Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Oops. I was only joking about losing him Jim, I love taking him to see things. That adventure park we went to is really good fun for kids. It’s a bit nerve wracking for me though as they disappear into the nooks and climbing frames in the indoor play area only to come down a Shute or big slide like corks out of bottles. Harry was dripping wet with racing about - my OH intends to take him to see a steam train.
It’s nice enough to eat out here too, but someone’s bees have taken over our bird bath on the patio. There’s a lot of them. The birds now have an upturned dustbin lid as they won’t come near the bees.
They’ve not been aggressive and now my Daisy isn’t here (she was severely allergic) I’m not worried but I’ve had to be careful with the little lad’s paddling pool.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Been my idea of a nice day today, lots of house stuff sorted early enough to sit and enjoy the sun, although it was very warm and I had to come in quite frequently. Neighbour sent me to co-op (why not, only local shop I've not been to this weekend) as she wanted to make a quiche - compromise was that I got some quiche! So don't have to think about tea either. Am waiting for it to cool down enough to make the bed, might have to do a half hearted job and finish it in the morning, apparently it is still 27!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Not up quite as early this morning, although do feel like I may need a nap in a bit. Must have laid funny, as my left hand was dead when I woke up. Disappointed to see a cloudy sky. Not much in the house left to do, plan was to cut the weeds back and sit outside reading, so am hoping the weather improves. Don't know if neighbour will want to go anywhere.

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 6903 comments Hiding away from the heat. Don't want to complain about it, so I won't, but I think it's the heat what done for my fridge freezer. Have to survive a whole week without it till the new one arrives.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

We've had a great weekend.

I love little kid's enthusiasm too, I used to marvel at how delighted Kitty was just to be going somewhere and able to run her way (in between stops to examine every little thing, of course!). Nathan is train on the brain and planes too, we've taken him a couple of times to see a steam train but he prefers the station in Belfast where there are trains and buses coming and going all the time. We took the train on Saturday just to the station and then home again.

Had a sports massage last night on my legs, it was unbelievable how many knots I had, I didn't know you could get knots in your legs. Will have to get out for a run and see if it has made a difference.

I didn't think bees would be so keen on a body of water, I went out to our garden one evening in July to find a swarm of bees taking refuge under the kids slide! A friend came and whisked them away to a new hive, not sure if they lasted but at least we tried. They were talking about getting a new queen bee for it.

I'll stop prattling on now, I hope you got a good sleep Desley and the pain eases.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments G'day! Been out to buy seed for our cockatiel and now back in harness. Sunny again and beautifully warm. Sadly, I think we're doomed later in the week. Yes, cheerful is(n't) my middle name!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Had an awful morning, woke up at 4 with what I was hoping was a headache, as it was over my bad eye, was still there when I got up at 6.30. Then knee was so painful I struggled to get in the shower, and had to wash my hair very quickly as standing was painful. Then felt so sick by the time I got to work that I couldn’t face eating to take my anti-inflam till about 9.30, luckily I can take painkillers on an empty stomach. Weather forecast better than expected, although might rain this afternoon, so brought my coat in case.

Hope the sports massage helped Jud.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments You do seem to be having a torrid time recently, Desley. Hope things can improve for you.

Today, it should have been raining. I think that the amount of swearing I've done at this computer bookkeeping package has frightened that away, as well

message 11812: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Don’t count your chicken re rain Will, it’s been really lovely but now looks quite grey in the West. The bees we’ve got aren’t a swarm just thirsty singles but there’s about 50 of them at any one time. The beekeeper on the allotments near us said there are 15 beekeepers within a mile now, that sounds a lot considèring how many gardens have been patio’d, decked, hot tubbed, concreted for extra car parking spaces. It’s only the old people on our road who have flowers now.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments It was another super day here, heavy rain eventually arrived about an hour ago. Now we have rainbows :)

In other news, it was so still last night we could hear the firework display at the Castle to mark the end of the Edinburgh festival (25 miles away). Safe to go back into the city again! Someone was joking that if they'd started filming the new Fast & Furious film last week rather than next, they would have had to call it just "Furious". The city centre traffic gridlocks during August have been epic.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Locals were saying that we had a lot more visitors than usual here too. Some popular spots were jammed solid with cars badly parked so the shuttle bus got stuck.
One of the associated rip off sites I bought a ‘linen’ top from is advertising on the group page. I ‘ve been notified by Pay pal they found in my favour so I will get my money back. Check Trust Pilot for reviews if you’re buying online. I wish I had done it. I’ve found out theses sites don’t even own the photos of the garments. They too are copied.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

Someone ratted me out for playing games on my phone in work to the manager in America (fair enough really, I knew I would only get away with it for a limited time). I'll have to find something else to do in between tasks, I asked for work yesterday and got nothing so I read on kindle cloud. Have a few things to do today at least.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Slightly better today, although went to bed about 8.30 cos was drained but still awake at 11.30! Then heard cats fighting at midnight. Partly cos it was very stuffy last night. Had a few mins of rain when I was driving home, and heard rain when trying to sleep. Started just as I was getting in the car, and not convinced it has stopped yet. Eye very twingy today. Food shopping after work, and getting my own membership card to the discount shop we go to, so will be able to go on my own after tonight, might start going on a Fri again.

Sorry you still aren't getting a lot of work Jud, is this the temp job? Thanks Will, does feel never ending at the mo! Maybe I need to take my neighbours advice and increase my meds rather than trying to manage on the bare minimum

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I think the farmer on the west side is spreading henny penny today - I went out and left the windows open and that was a mistake. Someone locally decided a farmer was spreading human excrement on his fields one year. FB went into meltdown. I have no idea why they decided he was doing that, lol.

Lol, it certainly did, but (and this is not my particular area of expertise, lol) I believe it became illegal a very long time ago when people discovered it spread some rather nasty diseases. At any rate, I think they may be allowed to now but only if the aforesaid waste has been treated. Certainly, the debate went on for a very long time on Facebook. A lot of screaming went on, especially at the poor farmer, who I'm pretty sure was innocent of the offence.
Yup, there was definitely a nip in that breeze earlier, although I'm hoping it might warm up enough to sit in the garden later. It's certainly sunny enough. Cloudless blue skies here.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Smoke alarm went off again while I was washing my hair – odd, as it’s the second time this week I’ve washed my hair, it didn’t do it on Tue! Luckily I was better prepared this time, although jumping in and out of the shower aggravated both my knee and sciatica. Eye still a bit twingy, but fairly sure it is my allergies rather than iritis. Glad it is a short week, rather drained again today, am contemplating a day of taking more painkillers and seeing if it helps.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I’ve got to change the batteries in our smoke detector - it keeps going off when anything steams. I hardboiled some eggs and it started. I’m not that bad a cook that I burn hardboiled eggs.
Had my haircut this morning - no colour again, it’s quite a nice colour now naturally but I do keep catching sight of myself in a mirror and wonder who the heck is that. I haven’t seen my sister for a while and I haven’t sent any photos, I don’t think she’ll recognise me.

WHAAAAT!! Farmers actually put human poo on their fields? No wonder it can stink to high heaven.

Morning

Kitty started school yesterday, I didn't cry. She was so excited :o) She is at the same table as two of her pals from nursery and one of her boyfriends (although she assures me she isn't going to marry this one). I wouldn't mind if she did, his parents are lovely.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning!

Day started off well when I managed to superglue my thumb to a wooden painting block that had a loose corner of veneer.
Painting will now contain a small part of my DNA in the form of skin :D

Ridiculously windy here again

what do you think happens to it? :-)

Seriously, applied to land it's fertiliser
Dumped in the sea as it used to be its a major pollution source
burned it just adds to global warming if only indirectly because then we have to mine and manufacture more fertiliser

Thus art historians in some future age will be able to prove it was you who painted it, and was not merely 'in the style of' :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Well, got home last night to another appointment letter, for an ultrasound on my bad foot! Wasn’t expecting one, but am glad. Not at my local hospital though, so need to ring and see if they can do it a bit later, to make it more convenient for work. Bad eye is a bit swollen today, thought that as the weather was cooling off I’d be getting better, but seems to be never ending. Need to do petrol and food shopping on the way home. At least the cleaner is coming today.

Glad the computer was nothing too serious Alicia. Glad Kitty was excited at starting school, that seems very early!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Had to pop to the retail park after work for my neighbour, ended up getting a new bath mat, which I had been looking for, and found some cat food on offer. Found some tramadol in the cupboard, so took one last night, had a very disturbed night sleep, but did feel human at 7, although now feeling sleepy again, so might go to bed after my drink. Luckily not much to do, although need to sort the car boot out in between the rain!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Better night sleep, tried a different way of taking painkillers. Got pins and needles in my hand again, must mention that when I go for my checkup. Usual Sunday chores and doing some work on my book challenge, nothing else planned. Hope neighbour suggests doing something, not good at a whole weekend with no plans (unless it is sitting in the sun reading!). Currently raining

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I love the smell of deleted threads in the morning :)

Sunny here, not quite as windy as yesterday (the raft race was cancelled due to 50mph gusts)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Lovely morning here. We are gearing up for going away so it’s freezer rubble on the menu all week. Only the dog gets fresh supplies as usual. Car service /tax and insurance to sort so my piggy bank is empty before we go away. Last day of freedom with the little lad tomorrow. Hs coming with me to the garage then we ‘ll come home in the bus as a treat for him. It’s no treat for me though I usually feel quite travel sick on the bus. 😁

Glad you got better sleep; by coincidence, so did I. Being well rested can be very close to happiness.

Watch the pins and needles for progression - there are some things that can cause it that you would want looked at. But sometimes mine just come from sleeping with a wrist or ankle in a funny position.

What is this sleep you speak of?

It was Kitty's birthday yesterday so we had a house full. She is having another party on Saturday for her school pals.

In work with things to do (for a change) but I am a bit stuck and there is no one here to ask for help. Oh my rip I need a new career

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Had some brief excitement over the weekend as Cwmtydu Seal Watch volunteers suddenly went live with a seal pup on the beach we patrol. Sadly stood down after 12 hours as it transpired the seal was without parents and it had to be rescued. Sent off to Milford Haven for bottle feeding. The videos are so cute, but sadly I can't share them. Early for pupping though.

message 11847: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments That’s seal centre is near me, Will. Roger often sees seals at Martins haven from the cliff tops. Seal pups are often left on secluded beaches on their own. The tides were very high this weekend so it could have been washed up too far. They look very vulnerable don’t they.
Dropped the car off. Forgot it was Mot time but the garage had a note of it. Hope it passes without any problems.

message 11848: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Seal pups are quite happy normally for the parents to skoot off, but this one was in some distress. Probably separated from mum by the weather conditions, as you say. Transferred this morning to Martin's Haven though, so must be doing OK. Cwmtydu beach is a regular pupping ground, even though it isn't what you would call secluded, which is why Seal Watch runs a volunteer program through the pupping season.

Mostly to advise idiots to keep away from the pup, as having a 300lb bull seal explode from the surf and savage you (or your dog) could spoil your day. We will be delighted if the pupping season is early this year, as our annual trip over to Donna Nook might be a bit warmer if it's in October rather than November

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Good eye is very twingy today, not sure why, although both look quite swollen today. Shut the bathroom door this morning to wash my hair, didn’t want to risk setting the smoke alarm off again! Builder is hoping to come one night this week. Quite cold today, and typically the heating at work didn’t come on, in fact, I was debating putting the heating on for half an hour last night, but went to bed early instead.

Yes, it is amazing what a better night sleep does for you Alicia! Will keep an eye on the pins and needles, only seems to happen when I sleep through and stops after I’ve been up a bit. Hope the move goes smoothly Patti. Glad Kitty’s birthday went well Jud, brave of you to have two birthday parties! Sorry that you are struggling in work. Aww, do hope seal pup makes it. Hope the car passes Lynne.
