Eh up! Sunny and delightful here. But then, I always am...Got loads of bitty things to do today so that you don't feel you've made any real progress but they all needed doing.
Lovely weather here today so I’m off to the market. Spare a thought for my Mum’s poor Carer who is walking with her partner from Fairey Pools in Sky to Upper Beeding in Sussex. She left on 1st September and so far there has only been one day when it wasn’t throwing it down with rain! They are having a rest weekend in Glasgow at the moment. I hope the English weather is kinder to them! ;-)Cheers

Quietly. At the end of the session they all said how lovely it was to be able to just read.
I have bought an old whisky barrel lid - oak and is a hefty weight - as I thought I could use it as a “canvas” for painting. The aroma coming off it is WONDERFUL #angelsshareIt’s not yet 8pm and it’s nearly dark! This can’t be right
It's SATURDAY. What the heck were the roofers doing banging just above my head (quite literally) as I tried to take a nap? Can't wait for that - and the decorative trim changes - to be over.On the good side, this facility runs a huge bazaar with all the annual donations from residents - it's known far and wide in the city of Davis - and now that we've been here a year, we knew what we could use - and got a huge lot of furniture and a game our youngest absconded with when we moved (Rummy-Q). That is now over, and we got 95% of what we wanted.
I got an amazing recliner which retails for over $3,000 USD (paid $85), and which reclines in all positions, has heat and massage, and HELPS YOU GET UP. In perfect condition - and everything works.
The foundation benefits, and supports things like residents running out of money through no fault of their own, and help for the staff.
And now that's over, and the roofers almost gone, I got some writing done. Need peace.
Woke up to the sound of rain, although that has stopped now. Didn't get all that much done yesterday, so a bit of housework and Sunday chores today, then going to update my book challenge. Glad the roofer is nearly finished Alicia, and what a bargain on the recliner chair, hope the heat and massage helps you a lot.
Summer is back!!! Hot, hot, hot yesterday, and today is looking set to follow suit. That is some walk, M.T. The weather is all over the place this time of year.
Sounds like you had a successful buying day, Alicia.
That's a good way to spend a Sunday, Desley - catching up and doing all the bits we need to get out of the way.
Lovely weather here, 24 in the shade. We’ve all come inside to cool off. House feels a bit fresher now it’s clean again and windows open. It wasn’t damp but it did smell musty. Mainly his old waxed Mac stinking in the garage, I’ve prised it from his hands and it’s going in the bin.
Self referral for physio done, nice and easy, should hear within 3 days whether they think I need an appointment. Face/eyes have been really twingy today. hope it is just my allergies, even though I have tried bathing my eye. Hope the hospital will suggest something and not go 'well, that isn't iritis, and that is what you are here for'.
What a weekend, had the funeral yesterday. Managed not to cry until the service started, I made the mistake of looking at the photo on the front of the order of service. There are so many things I wish I had spoken to her about, she would have been an amazing confidant but it's probably just hindsight and nostalgia saying that. In reality it probably would have been awkward confiding in her when she was best mates with my mum.I still can't believe I won't see her anymore, I just took it for granted she would always be there so I never really took time to speak to her beyond "how do you do". I'm determined not to make the mistake again.
Spent the day with Kitty, Nathan decided he would go home with NAna and Papa after church so they took him to see my grandmother and I tok Kitty into town to spend some of her birthday money. We loved it :o)
I think I'm having a pre-midlife crisis. PRosecco doesn't help.
I never found that prosecco or equivalent ever helped, what did help was spending time with the children
Will post properly later, just arrived for my first aid refresher, dreading it as my knee is really bad, anti inflam hasn't helped the drive here.
Lovely and warm here again this morning. Amazing piece of parking across the road from us. It will cost whoever it was as they’ve parked right across the top of the steps leading to the crossing for the school. The guard has left them a penalty to pay. They also blocked my neighbours car and we can’t get into our garage, bravo twerp!
It's been raining here, just stopped but the director's chair I left outside last night is still a bit damp.Cheers

First aid course was a laugh, ended up with someone I knew, we have now done 3 courses together, although she thinks it will be her last, she also has a dodgy knee, but luckily hers is her left! I think we have caused a bit of chaos though, and unfortunately have a different trainer tomorrow. Knee improved, but eye was bad, thought I'd left the dry eye drops at home till I got home and found them in the bag I'd left in the car! Got a vet visit soon. Glad you had some good time with Kitty Jud, more beneficial than Prosecco

Evenin' all. Grey skies here today, and quite muggy. Rest of the week supposed to be better. Wish people would take their eyes off their phones when they're out in the street and look where they're going!
Of all the places I visit London is the worst for that, I regularly get walked into or almost walked intoAnd small people should not be allowed umbrellas unless they promise to walk straight backed and look forward!
Morning all. Wonderfully bright moon last night lighting up the house through the skylight, although it was full on Friday.I had an umbrella knocked out of my hands by a (surprise surprise) white van passing me at speed down one of the narrower roads in the town. I suppose I'm lucky it didn't break my arm. To be fair it was a golf umbrella and a very narrow pavement, but...
tough times, Jud. take care. xAutumn has returned to the Channel Islands.
Have deadlines to meet and lots to do. Now off to the day job. See you at the other end.
MorningI apologize to all my fellow humans, I am that short person who walks with an umbrella tilted forwards so I can't see who or what is coming up ahead of me :o) Sorry Jim. In my defense, our streets aren't very busy. Gareth usually carries the umbrella anyway because when I carry it it always ends up resting on the top of his head. I do prefer a hood.
Umbrellas are no good in West Wales. It’s so windy the rain comes underneath. I’ve even bought one with holes in for the wind to escape. My husband thinks I’m crackers buying an umbrella with holes but it’s lasted longer than all the others. It does have an extra layer of material to cover the holes. I need a sunshade here it’s glorious again. It reached 26° yesterday in the shade. OH is sanding the garage door so he can paint it before the sun reaches the front of the house. He’s really enjoying his ‘holiday ‘ 😀.
Fuel prices here went up with a thump yesterday. OH paid 6 centimes a litre more than last week. My mum always used to say a penny on petrol and everything else goes up. She wasn’t wrong.
Lynne's missing out on Wales basking under a warm sun.I'll have to venture out later, far too nice to sit inside and work
Morning all. Nice and sunny.I prefer a hoodie to a brolly too. It's nearly always too windy for a brolly, and if you've got brolly and shopping bag you don't have a hand free for anything else.
Arachnophobes look away now -
Spent a bit of time yesterday evening pursuing an enormous black spider around my front room carpet. They do move fast! Managed to trap it and evict it out the front door. It probably came straight back in via the air brick, but as long as it stays out of sight I don't mind.
We usually get plagued with spiders at this time of year, there have only been a couple so far. Instead we've been having night time visitors of the slimy kind, slugs keep appearing in the doorway between our living room and kitchen. Always in the same place. Gareth thinks there might be a gap between the wall and the floor where the conservatory joins on to the living room so they must be getting in through there. Gross. He's stuffed kitchen roll under the skirting board so hopefully that'll do the trick for now
Yes, autumn is the time for them. I don't usually mind them, but this one was so big and black it gave me quite a fright when I first caught sight of it scuttling across the carpet. My neighbour once told me they had slugs getting into their living room, she thought via the air brick. She used to come down in the morning and find their slimy trails on the carpet.
Steel wool is supposed to be the thing to block up gaps to stop unwanted visitors.
Conkers keep spiders away. Place them around the perimeters of the room. Don’t know why, but it seems to work
Yay, passed my first aid course, although I did choose a couple of wrong answers on the written assessment and had a laughing fit at my partner during my CPR assessment, so wasn't sure I would! We had a riot again today, even with a different trainer. Best course I've done in a long while, not sure you are supposed to laugh so much on a first aid though. Hope I'm not going to be going to work to too much of a backlog, as I'm only in half a day tomorrow, and I have two meetings! Eye check up, but it has been bothering me again even though I've used the dry eye drops, so not 100% convinced it will be clear.
I picked up a handful of conkers from the boules court this morning to keep spiders away. I used to put them high up or my old spaniel would find them and walk round with them in her flews, not eating*them just stuffing her face like a hamster. I don’t know whether the Dobe would eat them or not yet. He’s taken his ball upstairs and thrown it off the balcony so he might do the same with conkers.
I’m in trouble. I genuinely thought the paint he’d bought was undercoat as it looks nothing like the rest of the painted woodwork, he’s adamant it’s Olive Green but it’s so pale it’s awful. My neighbour opposite asked him if he was going to do all the rest to match. I couldn’t keep a straight face. He’s just told me if I want it different I can do it myself. Oops.

I must get the kids hunting for conkers
I'm in a book group on Facebook and someone just recommended My Granny Writes Erotica! I am like "oh, oh, oh! I know her! I KNOW HER!" :o)
There’s so many conkers here, one year the kids filled the telephone kiosk with them, it was about 3 feet deep in conkers. I thought about that this morning but noticed they’ve taken the kiosk away. I suppose it wasn’t hardly used these days I feel a bit mean as he’s gone off to get more paint. That tin cost about £60. So he’s not a happy man. He’s locked the garage inside in case the dog gets out of the wet doors and everything I need to do has to be got from the locked side. So I’m stuffed. Can’t iron can’t vaccuum can’t even turn the washing machine on so I’ll just have to sit and read, it’s a hard life😀
Will post properly tomorrow but my eyes are clear and pressure is normal! Still on the other drops unfortunately

Here, who bothers with an umbrella when the rain normally come sideways :-)
We’ve got lovely painted garage doors 4 coats of paint, 2 ‘shite by moonlight’ and 2 ‘olive green’ He couldn’t sit still after getting the new paint so he finished about 8 pm. He just can’t leave a job till next day. He said it was due to rain but it’s cloudy that’s all. It’s very stuffy - it’s extremely dry here. The dog is in trouble. He was last seen doing circuits round the table with his ‘guilty walk’. He only had somebody’s new wallet complete with all his credit cards and cash. He’s not destructive just a thief. Makes me laugh until he goes for my stuff in my handbag.
Ha!! Oscar used to go into my handbag and steal chocolate bars. He nicked half a chocolate brownie once, best chocolate brownie ever and he ate it. I'm still mad, 5 years later.
Morning :o)
To coffee or not to coffee? There is no question.
Will probably have to post about everything at the weekend, as I have loads to do, but in the past couple of days I’ve had the telephone consult with the GP, had my eye check up, spoke to the rheumatology nurse and rang docs back to request meds suggested. So despite still having 3 eye drops and suggestions of increasing nasal spray, painkillers and anti-inflams, I feel much more positive than I did last week. Need to start getting sorted for going away next week. Oh dear Lynne! I have to watch if I’ve bought muffins etc, Lucy will steal them out of my handbag and tear the wrapping to get to them! Or jump on the work top to steal them, I have to hide anything sweet, even scones and hot cross buns. The worst I think was when I first got her, my friend had given me some home made Christmas cake wrapped in tin foil, which I innocently left on the sofa while I nipped to the loo – she had torn the tin foil to get to the cake, she isn’t fussy with Christmas cake, she also likes Italian and German.

Can't be good for them - they're carnivores. Maybe she sees what you eat and wants it.
Hey! Just back from a five day coach tour of Kent. Totally new area for us both. Shattered! Sign of a good holiday.
We had an enormous clap of thunder and a huge zap of lightning at lunchtime. We were in full sun but it was black over the hills. I nearly fell off my chair and my neighbour jumped so hard she threw her coffee up in the air.Did anyone see the reports of the climate activists at the refinery in Pembrokeshire. Made the national news.

Or are there less expensive places to get the same brand?"
It is easier for my neighbour to buy in bulk as she has 5 cats, but we tend to constantly check for the best deals and get more so we never pay full price! I did kind of mess up with mine, I wasn't expecting to buy, so didn't get the variety I would if I had been expecting to buy food.
