I'm not one for googling my symptoms/conditions and leaving it to the professionals Desley, but I have less faith in them than I used to have. These things were sent to try us and they bloody well manage it, but persevere and you will prevail.
Hope everyone is going to have a wonderful day at the start of the heatwave (a tropical heatwave, the temperature's rising, it's hardly surprising...)
France issued warnings and shut schools, so it might be pretty bad.

Morning all.

:-D of course you're freezing, it's Barry-bados!
P.s. Morning all.

2:30 am, and the body decides it desperately needs food. So I'm having a bowl of cereal while one half of me wants to go back to sleep, and the other half says we'll never make it to morning without some calories.
Easiest to feed both, and hope sleep will resume.
The maps I've seen for Europe's weather are scary, and India's is the stuff of nightmares. Hope you're all ok in the UK.

Off to school sports in a bit. No I will not compete!

It's roasting here. I was helping out with graduations this morning so I got to stand out in the sunshine, I'll be going out for a lunchtime walk shortly.
Sorry about all your health issues Desley, especially your eye, it's a shame your Dr wasn't a bit more sympathetic/understanding.
I hope you slumbered better on a fuller stomach Alicia! I can never sleep if I'm hungry either so I'm partial to a midnight snack every now and then

Glad you arrived safely Patti, seems like you brought some nice weather with you. Hope you got back to sleep Alicia. I woke up after an hour last night starving, luckily I keep some cereal bars in the bedroom for these occasions, and a bottle of cordial in the bathroom in case I then need a drink. Thanks for the sympathy guys. Luckily after looking confused the other night, I did persuade Lucy to sleep at the side of me so we were touching without it being painful.

Here it got up to about 25, Patterdale was pretty impressive, and it was a nice day :-)

Glad you got Lucy to accommodate you - and all your other problem solutions. That's what we do - keep tackling them as life throws them at us.
I like being in KU - it makes my readers feel they're getting a bargain. Happy reading.

They're offering you (albeit very small and limited) power; take, use wisely.

funnily enough it's one I missed
I very rarely stop in the Patterdale valley but I'll drive through it several times a year, coming back from places just west of Penrith and I'm sick of the M6 so I'll go home over Kirkstone instead
Not something you do lightly in winter :-)

We stayed at quite a lot of hostels in the lakes - can't say that I remember that one

Where there is no heatwave. It's gone. It was here yesterday and now it's gone. Allegedly, it will return by the afternoon.
Well done the lionesses. I'll say no more so as not to bore the sportsaphobes amongst Patti (I mean all of you).
Have a good one everyone.
By which I mean 'day', but if you can have a good one of the other thing well then lucky you.

Good morning all. School is out here now so kiddies everywhere...

We stayed at quite a lot of hostels in the lakes - can't say that I remember that one"
I remember the walk to it and how glad I was to get there. Can't remember the one the night before but it was a fifteen miler that day. The most adventurous was Black Sail Hut. No running water or electricity.
And good morning!

Congratulations, Kath, and three cheers!

I never went to Black Sail - my brother has though.
The one I remember most was the one at the top of Honister Pass, because that day we arrived absolutely soaked and had to go down into Keswick to find a launderette to dry our clothes the next morning as there were so many wet items in the hostel drying room that it couldn't cope.

Shocked and very upset."
So sorry to hear this. I know how painful this can be but you should console yourself that she would have known nothing about it.

Shocked and very upset."
So sorry about this, Lynne. I know they become a part of your family. xx

Shocked and very upset."
So sorry, Lynne. K lost her beloved poodle just over a year ago in the same way, so I understand how you feel.

Shocked and very upset."
Sorry to hear this Lynne.
I went home and hugged my dog after I read your message .

Lynn, really sorry to hear about Daisy,
Will oops hope your phone is back on,
Patti, Welcome home!
Alicia, I hope the midnight munchies don’t become a thing!
Desley, hope your eye, knees and feet are better soon!
And everyone else, helloooo!
McMini went to do a taster day at his new school. ‘Real lab coats’ were provided for science, and goggles and were put on to ‘eye of the tiger’ which sounds hilarious.
Talk went well, then did two eyebombing workshops which also went extremely well. I feel there is a hint somewhere. I need to get cash together and do some eyebombing books. Maybe I should test the market first though.
Lastly, did I offer everyone a free book but I’m not sure if I did it here. Patti is there anywhere I should post it? Appreciated everyone’s sympathy and loveliness over the last few months so if you do want a brand new 17k short by me, it’s available on bookfunnel until 1st July from here:

Cringing apologies if I posted this before and it was bad, let me know where I should put it instead and I will.
Cheers
MTM

Have a good day all xx

Glad the talk went well MT, and McMini enjoyed his taster day. Hope you are all OK Lynne, how is your other dog?

The sun's got its magnifying glass out and is preparing to fry us ants. Remember to wear suncream, use the shade and avoid sunstroke.
I'm making it sound like the sun is unwelcome, which it's not, but we have to learn to be careful.
We're British, so of course we won't and there'll be sore heads and arms and legs all over the place later (hopefully still attached to the owners)
Have a lovely day everyone.

Boiling here today, but am way behind on a deadline so am in the study, with all the windows closed as the roof is being powerwashed.

Shocked and very upset."
Ouch, Lynne. So very sorry to hear this. A loved dog is hard to lose.

Not that hot here today really, actually quite pleasant. Thunder is rumbling around us now though and it’s gone apocalyptically gloomy.

Shortly after I wrote this, we drove to Hampshire and it was definitely hot there.
Today, back in Kent, my thermometer in the shade in the garden says it's 29 degrees.
I'm waiting for the cool, cool, cool of the evening (that's from a song, if you're wondering!).

It really isn't the heat - it's the humidity.

Hope you got your deadline sorted Kelly

My body is firmly on Myanmar time. Hoping there'll be sunshine here to help me reset my body clock.

funny you should say that, apparently we're in for a heat wave
Good (if unusual) to have you back in the same time zone.
And today I've got to go to a meeting in Patterdale to look at environmental projects. :-)
