based on my Aunt's recovery of sepsis alone but she would be a fair bit older too!). What a nightmare for you all.

I'm up to make a few changes to my CV, met a girl at a recruitment agency the other week and haven't got around to it yet, I can't remember half of what she said but I'll do my best.

I hope everyone else is fairing reasonably well in this season of tummy bugs and sniffles.

Yes our Christmas tree is up :o)

message 12441: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Good morning! Where is everyone this Black Friday? Hope you're not all out spending.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Yeah I'm here, mooching about, spammer hunting. Not out shopping that's for sure!

Glorious day here today after some more than dreich weather this week, and super high tides that combined with big waves last night to come up and over all the seafront houses. Today you wouldn't know apart from all the sand and seaweed in slightly odd places.

Keeping everything crossed for Lynne's daughter too.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Yay, we have blue skies today! Admittedly I did have to scrape the car as it was still -1 at 8.30, but I’d rather that. Our Christmas tree at work arrived yesterday, seem to be reacting to it more this year. So a lot of people have started decorating desks too. Going to nip to Specsavers after work and then the co-op.
Aww, congratulations Claire! You should be proud of yourself. Sorry there is no progress Lynne, do hope they sort out the ENT consult, sinus infections are very unpleasant. Good luck sorting our your CV Jud.

message 12444: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments ENT consultant saw her. Husband went up to make sure as she’d phoned earlier to say she’d had a fall and came to on the bathroom floor and split her head open. She’s going to be transferred to another hospital for an op on her sinus when she’s a bit more stable. They’ve glued her scalp and changed the antibiotics again. What a day! Little lad has gone home with his dad so I’m enjoying a quiet half hour. OH has gone to see her.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Specsavers were able to sort my glasses out for free, which I'm pleased about, they warned me they might break when they tried to fix them. Took advantage of being in the town centre to get an extra present and nipped to B & M to get something for this Mission Christmas, we have quite a lot under our tree already. Been to drop off something with a friend, nipped to the chemist, partly for my prescription and partly to ask if I can increase my brown inhaler, then went to Lidl. Now taking advantage of a couple of black Friday offers.

Shocking news about London, hope no one is badly affected. Sorry your daughter had a fall in hospital Lynne, good luck for the sinus operation, I believe they are unpleasant.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Up early today, me and Lucy were having lovely cuddles, then it sounded like something was scratching about in the chimney! Had to go outside to look, according to my phone it was 0 but felt like -3, lovely white frost on cars and houses. Came back in and turned the heating up! Need to go back to the chemist today as they gave me part of someone else's prescription, and it is our Christmas light switch on, I only go as there are charity stalls, including the rescue Lucy is from. My neighbour has her granddaughter this weekend so I've offered to take her. Not much housework to do fortunately.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Sorry to moan but it’s what happens when hospitals are pushed to the limits and health boards are bad managers. Husband had to reload both barrels last night. She was transferred to another ward, no notes or medicines. She was 4 hours over her pain relief by the time he left and no anti coagulation treatment. A male nurse loftily informed him she wouldn’t get it as she’d had a heart attack. My husband stood firm and told him ( the nurse ) that he didn’t know what he was talking about. Apparently the patient in room 6 my daughter was put in room 5. Well she wasn’t at first . The sister was going to put her in a bay of 4 until husband told her she’d been in full barrier nursing in the other unit. It didn’t go well, but he went for her notes and own medicines she brought in. As they didn’t have them on the ward.
. I’m right out of action. I’m coughing and sneezing and unable to see her only on FaceTime as her immunity is non existant and so is her blood pressure.
Once they did her controls it was panic central and she’s been forbidden to move.. she’s happy I’m looking after Harry and keeping things going here. My arse kicking boots are getting a bit worn out though.
The ENT consultant came into the ward to see her and tell her she was being transferred to his unit once she’s stable. He must have seen something when she was taken down to his clinic. Husband took her down and back in a wheelchair between treatments. There’s ructions in the reorganisation (another closure) of the midwife led maternity unit so it’s not a happy hospital anywhere. Once the health board and the Welsh assembly say xy and z won’t change and are safe with us you know damn well they are for the axe and they assured this wouldn’t happen as recently as a month ago, I do have words for them but best not said out loud.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments That's horrendous Lynne, she's lucky to have you two fighting for her, god knows what would have happened otherwise. And lucky you are able yo look after Harry. Sorry you are unable to see her though, must be hard for you x
