Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

Book club tonight, I had hoped to make a cake or some nice buns last night but the kids refused to go to bed so I didn't get a chance, I'll have to nip to the shop for something instead.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Hi, Victoria. We went to Hever Castle, Rochester, Tunbridge Wells, Canterbury, and had a ride on the Kent and East Sussex Railway. On the way back, a couple of hours in Cambridge.
Back down to earth today. Cousins coming for the weekend tomorrow.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Urgh, had a nightmare getting docs to agree to giving me extra meds till rheumatology can see me, luckily he agreed to a telephone consult, although that was also a nightmare as they told me he’d ring at lunch and has been trying since 9.30! Unfortunately I was told last night he wouldn’t give me one of the two as I’ve not had them since 2011, but he told me today he’d done that yesterday, so now I’m going to have to fight with the chemist to get them, as they say you have to wait 5 days!

You are right Alicia, they aren’t supposed to have sweet taste buds, not sure what happened when she was younger, but she eats things normal cats don’t, she also loves Chinese food! We can only assume she wasn’t fed regularly (although that doesn’t explain her being overweight) and has got used to scavenging which has altered her taste buds.

message 12004: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments Overweight might be explained by a cat that wasn't fed regularly - she won't have the confidence that food will be available when she's hungry, so she eats to saturation when she has the chance. Sad, if that's the case.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments It likely is sadly Alicia, she gets very agitated and can be aggressive when she really likes the smell of what you are eating. We have a deal that if she is good, I will save her a bit, it has stopped her drawing blood! Maybe in another 3 years we might stop the agitation.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments McCat has known nothing but love but is the biggest gut bucket ever. Number one love, cheese, number two, evening primrose oil capsules!

Picked up McMini this evening and as we got home he said, ‘Thanks for the ride Big M.’ I’m still laughing.

Cheers

MTM

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Morning all, tried something different with painkillers last night and it didn't go well, at least I know not to do that again! Sun is shining so I want to sit outside reading, but not sure I can spare the time.

That is hilarious MT! I sometimes wonder how McOther feels as McMini definitely has your sense of humour

You covered quite a lot of ground then. Plus two castles and two cathedrals. You'll need to do the coast if you come again. It's lovely in the sunny weather we've been having.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments It has rained here overnight, huge storms forecast but we’ve only had enough to settle the dust and make the leaves all claggy. It’s sunny again. I was half hoping for bad weather then he’ll sit still and watch the rugby. He won’t watch daytime tv if it’s fine though.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Much better night sleep, Lucy disturbed me at 6.15 and then heard heavy rain at 6.45. Suspect we've had such heavy rain that there might be a bit of localised flooding. bit of housework, then packing and getting stuff ready

message 12011: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Yee hah! That's most of the windows done, and we're getting the house back into a bit of order.

Sounds fab, Kath. You never stop! Brilliant.

Desley, it's been raining in Jersey as well.

Right, got a load of work to do so am closing all apps on my laptop, except the ones I need.

Hope you all have a great Sunday.

message 12012: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning each. Been for a little walk round the village. We have a lunch with our cousins booked at the village pub. Yum!

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments I'm in Manchester for work this week and the hotel is BRILLIANT.

There were two complimentary Kitkats in the fridge and everything.

Jim | 21812 comments well and truly landed on your feet there :-)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

Did another half marathon yesterday and it poured twice! I don't mind running in the rain but it made my legs really cold once it stopped so I got really stiff and had to walk for a bit to loosen them up a little. Ah well, bit stiff today but I enjoyed myself.

message 12016: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Catching up on review backlog from my hols. Weather looks grand now but came over very black earlier - I don't trust it!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Never ever trust the weather....

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Last day in work, yay! Although I left my dry eye drops at home, so struggling a bit and eyes are really itchy today! Had a minor panic with kindle this morning, I charged it and downloaded some books last night, went to put my book festival tickets with it this morning and it was dead! Luckily a colleague lent me a charger which fixed it, just glad I looked at it today. Good job I wasn’t travelling today, there was a bomb scare in the airport train station. Practically done, need to do the litter trays tonight so neighbour shouldn’t have to clean them, and can pack some of the last minute things. Annoyingly, I’ve only been able to check in to get there, will have to check in to come home on Sat.

Glad you enjoyed the marathon despite the stiffness Jud.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments There’s a spate of suspect packages here at the moment, two French airports, police stations and the tunnel terminal.
The fog and rain has gone and it’s sunny again. Husband sat still long enough to watch Wales win their match. He’s out with the dog at the moment, I was so impressed with my dog yesterday. He got set upon by a loose Malinois in the woods. Ours was on the lead as it was a hunt day but it came from nowhere and rushed at him from behind. He whipped round and floored it. Literally knocked the wind out of it. No teeth - just feet and weight advantage. The damn thing came back up all teeth and attitude and he thumped it down again. A Lycra clad jogger then appeared and they ran off together towards the hunters.

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Another pair of free Kit Kats!

I love this city.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Urgh, had a rubbish night sleep, typical as I'm travelling today! Need to leave for my first train at 7.15, which I'm not looking forward to as it's likely to be overcrowded and that is the kind of train I fainted on the other year. Think there will be an interesting atmosphere at the airport.

message 12022: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Where are you going Desley? Good job you’re not travelling in France today. Trains and buses are on strike nationally.
Nice sunny morning here - it’s highlighting the dust so I’d better get some cleaning done.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Going to Jersey Lynne, looking forward to seeing Kelly again on Sat. Currently stuck on a train, luckily I don't fly till 11, just set off early in case of delays like this

message 12024: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. Raining and I'm just off for my flu jab. The day should look up after that. Even if it's still raining, I'll be inside, warm, dry and writing. 😊

message 12025: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning!

No work to do and no one from my team in the office, at least I'll get Love in the Time of Cholera finished, only 4 hours to go.

message 12026: by M.T. (last edited Sep 24, 2019 08:30AM) (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Morning all ... just spent the day on Mum admin. I've lied to the Royal Horticultural society, told them I had power of attorney over Mum's finances or they wouldn't let me cancel my brother's RHS membership, which she pays for and he doesn't want. I cold ring them with her tomorrow but I'd much rather chat to her or do something else.

Then it's languages day at McMini's school on Thursday - why did I say I'd help with that? And of course after that it's my bastard Tax return, wading through the full form because you can't do the short one online (drives me crazy).

Meanwhile, Dad's memorial service is looming and I think my brother has organised some of it but none of us know what he's done and now Mum's in a tizzy and gone completely bonkers. She'll calm down but it's a nightmare when she's like this.

All I really want to do is get back into a warehouse full of banned books where a parrot is wreaking havoc and causing a distraction so a bunch of micreants can steal some of them. Much more interesting than Real Life!

Can't wait to get stuck in again on Friday. It's a story for an anthology. The deadline was weeks ago but since it's going so well I thought I might as well write it anyway! I can always use it next year.

Cheers all,

MTM

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Finally got to the airport to find incredibly long queues at security, and they were stricter than Liverpool! Got through with 15 mins till the gate opened. Was on a prop which was a bit painful, vibrations made my ankles hurt. Landed to blue skies which was nice. Got dropped off at my bro's house, walked up to the local Morrisons for lunch and drinks and then decided it was nice enough to sit outside to finish my book. So if you ignore the fact I was eating Morrisons food and drinking decaf tea, it felt like a hol and I have read a whole book.

Sorry you still have no work Jud. Sounds chaotic MT

message 12028: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments It is Desley, glad you made it! It's a bit damp here, stopped raining a while ago but there's nothing dry to sit on.

Cheers

MTM

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Went to bed early last night, so wide awake waiting for them to go to work so I can go down for a cup of tea! Can hear rain, today is supposed to be the best day so going into town to do some shopping and have some lunch.

message 12030: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

Stayed up too late reading last night :o) I do love that, if only I could read my book at my desk.

It's pretty quiet in here at the moment, everyone keeping okay? Is it a start of term slump?

I made marshmallow unicorns with the girls at GB last night and they loved it! They turned out so much better than I thought they would, the Captain took a photo to show the staff at HQ :o)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Well, change of plan, sister-in-law has some unexpected time off so we are going to St Aubins for some luncg and checking out a little boutique I saw yesterday

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Lovely day here, I got smartened up and went to the olive mill for some to take home and a gift for a friend. Got home looked down at my oh so smart outfit and saw something white near my hip. Only the wash label, id been wearing it inside out. He hadn’t noticed either. 😁

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Have had a lovely day, had lunch al fresco again, will post pic later. Have managed to buy 2 c presents as well! Bought a cookie from the garden centre so currently eating that with a cup of tea, waiting for bro and nephew to come home. Feels more like a holiday than normal.

Oh dear Lynne!

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

Another day another load of dollars, not that I've actually been able to access any of my pay yet (my own fault for not getting stuff set up in a timely fashion).

Listening to Schindler's List and it's pretty upsetting. I should have known better than to listen to it, I hated the film. I can't cope with real life atrocities and disasters and tragedies. It's like my brain can't compute that people could do that to other people.

My husband has been severely admonished for, literally, letting me get through church with egg on my face. I would never do that to him - maybe I'm petty.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Well, got a few bargains when I went shopping, but poor nephew had a meltdown over his homework so been a fraught evening! It stayed dry at least.

message 12041: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Howdy, went to London Monday afternoon for a meeting on Tuesday. It overran so I had to change my flight and stay overnight. Grrrr

The weather is funny at the moment - rainy bits, dry bits, and "oh, is that the sun?" bits

Had the afternoon off and went for lunch with my husband and his parents for my mother-in-law's 81st birthday. Lovely day.

Been on the computer all night so def time for bed now. Crazy day at work tomorrow and then all day Saturday at the Jersey Festival of Words, and having a catch-up with Desley. Looking forward to the week-end.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Sun appears to be shining, my bro has the day off so we are going to my favourite garden centre for brunch, going to the cinema to watch It Chapter 2, then nipping into town. Babysitting tonight. Anybody know how long doubling up extra inflams will take to have an effect?

Busy week Kelly, looking forward to catching up tomorrow

My cousin introduced me to a podcast called My Favourite Murder, I'm torn between being disgusted and enthralled. I can't stop listening.

Another day at work on my own with nothing to do. Oh just had a phonecall and I'm getting work emailed too me. Woop!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments We are going out tonight I’m thinking about getting ready what to wear etc. I haven’t got a massive choice but so long as I don’t put anything on inside out again I should be ok if the lighting is subdued 😁 what’s the betting on an agonised squawk about 7 pm telling me his shirt is creased/ he can’t find his belt or where are his shoes,

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Spring tides at Milford and very heavy rain. My daughter is sitting soaked to the skin in her postvan waiting for the RAC as it has broken down. I daren’t tell her it’s lovely and sunny still here. Nice enough to eat outside but I think we’ll be inside, no mossies and my friend is very ‘nesh’

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Well, I didn't really find IT scary and it was only OK. Clearly other people agreed as 3 people walked out. It was uncomfortable between my eye, knee and back, and I'd foolishly not taken painkillers. Bought a top when we went into town. Nephew had another tantrum but fortunately didn't act up too much at bedtime. Unfortunately wet and windy so might have to rethink my outfit. Going to 2 talks at the book festival, then not sure what else we are doing. Looking forward to seeing Kelly and the others
