How on Earth did you figure that one out? I don't remember ever doing that, back in the dark ages when I wore them. Hard ones.

Looks like some slipped through the net, it's gorgeous here today, so I've had a nice early morning run, and now settling down to do some more work on book 3. Got someone coming to look at our house today, so there might have to be some cleaning done as well.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments It's all due to change tomorrow - so I'm enjoying the sun while I can. Sadly it looks like it will be raining for daughter's graduation ceremony on Friday

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments What a morning! Not sure the afternoon is going to get any better either. Woke up at 5, Lucy escaped from my room so had to sort her and Coco out. Good eye started stinging and being a bit watery last night and looks like it has quite a few red veins in, decided to ring the eye clinic to be told that as it’s rare to get it in both eyes, I had to go via the NHS minor eye conditions at the opticians first! Luckily they had an app this afternoon. Really hope I’m wrong, really don’t want it in both eyes at the same time. Then got an e-mail from DPD saying they were going to deliver my phone between 5 and 6 again, didn’t want to sit around waiting, and they wouldn’t re-direct to my neighbours house so having to collect it from a local shop tomorrow! At least my case arrived today. Hopefully the pantry order will arrive today. Got a bargain on Prime yesterday, they were offering £10 off if you spent more than £35 on pet stuff, so ordered some Feliway for me and my neighbour and agreed to split the discount, but when I ordered it, they took £19.50 off! Not going to complain though.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Eh up!
Just been to our local market town. We needed to choose something for middle grandchild for her 11th birthday - and we did. We also needed to find some new trainers for Himself. Went into Millet's. In the time it took him to select a suitable pair, I'd bought four t-shirts - which we hadn't gone for! Lesson there to male shoppers accompanied by wives. Get on with it!

message 11459: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments Since I have had a wife, I have never gone shopping for my own clothes whilst accompanied by her
Actually she loathes shopping as much as I do :-)

I did once buy a leather belt when in the company of my daughter

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments Good Morning.

We used to have a farmer that came in to our offices wearing a brown coat tied with baler twine and mucky wellies. Is that how we should picture Jim? Or is it that he doesn't buy clothes himself but has them bought for him?

More spammers around again, I've flagged it so Goodreads finds everywhere they've posted.

Mum came home from daycare yesterday with a model making kit and four jigsaws. I will have to leave the suggestions for her to do one of them today.

No daycare and no hospital today. But we have clinic review and chemo appointments the end of the month. Last time we had two clinic appointment times. I checked the day before to make sure, turned up for the first one and was told there was no record of it on the system.
We were given the next appointment times when we were there- clinic review in outpatients followed by collection of tablets from chemo unit. Now we have received by post a different clinic appointment time a couple of hours after the chemo appointment. I'm going to have to phone to see if they have cancelled the first appointment, and if they have then I will have to speak to the chemo unit to change that one.

Waiting around in hospitals I do manage to get plenty of reading in.

Hope everyone is well.

Just to keep you busy. 😁
More Canadian pharmaceutical spammers around, and for a bit of variety a German apotheke, Last week there were lots that were supposedly from France - they had no books listed and joined at least one hundred groups on the day they joined.
I don't know why Goodreads can't have something in place to stop these bots from joining so many groups. If there was a limit on how many groups you could join each day would that affect real readers ?

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Buying online means that I have exchanged 'You aren't buying that' for 'What did you get that for?', which I class as an improvement

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Well, seems it was a good thing I got sent to the Minor Eye Conditions, he thinks it is an allergy caused by changing my antihistamines, he says they’ve had loads this year. Now got allergy drops to put in right eye 4 times a day and a lubricating drop to put in both eyes 4 times a day, but they can’t be put in at the same time, so I’m effectively putting drops in 9 times a day today, but at least tomorrow my steroid drops go down to 4 times a day. I asked about using the allergy ones in my bad eye, he said only if it is worse than normal, I’ve just put one in it, seems to be helping with the stinging. He couldn’t explain the light sensitivity causing tingling, so will mention it to the rheumatologist. Pantry order arrived last night and Zooplus arrived this morning, unfortunately my neighbour sliced her finger opening the Amazon order, so had to do a bit of first aid last night, good thing she waited till after I had got home! Phone has been delivered to a local shop for me to collect after work, then food shopping, have got lists from 3 people, so that’ll be interesting! Especially as I had a bad night sleep, lots of tossing and turning from 3ish. Optician also recommended using a cold compress on my eyes, am going to try that tonight, forgot last night.

I think, by the time you finish with all these drops, Desley, they will have to give you a license to practice and a surgery.

Hope the new drops are better!

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 6903 comments Grey and drizzly start to the day.

Off to see JAWS at the cinema tonight. Scarily, it's the 45th anniversary of the film and I saw it on its first release. Admittedly, I had to be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult, but it's still ridiculous that it's so old (and, by extension, so am I).

Have a fun-filled and youthful day everyone.

Caught the end of Jaws 3 on TV the other night. Boy did that franchise jump the shark, if you pardon the pun. They should have left it as a standalone. A lesson to all writers there perhaps, know when to quit while the story is still good!

Another morning of half marathon training and now waiting on a download for some work, so it's a bit more writing - a short this time, something to bridge the gap between books two and three.

Weather back to grey and threatening. Supposed to get some storms come through this weekend, hope they're good ones and blow the stickiness away.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Back from the food shop. All stocked up. Back into the edits. Have a good day, each.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Finally got my phone last night, although nearly didn’t, first traffic was horrendous, so I didn’t think I’d get there before the shop shut, then the door was locked even though the open sign was on, luckily she came when I knocked on the door. However, after doing the food shopping, I didn’t have the inclination to mess with it, so it’s still in the box! Nipping to Lidl after work, as they are doing spiralisers for £2.99, then my friend is coming to pick up her dog food and some other bits I’ve got her. Hopefully I’ll get chance to look at my phone too. The irony about my eye drops is it turns out that as good as I am at putting drops in my left eye, I’m not that good at putting them in my right eye! And now I need to go to the dentist, just lost the filling that’s already been replaced once this year, she said next option was a crown! We have had a bit of rain, but not much to talk about. A lot cooler though, I had to go back to my winter dressing gown last night, at least I got two nights out of the summer one!

Wow, didn’t realise JAWs was that old!

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments We have rain now.

I have a spiralizer. But very little time to play around using it.

Good Morning.
I spent most of yesterday sorting files for destruction and carting stacks of files down out of the attic storage. I was already exercised before I went to my gym class.

Didn't get much reading done last night

message 11480: by Ben (new)

Ben Bruce | 40 comments Yup, also got the rain, hopefully it'll clear at some point over the weekend, meant to be popping around a mates for a garden party with the kids tomorrow. Could be a washout.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments I've got enough rain coming down to stop me putting washing out but not enough to fill the water butts - in fact not enough to even trickle into the butts.

To whom shall I complain?

message 11482: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments We've not exactly got rain, just an abiding dampness which is squeezing gently from the clouds.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I thought a spiralizer was something to style your hair.

Rain hasn't arrrived yet but I saw it go past

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Urgh, last night was hectic, between sorting out phone, going to Lidl (only went for 2 things and spent £20!), then my friend coming, I bought some polish dumplings for tea, but they weren’t nice, by that pointI had no inclination to start making something proper, so had a rubbish tea, so woke up at 5 with a banging headache. Was raining quite heavily too. Eyes are struggling to focus today, although guessing that is just tiredness, they looked half shut this morning!Dentist just re-did my filling as it was still in guarantee, so didn’t cost me anything, but think next time she’ll push the crown. Still trying to get new phone sorted, loads of apps didn’t transfer over, and I can’t remember some of my passwords, and keepfinding things that need re-registering, like the hands free in the car, so suspect it will take all weekend to get everything back. Am out tonight, going to the Greek night again for another neighbours birthday, can’t say I’m in the mood for it, but hopefully I’ll get caught up with the excitement. Rain has just started coming down very hard.

Jim | 21812 comments Kath wrote: "We've not exactly got rain, just an abiding dampness which is squeezing gently from the clouds."

we've obviously had a delivery meant for somebody else. Chucked it down here and much appreciated :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Well, I might as well have had a drink last night, with how rubbish I feel today, lack of sleep is even causing a sore throat now. Was an OK night, not as good as last time, there was a rather rowdy office do, so we could barely hear each other. Food was lovely though. Managed a couple of hours without my sunglasses on, although despite taking an oral anti-inflame and using some gel, I couldn't walk well, so no chance of dancing. Could do with a chill day, but it is our Rushbearing festival this weekend and the rescue Lucy is from needs some help for a couple of hours, unfortunately it's in the park today and it's been raining this morning! Also need to do some tidying, been such a hectic week that very little has been put away yet, and I'm behind with the washing up.

message 11488: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Had more rain later yesterday but not enough to replenish the depleted water butts. I managed to water the greenhouse from the one that drains off the chicken-run roof so that's far less walking than needed to get to the outside tap.

No idea what today will bring. Exciting! (I'm easily pleased)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments Kath wrote: "Yes, Anna! :)"

Woohoo!

Re rain - please don't tell anybody but we had torrential rain last night and one of the water butts filled but the other one had nothing in it. Why? Because I inadvertently left the tap on when I squeezed out the last drops. Bit soggy nearby now. I'm hoping for more rain soon so that I'm not found out. I haven't yet resorted to filling it up from the tap in the kitchen.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Well, Rushbearing was a bit disappointing this year, there were a lack of stalls, not sure if it was the new booking system but there weren't the amount of food stalls we normally have, and only two tombolas. Which hopefully meant the rescue made more money. I managed to win a lovely hardback of Enid Blyton books that I don't think I've read before, will read those out loud to the girls. Got a few bits from the village including some lovely home made strawberry lemonade on the way home, then went food shopping with my neighbour, we went to Aldi which we haven't done much since getting Lidl, some nice new products. Looking forward to pizza for tea. Haven't done much in the house though, just enough washing up so we can eat and drink tonight.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments Rushbearing - thanks, Jim. I love all these old customs, they make me feel connected to the past. I don't why I want to be connected to the past, but it feels interesting.

message 11494: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments Yes it's quite a popular local custom

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Well, I might have slept apart from being woken up at 3 by some noisy people leaving the music festival, but still feel very drained. Normally love going to the second day of Rushbearing as it is mainly tombolas, but need my limited energy to wash up and put all the shopping away, it's sunny though, so hopefully will be able to peg the washing out.

Ours is a full weekend event, the cart comes down one road on the Sat into the park, and another road on the Sun, on the Sat in the park we have Viking displays, dog agility and dancers, on the Sun in the square we have morris dancers, some unusual dancers whose name I forget, they paint their faces black and have cymbals on their elbows. I've loved it since a kid, but we normally used to only go on the Sun.
