Don't know what the pass mark is

When your mind starts to fail, and you can't pass the test any more, you are relieved of the responsibility of voting.
That would work on so many levels.

then they ought to make damned sure the questions are sensible
How does knowing how many member states the commonwealth has make you British? It's not as if the number doesn't change
Then we get "How many AMs does the Welsh government have?"
Assuming you know what an AM is (why not just say Assembly member) do they mean the number of members in the assembly or the number who support the Welsh government
Then it asks "What yearly event happens between Oxford and Cambridge Universities?"
Offering you rowing, soccer, tennis and basketball
There is an annual rowing race, but actually he Varsity Football Match between the University football clubs of Cambridge and Oxford is one of the oldest ongoing fixtures in world football.
(There's also an annual varsity tennis match as well)
Then you get "How many colonies were granted independence in 1947?" Frankly I haven't a clue, I certainly wasn't taught that at school (apparently 9)
As for "What tools did the Bronze age people introduce?" two of the choices are actually correct, They did introduce ornaments and weapons (but not the concepts, only new ones in Bronze) but also they did introduce new farming techniques (whether that is good enough to count as farming machinery I don't know)
So if the Manchester evening news citizen test is genuine, and it cost me my vote, I'd sue.

But isn't this the test you have to pass to become a citizen?
Okay: start a list of what every new British citizen needs to know:

Well I’m ok on one site with a few lucky guesses but if I took another sample - I’ll get me coat! What a lot of stupid questions. There’s not a tick box for “Whatever ‘.
I’ve got a small disciple for Patty. I made the builders some bacon rolls yesterday and little grandson who has an aversion to trying new foods actually asked for some bacon. He had 2 rashers with his lunch, demanded seconds which I gave him. Demanded another 2 rashers but I refused I said we’d eaten it all.
This morning on getting to his house he wanted me to go to Lidl and get bacon. No hello Grams, no good morning, just “I want bacon” If he says please he may be lucky.

Bacon. Lovely. Only have it once a week though.
It's warmer today. I put a fleece on to walk to the little shop in the village and I had a fug on when I got back. Nice to have the warmth back. Might read in the garden this afternoon if it continues.

The problem is that being a British Citizen isn't like that.
There isn't actually a lot you need to know. A bit about parliament and your MP perhaps
It would be useful to have something about how your local authority works and interacts with other levels of government but actually that differs so much depending on where in England you live, never mind the rest of the UK
But for somebody coming here the most important thing is actually to be able to speak, read and write good English.

Looking at some of those, I’d fail the citizenship test. Not sure what relevance they have though. Sounds a good plan though Alicia. That's funny Lynne!

Got given some proper work to do yesterday and not sure that I did it correctly, it was quite confusing and I don't understand what it all relates to so that made it harder to understand.
I think I'd fail the citizenship test too.

Hope you did do the work properly Jud! Hope the weather improves for you Lynne

Intermittent rainshowers here are horrendous

I have the best set in the world to watch them from, but it's getting boring to listen to them all day every day, and hard to write with the noise.
Paradise needs its roof repaired.

our intermittent rainshowers have ganged up on us to become constant rain

Gotta say its nice having the waste of space head gone. we're finally getting some proper systems in place.
Meet the Teacher tomorrow afternoon. way too soon, in my opinion.
Still, it means its over and done with.
Manky weather here. pissing down, humid and HOT.

Still working on this spreadsheet, it's not so much the data now as having a war with Excel itself. I can't get it to do what I want it to.
Good luck to child number 1, Darren

Stocking up the larder this morning. Flower arranging this aft.

Woohoo!

Hope you get to grips with Excel Jud. Hope the workers finish soon Alicia so you can concentrate again. Hope the new systems help a lot Patti. Congrats to child 1 Darren. Hope little boy is brave enough to try ice cream Lynne! Bless him for being excited about bacon!

Well done Darren’s lad, is he really the age for 6th form. Time surely flies.

Sunny here - how odd. Not used to it. Just popping round to our village farm shop for a couple of roasting joints for our freezer and some steaks - requested by our lad. We're meeting them tomorrow for a little lunch party and he thought he'd ask if I could take them some. They sell much further afield than the village!
Catch you later x

Hope there isn't TOO much washing for you to do, Desley - enjoy the free day.

Well done to Darren's offspring. Thought we were finished with exams in this house but younger daughter will be doing accountancy exams in her new graduate job.

Bet that was tempting Lynne! Glad you had a good day though.

We met the lad and family in Pickering where the young un (who now likes to be called Thomas) was awestruck by the arrival of a steam engine. All that enthusiasm.

It's been a wonderful day here today. Sunny, warm and practically windless, which makes a difference from our permagale. Town was busy with day trippers and the coastal skiff regatta - they will have been delighted with the conditions. Much easier to row on flat calm!

YES
I hate it when some smart alec adult tries to crush it just to make themselves feel superior!

Couldn't even call it haar it's so thick. I hope it lifts, there's a lovely day probably only a couple of miles inland!

I daren't attempt the British citizenship test - I can see I'd fail from the comments in the posts.
Boiling hot yesterday. More of the same today please. Mind you, I can't sit outside with my laptop so it's not as if I'll actually be out in the sun!
Happy Sunday to all.
