Pop in for a chat!
Knee much better this morning, but woke up early with rib pain, had to get up before the alarm, as I couldn’t get comfy, even Lucy gave up on me! Very wet and wild today, didn’t end up getting petrol last night, so just chucked £5 in at the expensive one on the way to work this morning and will go on the way home tomorrow. Wearing my second pair of new shoes today, don’t think these will be work shoes, slightly higher heel than the others, so knee hurts more. Although as they are burgundy and I like to wear purple tights for work it wouldn’t work anyway! Supposed to be going to the Co-op after work, but not if the weather stays like this! Glad you don't have to brave the weather Lynne.
Cake club was full this morning. I do love a bit of cake, and so does everyone else, it seems.

I’ve had a week like that, but the friend I was seeing tomorrow has cancelled, which is sad but will help me get on with all the stuff I’m supposed to be doing, like finally finishing book 2 of the current series and sending it off for editing. It is a Christmas story ... sort of ... so I do need to get my finger out of my bottom and publish it ... well ... at least while it’s still winter.
Have to activate the lasting power of attorney over Mum’s finances, though, so that might take a bit of time and application too, not to mention the memorial in just over a week! Oh and the Christmas Fayre. Thought I’d failed to score a stall but someone’s dropped out! Three days of tub thumping selling! :-)

Morning. Raining - there, that surprised you, didn't it?Off to Leeds tomorrow to meet a mate. I hope the lines aren't flooded. I'm sure this is the wrong sort of rain.
What a difference 24 hours makes weather wise, from wild to calm, we have nice blue skies today, still a tad windy and cold, but a nice autumnal day. Going getting petrol after work and nipping to Lidl, then going to a friends for tea as my bro is over and he is staying there, to collect my present, no doubt will have a few drinks. Sad night last night, my neighbour had to put her eldest cat to sleep, she was 19. Glad you are happy with the audio book MT. Good luck sorting out paperwork for your mum. A 3 day Fayre??? Fingers crossed you can meet your friend tomorrow Kath, I know some of the lines in West Yorkshire were flooded.

I confess I do feel slightly envious. How much is a table?
It's £85 for the whole thing, three days, but I'm in the crafter's Venu run by the Lyons club, a little off the beaten track. I think pukka stalls are way more expensive. We'd have to get a group of us to do that I think.
I was forgetting you have merchandise as well as just books. That spreads the pain :-)
I was taken out for lunch at the Ivy in Edinburgh today, which was nice. Waddled home and not needed to eat since! A glass of wine also had a somewhat soporific effect. I don’t know how anyone could work after more than a sandwich at lunchtime! zzzzzzzz

Had a lovely evening with friends and bro, didn't get home till 1, then by the time I'd fed everyone etc, it was 2 when I got to sleep and was still awake at 7.30! Have tried getting back to sleep with no luck. Do feel drained now, fortunately not much to do this morning, and going out for an early tea and more alcohol with ex colleagues this afternoon, looking forward to it. Me too desley. Guests tonight so it's all hands to the pump hoovering, preparing spare rooms etc. Also need to pop up to the market and get my veg in for the week. Luckily today's blog post was an instant one from Jim. 😁👍Nearly finished editing the next one in the series. Should probably get that to the editor this week. Also managed to get the process started for registering power of attorney for mum's finances. Rang the solicitors to get them to send me the documents and discovered that in a rare for of organisation I'd got them to send it to me with dad's. 😲😲😲😲😁 But while I was ruthlessly efficient enough to do that I still managed to make a right tit of myself by ringing them and asking for it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 A partial success then.

Nothing bad, but one doctor appointment takes me out for two days, and they have to be done. One was husband's, but required a trip to another city on the Med Van, and me there for many hours, so he would have a 'competent person' (ha! SO far off the mark) to be 'responsible for him' when he woke up. The Med Van driver wasn't acceptable, because he couldn't be relied upon to show up within fifteen minutes of being called.
The stress of the long trip was somewhat allayed by me showing off Maggie (my Airwheel) to the Transportation staff at the hospital - I'm such a showoff. Hard not to, when everyone looks so amazed at this older person zooming by with almost no visible means of support.

Up here it's cold but dry and no real wind, a good day for the Remembrance ceremonies
Had another lovely time catching up, started with a pear drop gin and lemonade, and then had a dessert with gin ice cream and had a Bavarian coffee, which had kirsch liqueur in it, bit too strong but nice. Lovely blue sky, think I better do some housework after barely doing anything yesterday. Decided to spend my birthday money on the larger version of the cat handbag, with a coin purse to go with the small bag (although I do love the large purse!) and matching mug. Glad it was just appointments and stuff and nothing more serious Alicia. At least you have the paperwork MT. Hope you had a good time with your guests
I really should get a move on as I’ve got a birthday cake and cupcakes to make for little lad’s party tomorrow. Ive got some lovely cake toppers so the decorations are quite easy. I read last night of a French woman strangled by her scarf in a kitchen gadget of some sort. One paper said it was a multicooker the other a robot chef but i can’t really see either having enough ooomph to kill. Anyway I’ve taken off my silky scarf and rolled my sleeves up. I don’t want to do an ‘’Isadora’ with my Kenwood. ’
Struggled to get up this morning, didn’t help that it sounded like hail was hitting my window! New handbag arrived, it is more a satchel style with a lot of Velcro on, but at least has outside pockets for my keys and plenty of pockets to keep things separate. Have tried dropping a hint to a friend that I want the matching purse, only downside is there are 4 different styles, hope she doesn’t go for the coin purse I’ve already ordered! Need to go and get a stir fry pack from Lidl after work for my tea and they did a limited edition washing up liquid that was gorgeous, so stocking up while it is still there – they had loads on Thu, but that means nothing at Lidl. Had a lovely bath last night, after about 20 mins realised I had no pain in my knee, it didn’t last unfortunately but was a nice feeling!
Eh up! Been doing more crochet the last couple of days but instead of embroidering the eyes on these last few I'm intending on getting safety eyes in town tomorrow. So I'll have four things to finish off when I get home.

My writing time evaporated as we had two cows calve and I got dispatched on a twenty mile round trip to collect various miscellaneous impedimenta that busy people needed and everybody managed to look busier than me :-)
I had a bad start this morning, full of good ideas I put the butter for the buttercream on the radiator for a couple of minutes to soften. It was only when I wondered why the dog was licking the wall i remembered it. Oops. Anyway I did the big cake, and 4 dozen plus cupcakes. All good and all boxed for tomorrow. The dog was sick while I was icing the big cake. husband couldn’t understand why so I didn’t enlighten him. I’m not that daft. Builder phoned to say he’s coming tomorrow with a cherry picker to finish the chimney. I’m not at all pleased with his timing. I’ve got to much to do tomorrow without making builders tea as well.

Am away on business for a week from tomorrow. Really don't need it right now. I have far too much to do. Oh well, got to earn a living.
Just about finished prep for party. The cherry pickers legs were much too long and wide to get in on our chimney either up our drive or next door’s and wouldn’t reach from the front . I’m not sorry as today was not a good day for having building work done.OH went to fetch the helium balloons. I had visions of him doing a Mary Poppins but alas it was not to be:o)
Was awake with pain at 4.30, so was a bit of a struggle to get up with the alarm and it was very wet and windy, although it did brighten up by 10. Not 100% sure about my new bag, but think I just need to get used to a different style, would have preferred a traditional zip up one, like the small version. Sounds interesting Jim, back to normal this week? Oh dear Lynne – not surprised you didn’t enlighten OH! Hope the builders can figure out an alternative to get the work done. Hope you manage to find some downtime while away to do bits Kelly.

Yesterday I was in Kendal for a Friends of the Lake district conference on transport in the National Park. Which was really interesting and very good. Some excellent speakers.
But I wanted to get there for 8:30am to get to registration before Kendal traffic kicked off.
So I left home at half seven, and the thirty mile trip only took me an hour and ten minutes. At 5pm when the conference finished I had to go to a do in Keswick. Luckily the conference finished a little early so I managed to be through Kendal before 5pm before the traffic kicked off again. Kendal doesn't have vast amounts of traffic but it has a one way system brilliantly designed to feed cars into the cunningly placed pinch points so that you don't need a lot to snarl things up. But I then had to get through Ambleside before 6:30 because they are closing the road to the south of the village between 6:30pm and 1am every night for roadworks. If I missed it I would have had to divert via Kirkstone Pass and Patterdale and it's an extra half hour
Coming home I took the Coniston road out of Ambleside because that one is still open. Arrived home at 11:30pm and up again at 6am :-)
Kind of slept through, not too much pain but still a struggle to get up, I was kind of dazed by the alarm. Had to be up early as I have the doctors after work. Had a funny incident when I got in the car, wish I’d had the sense to take a pic. If you recall, I got the date horrendously wrong when I changed the clock, so this morning the car wished me Happy New Year!! It even had pics of fireworks. Well Jim, to me normal = boring! Some of those comments are very ironic seeing as you were at a conference about transport!
Ironic indeed, given it's CumbriaI did try and work out if the day could be done by public transport, and I could have done the conference, and got to Keswick in time for the meal
But then I would have had a choice of sleeping on Workington or Lancaster railway stations because the trains and buses just stop about 10pm

Eh up! Siling down here. Had to go and stock up on chicken food and bedding and came home via ASDA so we shall all eat tonight. Arrived home just as the postman came with a book I'd bought second hand. I remember reading it yonks ago and it only seems to be available as a pre-owned volume. Pleased with it.

Very windy today, although at least it is dry, we are probably lucky with some of the weather warnings. Car wished me HNY again when I got in the car to come home, managed to get a pic of it this time. Mixed nurse app, my B12 levels have gone up from 250 to 396, so am going to make a telephone app to see if I should stay on the high strength dosage. Asthma review was mixed, my peak flow test is technically in normal range, but they are all reduced from my last one 2 years ago, so got to double my brown inhaler and go back in 6 months. They reduced me from a 100 to a 50, I asked if increasing to a 100 would be better than doubling my 50 and she said not, can’t understand the logic personally! I use a spacer and she told me last night they need replacing every 6 months, which I wasn’t told when I got it 2 years ago, so that might not be helping. Shame you couldn’t have done the whole event with public transport Jim. Nice to hear from you Jud. Glad you can all eat and your book has arrived Kath.

Ha ha Desley, for some reason my car clock is always an hour out. Cos it's an electric thingie I don't know how to change it! So I just have to keep remembering to mentally adjust the time.Blimey, that was some journey, Jim.
Am half-way through my trip, but won't get home until Monday night.

Hallo, I’ve been trying to get back on more often but I’m not a fan of typing lots on my phone and my laptop hasn’t been on much since I finished writing essays! But I have an ipad now that I’ve been using for NaNoWriMo so I might get on more often now.I hope everyone is well and the cold and wet isn’t hitting too hard.
I have subdued one piece of sh*t software and one confused piece of hardware today.I need a nap.

My book’s gone live. It officially launches on Tuesday but I’ve sold the statutory 14 - which I assume is to you lot as my pre-orders always amount to 14 and I always assume it’s the same people. And two on Kobo. Have had a vole in the house, under the fridge. Bless it, I’ve tried and tried to rescue it and I’m afraid I’ve now left it to the cat. I feel terrible.
