Well pebble dashing the wall was right out of the question. If the builder had thrown it at the wall the wind would have taken it down the road. It’s all capped so it’s safe from the rain now. The wined is really gusting hard here. My last weekday of peace as I’ve got the boy for the next two weeks. I’m quite looking forward to it. It’s the county show and there’s lots to do and see.

Thunder rumbling around, we've had some downpours but then it's been gorgeous when it wasn't raining :-)
Wide awake before 6 on a Sat again! At least after getting a cup of tea and going back to bed, I had lovely cuddles with Lucy. Not much to do, and weather not great, so might have to do some of the cleaning I don't normally get time to do. Docs want another urine sample, seeing as they didn't test the original one. I did however forget to ask about the eye drops. Sorry the weather has delayed the builders Lynne, hope it improves so you can get out with the boy.

This place is just one big soft play area at the moment
Yep the mud is that deep!
Perfect weather for shorts, t shirt and a light waterproof jacket
Hello everyone, long time no see. We seem to be sharing weather with Jim here, but I saw some big trees down and massive branches in the road when I went to collect the cat from kennels this morning. The gales are coming and going, it's still incredibly hot, about 25/30 in our bedroom last night. McCat is unbelievably pleased to see us. Every time I sit down he's onto my lap and purring up a storm. Bless his heart he's obviously missed us!
Cheers

Gorgeous day here, warm, sunny and just a touch of haar for half an hour early afternoon which melted away again. Lucky really because as well as our Fringe it was also the Highland Games and Pipe Band Contest today so lots of Kilty McSporrans roaming the town too.
Well, was very wet and windy here yesterday, Lucy decided that we needed a sofa day, she wouldn't leave me alone! At least the two times I went to the shops it stayed dry. Not our usual lazy Sunday morning as I had to feed my friends cats. Usual Sunday chores, then going to update my book challenges and arrange all the paperbacks I need to read into alphabetical order. Blimey Jim! Glad the weather didn't affect your travels MT.
Talking of Belgians, I'm going there on Friday.I've scouted around the hotel on Google and the location is marvellous - there's a McDonalds and an Aldi just round the corner.
Well - I am shattered! My niece and her husband came to visit with their little boy. Husband and I are bordering on the reclusive, so after 5 days of having people stay at the house I am exhausted, and longing to sit in a quiet room on my own. They are lovely and we did have a good time, but I usually spend long hours in front of the laptop in my own little worlds, so it was a bit of a shock to the system!
Am now going to lie down in a darkened room.

A bit chilly but on the positive side, supposed to be a fine day. On the down side I've got some guttering to fix and a funeral to attend
The sun has been fighting against the winds, and winning, for several days now, but lost the battle overnight. Thunder, howling winds and rain. This is the 2nd week of my annual leave, but just happy to be off work (as I have so much other stuff to do) so don't care what the weather throws at me.Hope your day isn't too bad, Jim.
Heading into another beautiful California day.It turns out they grow almonds around here. Imagine the trees covered with flowers, in industrial quantities.
Daggy Bottom became Windy Bottom over the weekend but today it's calm but cool. Not like me, then. 😎
MorningHad a super lazy weekend, it's just as well because Gareth goes away this weekend and I'm running a half marathon on Sunday so it'll not be one bit lazy.
We've been a lot cooler (and very wet) the past week but the sun is out again today
Absolute stinker of a head cold this weekend, that's still doing all it can to hang on in there into the week. Not ideal to have today because as well as work, I've got to sort solicitors and meet a mortgage adviser to ramp up our house move. Yay. I think I'll need a holiday when all this is done.
I believe they say a house move is only marginally less stressful than a bereavement. Not sure I believe that but it is pretty bad.

You know it makes sense.
Another quiet day in the office, I was surprised when I came in though, I was quite cold as it was only 9 degrees, but didn’t expect to find the heating on! Going to go to Specsavers after work and order another pair of glasses, and ask for some different pads for these, as they do keep leaving red marks on my nose, and I think they are a bit too tight. Have rang docs and the optician just put a note on saying he’d prescribed allergy drops, so the receptionist wasn’t sure if he’d prescribe something just off me telling her the name, so have rang Specsavers to see if they can fax something over to them, she is going to see if that is possible, or if they can give me a piece of paper when I get there tonight to hand in to the docs! Bet you are glad you have some more time off work Kelly! I feel like that after going to Jersey, love seeing them, but not used to spending that much time round a 5 year old! Took you long enough Jud!! Sounds lovely Alicia

Still haven't managed to replace those.
Lovely new photo, Kath.

It was the only reasonable thing you could have done. After all you wouldn't want to run out!

Thirty seven years, you're not trying :-)
So far managed over sixty
Hi! Things got a bit busy with work and life and I didn't have much time to check in here at all :( so I'm completely behind on how everyone is! But I've got 3 weeks left of my course and things should hopefully start to calm down so I've managed to get back on here again :) and I might manage to finish a book!! I hope everyone is doing well.
Just looking in to see what everyone is up to. I can't keep up with you all.Our Australian visitors who found their first few days with us far too hot and their trip around the continent unbearably hot, have returned to us and our torrential rain!
However, today the sun is shining (so far) and we'll take them to the seaside!
with any look you'll able to give them snow and driving winds so they have the full English weather experience on the same day :-)
MorningI had left Nathan's bedroom window wide open last night and his room was FREEZING this morning. Luckily we had a bit of musical beds last night so no one was sleeping in his room. Kathleen was in with Gareth and I was in Kathleen's bed with Nathan! People keep telling me that one day I'll miss this...
That reminds me, I need to buy some elastic
Thanks, Alicia!Just back from a dental check-up. On one of Hull's main roads and one half of the dual carriagway is being mended. It took ten minutes to cross! Just as well I was fifteen minutes early.
Had a power cut last night. Power out for an hour and a half. Thank goodness for the backlit Kindle Fire. We were just about to give up and go to bed when it came back on. Much beeping of microwave etc.
The annoying thing about power cuts is having to run round and reset all the clocks on appliances like the cooker
Still a bit cool today, although just double figures – heating was still on in the office though. Had a very productive time after work last night, got new glasses ordered, although they are clearly a popular frame as they were out of stock, so not sure when I’ll get them, nipped into an independent chemist near them and got both lots of eye drops, then got a phone call from the doc saying he’d given me some on prescription. So now have an abundance of them, at least I don’t have to rush to the chemist. I got the viscotears that I like, unfortunately I was lazy putting them in last night and poked my bad eye, am really hoping it doesn’t make my iritis flare up again! It is a bit sore this morning. Lovely to see you Claire, glad you are enjoying your course, and hope you get chance for some reading time. Hope your Australian visitors enjoy the seaside, mad they found over here too hot! I’m sure if he had been in his room you’d have found out you’d left his window open Jud! I do love power cuts! The re-setting of clocks is a nuisance, I still have an old fashioned alarm clock.
Hope the drops work - how annoying to have to deal with something that normally takes care of itself.
Morning all, had a lovely day today, started badly, was going to meet a friend and her sons with McMini got half way and the road was closed, followed the diversion but it got all caught up with a diversion for another closed road and I ended up back at the blocked road after a 20 minute drive round in a circle. Eventually I found my way but we were late. On the way back there were more road closures, different places, different roads and on our diversion we passed many, many signs that looked as if they were part of the route we were on but were clearly parts of other diversions, for different road closures but this time we were wise enough to ignore them. I dunno what the fuck they're doing but the last couple of months I seem to have been unable to go anywhere in Suffolk without encountering a sudden road closure.
On the way out it took us an hour to do 13 miles, on the way back we had to do 20 miles, with the road closures but at least it only took 30 minutes - most of the roads were single track which is why it was so slow.
Strangely though, having arrived at our meeting place really, really hassled, I arrived home feeling remarkably calm. Sussex run tomorrow and I'm knackered and not at all up for it but I don't really have the option, if I'm here, I have to go - that's why I like holidays so much, I get a week off. Although occasionally, one Wednesday, I'll not go but I feel worse about that now after missing all four visits in the penultimate month of Dad's life.
Cheers
MTM
Hi allBeen a bit busy lately.
We're back at work today. Just finished sorting out my classroom. All ready for the kids on Monday.
The rest of the week I will mostly be sitting in meetings. Yay.
Also apartment hunting...
Morning!Husband out all day with his botany friends so I'm getting on with the next but one book (or two if you count a short story).
It's a grey and dowly day here.
Wishing you a successful apartment hunt, Patti.Am getting new windows in today - well, the start of it. Seems they can only do 4 a day. Will be finding somewhere to hide with my laptop!
Miserable weather here.
MorningI'm the only one of my team in the office this morning so not a lot to do... I shall carry on with training *yawns*

I, too, will be trying to stay awake during an online course about Making Tax Digital for Agents.
Woke up at 5am with my bad foot burning, so couldn’t get back to sleep. Got my MRI app through last night, 8.35 next Wed, I have to report to the xray dept but it say’s it’s a mobile scanner, but when I went the other week for my x-ray, there was signs for MRI in the xray dept, so a bit puzzled. Hope they don’t have me going to the basement to report to be sent to the car park! Not looking forward to it as I can’t have anti-inflams for 3 days before, that wouldn’t have been an issue before, but it’s 3.5 months since I’ve been able to do that, so warned my boss I might not be in a good place next week, as even when I can take one on Wed, it’s not going to be instant relief. Eye is still a bit uncomfortable, not sure if I’m over-reacting or need to get it looked at, hope I am over-reacting as I’m on my last week of drops.Sorry you are having so many issues with roadworks MT. Good luck apartment hunting Patti. Good luck with the windows Kelly. Sorry that you still don’t have a lot of work to do Jud. Sounds riveting Will!
