The way I found to stop being bored by watching TV Desley was to stop watching it ;)

Ah, but I want to watch TV!

I haven't had a telly for a few months. Haven't really missed it, but I expect I'll get a new one at some point.

Found out this morning that one of my parent's best friends is possibly dying, she was taken to Newcastle for an emergency heart transplant but is now too weak to have surgery. Irony is her husband is a cardiologist. Life sucks. She has had cancer twice and mum said they reckon it was the second lot of treatment that weakened her heart. It's so unfair. I'm sitting in work with watery eyes trying not to greet so I'm going to stop talking about it.
I hope the anti histamine drops help your eyes Desley

So sorry to hear that Jud.

Got a meeting in 7 minutes, better check if there is anything I need to do before it starts.

Will, I certainly agree with you. I lost my mum at 14 and dad at 23.
Sorry I've not been on here much. I have deadlines coming out my ears, and we are having loads of work done at home, which distracts me and the mess jangles my brain. New windows, roof painted, gutters, marley board cladding, rendered, new doors, new balcony glass, blah, blah, blah. Been going on since June!
House is a tip, with furniture piled everywhere. Figure it will take another 2 months or so!

Meeting I thought was yesterday is actually today, at least I was early and didn't miss it.
I just saw this on Amazon, has anyone else heard of it? https://www.amazon.co.uk/b/ref=s9_acs...

PS I cannot remember why I thought that, or whether it was correct

The down side of being an author! I just thought I'd have seen something in this group about it. But then I didn't look in to it at all, I just saw the headline and it caught my attention

Yes, I've seen it but far too late to get anything ready for it. If you're interested, diarise it for next year?

Getting decidedly autumnal. I do like the change in seasons. Mind you, our boiler broke in March and we haven't fixed it yet as, long story, we need to raise the floor in the basement boiler room. That's the next job on the list so we can have some heating.

My new after school activity starts today. 'Reading for Pleasure'
45 minutes watching kids with their noses' stuck in books.
Gonna be brilliant.

do you take your own book to show them how it's done? ;-)

House was fine, it’s got a big crack outside near the roof from the dryness so might have to have some work done, it smelt very musty from being shut all summer but I’ve cleaned non stop yesterday and we can relax today. Man and dog are out walking in the sunshine. I’m on holiday. Yippeeeeeee!

Got my spare kindle on my desk. Of course I'll be modeling the expected behaviour. ;)

That's very clever Patti, start a club doing the thing that you most want to do yourself!
Got the dentist today then visiting my mum's best friend's family. She died on Monday morning after I posted about her. Not a fun day ahead.

I hope you can bring peace to the bereaved.

So sorry to hear. Hard for the family, hard for you.

Good luck getting heating sorted Kelly. Sounds lovely Patti, me and a friend joke about opening a café/bookshop, but we think we'd eat and read too much to make any money. Enjoy your holiday Lynne. Sorry about your mums' best friend Jud.

Shizz sorry to hear that Jud. If it's any consolation, one of my ex colleagues died of cancer last week. She was younger than me. Properly sucky. People seem to be going down like flies at the moment.
Hope everyone else is well, sorry things are a bit hectic so I haven't been around.
Morning all!

Blimey Desley, hope you get more sleep tonight.

The 'readers play a significant part' bit is just a way of saying, this is a competition to see which author has the biggest social media following, and the one who does will get the most votes and win.
Not that I'm cynical.

From the organiser's point of view, they're cheap to organise, the authors do the work and the organisers are spared the toil of reading all those books
Like Mary I remain unsullied by cynicism

How did the class reading go?

it's all getting a bit much
I hope somebody comes up with some answers for you soon

Morning all. Another fine day in prospect. Final days at my beach hut studio for this summer, then I'll be gone like the swallows...

Cheers

Well that's disappointing.
Morning
Came in to an email titled IMMEDIATE ATTENTION NEEDED, one summary document had the wrong information copied in it so I just pasted in the correct info and job done. Doesn't seem worth the sense of urgency to me.
Ugh, at least I now have my business bank details so I can actually make use of my pay!

Off out at lunchtime to meet old friends from work and get our hair trimmed at the same time.

Not sure the cats would affect my joints R, but I have wondered if they are cause of the eyes, although if that’s the case I’ll just have to have them for life, can’t get rid of the cats, although the timing doesn’t really work, I’ve not had any new cats in the house for nearly 2 years now, and even though the girls have access to nearly all the house now, they have had that since March. That is a sobering thought MT. It certainly is Jim, but I’m feeling more positive about it today.

seriously that thought occurred to me as well :-(
Enjoy your beach hut
I confess to being envious, I wish there was a writer's equivalent :-(

Cynical, us?
I once apologised for my cynicism saying that is was an industrial disease in agriculture.
The person merely commented that it wasn't a disease, it was the entry qualification

Or are there less expensive places to get the same brand?

Going into town to get my hair done and then just getting on with all the stuff I need to be getting on with.
Happy Saturday!

Typically she has been fine since Alicia, but at least now we have a years worth of meds for her. It is irritating when people move things, suspect a colleague thought hiding it would be a fun thing to do.
