Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Desley - you only really need to see the first one, confusingly titled "Episode IV - A New Hope". Everything after that - and before it - is an attempt to remake a bigger and better version of Episode IV.

Mind you, I am only grumpy because the BBITW is going to see it first with his friends and not with me. They do grow up fast, don't they?

Next he'll be wanting to go to Tosche Station to pick up some power converters, which we all know means he wants to hang out with his friends.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I have no idea what you're talking about with that last statement, Will.

Went to 'get a few things'. Spent a hundred and fifty f-ing pounds!

I'm not shopping again this holiday.

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Glad you're back safe Patti.

Had my first shift as a driver for the local blood bikes last night (car, not bike!!). Really enjoyed it :)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Just woke up.

I hope I sleep tonight.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Your sleep patterns are as weird as mine at the moment!

I went to sleep soon after midnight. Woke up around 4:20. Wide awake for the rest of the night. Got up at nine, had breakfast etc. Had a snooze at 12 until 2:30. Feeling fine now.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments That's a no spoilers from me too. I so want to go and see the new starwars but McMini gets very scared in the cinema (doesn't like the dark or anything that's loud enough to make him feel his insides vibrate) and so it will be a while before McOther and I can slip away and watch it on our own.

Cheers

MTM

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Well, it took a while, but I've put the Christmas decorations up, I'll post a pic so you know why it took me so long ;) wrapped some presents, cheated and used gift bags for 4 to avoid wrapping them - I'm still on the same roll of paper that I started wrapping milk bottles with!

message 1158: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Still haven't put mine up, Desley. I'm an old-fashioned gel, though, and mine are still growing. Lots of greenery and berries will follow me in tomorrow.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Don't know if I'll bother with decorating this year. Might get a small real tree if I see one.

A bonsai one?

message 1161: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Why not.

I did get a nice festive bunch of flowers this afternoon.

Gave up the cinema when 3 hour films with no interval made me think I was suffering from DVT the whole of the next day! The last one I saw was the explanation of Darth Vader's being. Episode 1?

message 1163: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yeah, gotta say I much prefer watching a film in the privacy of my home, where I can pause it when I need a wee.

Or more wine.

Usually more wine...

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments The test of a good film is whether the wine enjoyably consumed still allows you to get to the end without sending up ZZZZs...

message 1167: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments I don't often watch films at home, cos when I crash on the couch I usually see the start and wake up in time for the end credits - and that's just a 45 minute TV show. I have no hope of staying awake for a 100+ minute film!

Looks like we cross posted last night, Lynne.

No wonder you were fucking furious.
I hope the pup is okay!

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Good morning all. Nothing much to report.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning. Woke up full of cold, my cup of joy runneth over. Daughter fast asleep still when I got there with 10 minutes to get ready. I'm very close to a full volcano explosion. Snafu.

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 6903 comments Good morning all.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Morning all, had a rubbish night sleep. Only 4 days left in work.

Sorry things aren't getting better Lynne

message 1176: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning each! Happy Christmas to you too, Pat! And everyone else, of course. Tree day today.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Interesting weekend preparing and manning a stall at a Christmas fair. Not a bad turnout. The footfall was good, but most people seemed to have come just to browse, having already finished their Christmas shopping. Still, we sold a few of Bec's pendants, so she was chuffed with that.

Foggy start to the day here and I'm on exam duty, so at least it ought to be a quiet one.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Not in Wales, it doesn't.

Our washing machine died. Mid-cycle, just nothing. Checked the power, fuse in the plug, all fine.

No idea.

Thankfully, Currys is going to deliver and install a new one tomorrow.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Lucy didn’t want to go out, so hadn’t noticed how frosty it was, so hadn’t set off earlier to defrost the car – while I’d put my windscreen cover on, opening the door to get the scraper had made the inside mist up!! Set off to realise the annoying squeal had disappeared, so was pleased, got a fraction of the way to work when the petrol light changed from miles to a dashed line, at which point I realised I hadn’t put my purse back in my bag!! Luckily it was the last point where I can easily turn around, so did, as the traffic was horrendous so didn’t want to risk it. Skidded on a patch of ice round the corner from my house, luckily got control and didn’t hit the transit van. The squeal came back though, so after putting some petrol in, I rang the garage, they are going to look at it at lunch for me. Then nearly skidded on another patch of ice, so I wasn’t in the slightest bit bothered by being 15 mins late, I was just glad I got there in one piece!! Then discovered we had a deadline this morning that my colleague was struggling to do, so had to sort that out before I could take my coat off and make a cup of tea. Now really foggy as I have to go to the garage!!

Glad you have been able to get a new washer so quickly Patti.

Lisa Marie Gabriel (lisamariegabriel) | 1066 comments Just popping in to say hello. I won't stop too long though, the sun will soon be on its way down and it's quite chilly in the log cabin despite my thick Canadian jumper and fingerless gloves. I'm starting to understand what Bob Crachit had to go through. Ah! But it's worth it to escape from Feline Aggravated Writer's Block for a time.

Are you all ready for Christmas? We wrote Christmas cards yesterday; there's still some to do I am sure, but today I am starting to think of Christmas pudding and where I can get a vegetarian grain free recipe. Could that be fruit soaked in brandy? Sounds good to me. I will be back to catch up again later and in the meantime hugs all round for those that need them.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Dave is carving the two kilo pork roast I cooked this afternoon. It's been in the freezer for yonks, as I bought it meaning to take it to Baku.
I'll freeze most of it in ready meal size portions, now it's cooked.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Send me over some. Yum!!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments No thanks Patti. Garage think it's my fan belt, they've tightened it for now and have booked it in for the 2nd Jan. Really foggy here too, daft neighbour has gone to B and M. Got my hamper from work, a lot being donated as it isn't vegi

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Gah, there are days in this job where your first call of the day sets up the theme. Today was one of those! And not a nice one. Don't want another one like that any time soon.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Hugs Claire, hope you don't have another day like that soon

message 1193: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Sorry to hear it, Claire.

Dave's mum went into hospital with an infection yesterday, so he'll drive up today. Guess I'll have to deal with the washing machine delivery myself.

I ordered something on Sunday and paid extra for next day delivery but it didn't come.
Can I claim back the delivery charge? How?

message 1194: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Just did my ASDA order.

No problem with delivery slot. Tomorrow was wide open.

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 6903 comments Good morning.

The fog appears to have gone, around my house at least.

Now, if I can just get those pesky kids sorted for the last day of school then things will be fine.

Six days to Crimbo and I'm maybe 10% ready.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Morning, slept through but don't feel better. Got to take Lucy for her next test, won't rest till I get the results. Feel like I'm starting with a cold sore.

Hope Dave's mum is OK Patti. Should be a way of getting costs back

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Dark start to the day today, but at least it's not raining. I suppose, being close to the shortest day of the year, it's fairly typical, but I don't half look forward to the light coming back! Mixed bag of lessons today and only tomorrow to go. With any luck, I might actually have time to wrap some prezzies while Mrs Gaff's out at work ... we shall see.

message 1198: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Beautiful blue sky day again here.

I hope the parcel and the washing machine both arrive soon, so I can settle.

The ever so short days here are horrible. Seems like the sun was up for 20 minutes yesterday.
